  1. Anyone know where I could find the 7" 22nd Century Tripple Fish swimbait?
  2. How do you get a senko to look like a baby bass? Must look like a Paris Hilton of bass. Long and thin.
  3. They get rusty from moisture inside your tackel box. I would think you could put something inside your box, like maybe baking soda or something that prevents moisture.
  4. Never thought of using the dishwasher. The lazy mans approach. Good idea.
  5. So now you find the need to attack me personally by calling me a fool? I never attacked this guy personally but to change his thinking of saying a dead fish is, "Oh well that's fishing" When killing a fish during a tournament isn't, "Oh just fishing". That fish would of had a better shot of surviving if he was released as soon as you realized he was dying in your livewell. The main reason why that fish was dying after the swallowed hook was because it couldn't breath in your livewell or what you did before you put him in the livewell, but maybe trying to get the hook out. I've released a dying fish in a tournament. No wonder why some areas of the country have issues with dead fish. All I'm saying is, you need to change your mindset of just thinking, "Oh well, that's fishing", when it comes to dead fish in a tournament. Question for you. What did you do with this fish after it dead?
  6. I did a little searching for this topic but couldn't find anything. I'm sorting through all of my fishing tackle to get it organized and prepared for this spring. My question has to do with cleaning my crankbaits. I seem to have stains on the crankbaits that I can't figure out what they are and normal hot water and a rag didn't take care of it. Do you guys use anything to clean crankbaits, like rubbing alcohol or anything like that?
  7. Killing fish in a tournament isn't "OH WELL THATS FISHING" You should care for those fish like they are your own kids in that livewell. I suggest you go out and purchase some products that keep those PH levels in that livewell healthy for the bass. Also, when you KNOW you have a dead fish in a tournament, you should tell the director/weigher, that you have one dead fish, BE HONEST, I consider it cheating if you don't say you have one dead fish. Lets keep these bass alive for future bass kids.
  8. My little advice for you would be to show up early on tournament day. Probably around 1 to 1.5 hours early. Get your boat launched and start preparing everything or tying baits on, like crankbaits and that. Make sure you have a lifejacket, because you will need it at all times when your big motor is on, don't forget this in the middle of the day when moving to another spot, put that lifevest on and zip it, otherwise you will be DQed. Also, come tournament hours, you need to be relaxed and not rush every cast. You will feel yourself rushing and you won't do well. If your getting skunked and you have only a couple hours left in the tournament, I suggest you bare down and focus hard on what you've already thrown at them and do a complete 180 and try something else. If there not biting shallow, go deep or find a ledge to fish, if your deep and they aren't biting, go shallow. Use your head, I'm sure you read on fish movements and should have a general idea of where they should be located. Don't bring lures that you know you won't use during a normal days fishing. The more lures you have, the more doubt you give yourself, because you will have way to many options in your boat to throw at the bass. Keep it simple, especially for your first tournament, bring only your confidence baits. Make sure your trolling motor battery is charged and ready to go, make sure you have a full tank of gas in the boat and tow vehicle, check tires on both vehicle and trailer to prevent a blowout. Check oil in the tow vehicle and boat to make sure they are both full. Most these things can be done the night before a tournament. Lastly, try to get some sleep, it will be tough to fall asleep. Best of luck to you.
  9. Cool. Thanks. Seems like the lizard is the ticket.
  10. The leader line won't float the bait... if you want the bait to float, buy floating plastics. What I meant by the leader line floating is comparing mono to flouro, since flouro is suppose to sink. So if the advantage of the c-rig was to get the bait off the bottom, then a line that would float more(with the bait) would be the ticket, instead of a flourocarbon that would attempt to keep the plastic more on the bottom.
  11. Maybe by taking all the smaller fish to eat, you took that year class out that would produce those 3lbs today. Obviously, that would take a few years to happen.
  12. Actually, if a guy was fishing in a tournament with a 50hp motor compared to the HO 225hp motors. That guy fishing in the 50hp motor would be smart enough to not run that far for his spots. A guy fishing with a 50hp motor will locate productive fishing areas around the weigh-in site. So actually, the motor size has nothing to do with anything. If that 50hp guys did want to run to that 8mile away spot and realize all those people that passed him are now fishing there, he could just fish nearby and wait for them to get zeroed, then move in and prove that a 225hp motor does nothing for you when the 50hp guy wins the tournament on that same spot. ;D Anyways, the bigger motor just gets you there faster, that's it.
  13. You use a Gitzit tube for a c-rig plastic? What's a mojo rig? Just a pegged sinker instead of the barrel swivel?
  14. Aint Texan.... the size of the motor does not matter one bit about catching fish and winning a tournament. A guy with a 5hp engine could beat a guy with a 200hp mercury, so I'm not sure why you mentioned anything about the 50hp won't be able to hang with a 200hp Merc. But anyways....freedomfisher, I think you have a lot of learning to do. I can't see you being over 13 years of age and you're acting like you're the next KVD already, saying catching 5 fish a day isn't tough. The reason I think you are so young is because you can't spell a single word correctly. You should join a club tournament in your area, make sure you get the parents permission slip. You've got a lot of learning to do before you even attempt to put up around $200 to fish in the same boat as KVD and the Ike's of the fishing world.
  15. What I mean is... If you only had the option to pick one plastic to fish on a carolina rig, what would that one bait be? I understand all the different scenerios that comes into play with selecting baits. I just want to know, when it comes to that one plastic for the carolina rig, what is it? I hear a lot about a lizard and fluke.
  16. This upcoming bass season, I plan on fishing the Carolina Rig alot. I haven't really utilized the carolina rig in my fishing arsenal and would like to know what you guys prefer to use for the plastics on your carolina rig. Also, when picking the line for your leader line, is it best to get a line that floats to get the bait off the bottom? Most likely a mono. I know the basics of riggin the carolina rig but I would like to know the most affective soft plastic for this technique. Right now, I'm going with the Gambler brand of baits. I recently bought over $70 of Gambler. So far I love the smell coming from the packages.
  17. 2.5" Gitzit tube in green pumpkin with a 1/16oz insert jighead, gamakatsu hook.
  18. Another show that was decent was this one with Aaron Martin, not Aaron Martens. He had Pete Ponds on the show and they were throwing crankbaits. The one thing I didn't understand is, the host, Aaron explained how he was using the bait and fishing and really didn't let the guest Pete Ponds really talk. It was a show that involved a lot of catching, but also attempted to teach techniques.
  19. Is this a joke? I believe the person you are talking about is Jason Quinn.
  20. The Bass Pro's on Versus is a great show. All three segments were great. Then with Rick Clunn talking about spinnerbait blades. Doesn't get much better than that. This is one of the few, very few shows that actually shows you techniques rather than just showing them throw it out and catch a fish and not explain what or how they did it. The show that is more about the catching than the technique is the Charles Ingram show Fishing University. He promotes his sponsors so hard, Spro and that slim that he puts on every single bait he uses. I haven't ever learned anything from Charles Ingram except he tells me when Spro comes out with new baits. OH, and that they use gamakatsu hooks on there baits.
  21. First of all, lets clear some things up in this story that this guy wrote into this paper. This does not seem like it was his home. Since he said, "On the first morning of a long-anticipated vacation at a quiet". This writer goes on to say that, "19 high-powered bass boats roaring past my cottage" but then in a following sentence he said the ramp was crowded with DOZENS of boats. I only see 1 dozen in 19. Does he not realize 19 boats is a small field for a tournament and that the majority of these people that were crowding the ramp were probably people just like him, recreational anglers. I would like to know what time he got to that ramp, noon, when you can't find a spot at a ramp on any lake in the country probably on a weekend. To me, this guy was all over the place in his gripe against bass tournament anglers. To me, when I envision 30 yards. Thats far enough away for me to feel comfortable when a guy flys by me at around 50-65mph, not the 30-40mph he mentioned. This guy just has no clue at all about PUBLIC WATERS. One last thing, he mentioned NOISE POLLUTION. I wasn't aware of trolling motors running for 90% of a tournament would ever be an issue. With the big motor on only around 10-15% of a tournament, where is the noise pollution coming from. Probably all those guys crowding the ramps with the ski boats. So who does he have this issue with. THE SKIERS!!! Goodnight and Goodbye.
  22. I wanted the girlfriend to get me that book. Is it all pictures? Or is there actually good reading content in the book. Isn't it like 180 pages for around $30?
  23. You're correct....ABA American Fishing Tour pays 1 spot for every 7 anglers entered. I will be a director this year in Wisconsin.
  24. I prefer the FLW Tour. Whats the Bassmaster Classic Tour?
  25. I bet the guy could sell it to a collector for a cool million or so. Put it on eBay and receive a couple 100 thousands.
