I've seen my partner fish with the banjo minnow pretty much everytime out, and the problems you thought would happen with them, never has yet, and this has been 3 years now. They cast fine and bodies never fell off on him.

Use braided line with the chatterbaits. It throws off more vibrations because the line doesn't stretch to compensate for the pull on the line. You can also jig the chatterbait, ripping it off the bottom, yo-yoing.

A drift sock would get caught up in the weeds if you are fishing a weed flat with it. You would need roughly 2 or 3 feet of water for the drift sock to open up.

We have enough issues in our own country to worry about. c312, Where did you get your information about E85? The Iowa Corn Growers E85 Web site says that if you have a flex-fuel vehicle and burn E85 (85% ethanol, 15% regular gasoline), you'll experience a gas mileage drop of 5-15% compared with regular gasoline. Taking the middle, a car that gets 25 mpg on regular gas would get 22.5 mpg on E85. Is that really a huge difference when your talking about 50cents less a gallon? If you recall, this whole post is about gas prices, if you don't like what the alternative is, then why come and b*tch about the prices when we have other sources. If you buy E85, you are helping out the farmers who grow these crops, it's a win-win situation to me. Troutfisher, clue me in on what adult can afford to live off of $5 an hour working part-time. Also, Wendy's or anyother fast food place would not hire somebody that walked in off the street, you need some sort of education to work at those places too.

I would head straight for the 3-5' sandy flat in the middle of the lake. I would throw a crank bait all the way across it if possible and crank it back over that hump. I would also fish all around that sandy flat to look for deeper smallies and also use a jerkbait for suspended smallies around that hump in deep water. All those weed flats are prime for largemouths and I would stay away from those areas if searching for big smallies. Also that sandy flat with no weeds that you have marked along that shoreline. I've caught some big smallies to end the season on a chatterbait over a sandy point that dropped into deep water. 3 smallies in 3 casts. Great stuff.

In a lake, I will try to locate gravel or rip rap. Another great location is a big flat.

Come up to Minnesota everyone, you can get E85 gas for around 1.40 per gallon. It's made from our corn. I'm sure you've had to of heard of it.

I tried to for some time and just didn't like the feel of it. I had pop-ups asking me for this and that and it really started to bother me, so it took a backseat for internet purposes when IE7 came out.

I think our state tax on gas here in Minnesota is just 10cents...they are wanting to raise it to 30cents per gallon but our current governor, from my home city, rejects it every time. Great dude. Tim Pawlenty.

Isn't a boat running aground the conversation. The guy had a fast boat and couldn't control it. Endangering others with all the horsepower. I think all boaters that get behind a boat should have a boating license, just like a drivers license. It's the only way everyone will be safer on the water. Make everyone go through a course, or grandfather it in to the younger kids coming up. I see no issues with this. They should charge money for this privilege of having a boating license. You could even have a symbol of a boat on your drivers license meaning you can drive a boat. If you get a DWI in a car or boat, then you lose ALL PRIVILEGES. I see to many people dying in fast boats especially during 4th of july weekend.
