Can someone explain the nail in the plastic worm
it just adds a little bit of weight and sometimes you can balance the bait on the fall.

Quantum reels?
I recently got the Quantum Energy PT "Burner" for x-mas and the one time I used it, I liked it, took me a while to get use to it after using Shimano Curado and Castaics for the past 3 years.

B.A.S.S. and A.B.A. join forces
Since B.A.S.S. turned the weekend series over to the ABA. Do you think that B.A.S.S. will even be a part of it after next year or a few years from now. To me, it seems like they want nothing to do with the weekend anglers and it will eventually not even be a way to get into the Classic.

Tournament Fishing and Fast Boats
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but I must say. If Ike tryed to get his boat into a place with low water levels and he damaged the boat for being stupid, while getting it stuck all at the same time. He should not be giving another boat to fish from, he should have to suffer and deal with it. On the other hand, if your screaming down the lake and the big motor breaks down, THEN B.A.S.S. would supply him with a new boat to use, or if his trolling motor break down. But that only happens on the final day, when they use the sponsored rigs. If Ike got his boat stuck and damaged it in the process, and they gave him a new boat for it, I would be ticked off if I was competing against him because you shouldn't be rewarded with a new boat. Most boat sponsors show up with numerous spare boats just incase something happens to one of their sponsored boats. Its not just an Ike thing, if it was KVD, Nitro would have another boat ready to go, no matter what the reason was. Thats just sponsors taking care of business. Matt If Ike got his boat stuck in the morning of DAY 1, he should not be allowed to get another boat that morning. For DAY 2, I know that sponsors have other boats for them to fish out of. I was refering to them getting a new/different boat during the same day if they do something stupid.

Rainy Lake GIANTS!!!
That first picture was on a calendar this past year. So I'm not sure your friends took that picture because I know the person that caught that little fish and had the huge pike attack it.

Anybody use a Berkley Bionix Rod?
Ha ha... interesting...medium action huh.

Classic Predictions
mattfly, where can this list be found on the bassmaster website?

Anybody use a Berkley Bionix Rod?
Harshman... Medium isn't the action of the rod, that is the power. Action is moderate, moderate-fast, fast and extra fast. That's how much of the rod will bend. What is the action of those rods you bought?

Another rod selection question
Roadwarrior, So for the deep diving rod, I should go with a slow/moderate action and heavy power. would medium-heavy work? for lipless cranks, is a medium/moderate a good choice?

Chatterbait what size 1/4, 3/8, 1/2
I've used chatterbaits a lot this past season and you can use the 1/2oz chatterbait at all depths. It's heavy enough to fish it slow and deep, and at the same time, you can fish it fast at a foot under the surface. Go with the 1/2oz in whatever color you picked.

Suffix braid vs Power Pro
MattJ... Sufix even has pink line for the girl in your life. My girlfriend wants me to buy it for her. ha ha.

Another rod selection question
Hey guys/girls, I'm looking for a specific rod for deep diving crankbaits and lipless crankbaits. I'm not looking for a brand like Falcon, St. Croix, GLoomis, Kistler and Shimano. I'm wanting to know what the majority like for the power/action of these two rods. I'm thinking of getting a medium power/moderate or moderate-fast action for lipless crankbaits but I'm not sure what way to go for the deep diving crankbaits. The deep diving cranks are going to be teamed up with a 5.1:1 gear ratio reel. For deep cranks, is it better to have a fast action rod or have more bend throughout the rod? I just don't want to rod to load up when I'm working the lure. So maybe a medium-heavy/moderate-fast action? Help. I'm just looking for power/action answers.

Suffix braid vs Power Pro
By the way guys.... Sufix is always giving you money back for that expensive braid they sell. If you purchase a 330yd. spool of braid, which is around $35. You send in a rebate for $10. I did it this past year with all my Sufix lines. I spent around $100 on Sufix line last spring and got back over $30 from Sufix within 3 weeks. Go to there website and search around, you can simply print off a rebate from the site or get it at the stores.

Suffix braid vs Power Pro
Guys lets correct something really quick that has been bugging me since you all jumped on the Sufix bandwagon in the past 6-8 months. I see a lot of people spelling the brand wrong... it is spelled SUFIX... with only 1 "F". In 80% of the posts on this entire site, people are using "FF". Lets start spelling this the way it should. I've used Sufix Elite for the past 2 seasons and love the stuff, wouldn't ever switch back to Trilene or Berkley. (spools of that garbage are for sale) Going into this year past year, I got some Sufix braid for my jig rod and the stuff is incredible.

Fishing is LOSING Popularity?
Where are they losing the popularity at? People trying to locate sunfish? crappie? Muskie? walleye? I'm willing to bet that bass fishing is growing and the other fishermen are going away.

Classic Predictions
Okay, is there a list of the 43 guys then? 7 spots left, d**n that seems a lot for having just the federation and weekend series left. I thought only 1 or 2 guys from each would make it... not a total of 7.

Chatterbait?
I've used the Rad Lures Original Chatterbaits since around October and they are great. You can simply throw it out and reel it straight in or give it some crazy cadence. You can even jig it off the bottom if you wanted too. You have many options with the chatterbait. My only recommendation would be to use a heavy braid when fishing the chatterbaits. It throws off more vibration due to no stretch in the line. You can feel the bait working as soon as you crank, your rod just vibrates. I've had the most success with them by trying to burn the bait past the fish so they couldn't see it. Then all of a sudden your rod will just load up and they usually hook themselves. They catch both smallmouth and largemouth for sure, we don't have spots in Minnesota, but I'm assuming those are catchable also.

Where can I find the list of participants for this years Classic. I've looked and can't find.

Classic Predictions
The winner of the Classic does get a automatic berth into next years Classic, but they also have to fish all the qualifying events and pay for it. So it doesn't matter if would finish dead last with Velvick, he would still be able to fish the Classic. The stories I heard on Clausen was that he immediately declined to fish the Elite Series right after his Classic win. I heard they approached him within 30 minutes after he won the event and he said that he wasn't interested and wanted to focus on FLW.

last one!!!
Why not just do a google/yahoo search on the items in question and see what the product testers have to say about each reel. That's how I usually go about doing things. Works for me, should work for you.

Bass pro's edorsements, the same or modified?
Of course he isn't going to use $75 rod/reel combo's. His name is on those cheap combos for the casual viewer of a fishing event, so they can relate to his name when going to the tackle store and buying rod/reels. If you knew nothing about fishing and seen KVD on the tv winning a tournament. Then went to a store and seen his name on a rod/reel combo, I'm willing to bet, those newbs to fishing would buy that cheap combo. Just because his name is on those combos, doesn't obviously mean he uses that crap. By the way, who can't get there hands on the Tour Edition and Energy's? I'm willing to bet, more often than not, KVD would walk into the local BPS and pick up a new Quantum Tour Edition "Burner" reel and use it in the next tournament. Modifying an already great real doesn't do anything.

Bass pro's edorsements, the same or modified?
I'm sure the pro's have 5 or so baitcasters just laying around on tournament day incase one goes down. Then they just switch them out.
