  1. Fish nipping at the surface sounds like bluegill. Perfect time to throw a weightless SUPER FLUKE. Watermelon candy is my personal favorite.
  2. How did you guys do?
  3. I'd rather spend my $100 at the dentist.
  4. I believe that the lake/pond around cedar creek that you can fish is called Mize lake. It's s fun lake, but I've never caught any great size. Lake Lenexa is located on 83rd and Monticello..near K7 and 83rd. I've done well there too. You can almost always catch something from the bank throwing a weightless senko, and I've caught a few in the 3lb class from the bank on jigs and cranks at the right time of year.
  5. Major League Fishing is releasing score tracker to public. Next get together? http://scoretrackerlive.com/
  6. Welcome to the forum! Hope you stick around and continue to post. Don't let Blue scare you off, he's actually a halfway decent guy. I just fished the Dotte last year, and it was the first year that I had fished it. I'm not sure there's a simple answer as to what needs to be done. The lake gets a ton of pressure for its size from the bank and the boat. You can find 10+ boats out there on a Saturday and you can go to Shawnee Mission Park lake on the same day and see 1. On top of that they stock literally several tons of catfish and trout each year that have to be competing with the bass for forage. There's not a ton of cover in the lake, and most of it was high and dry last year. All of this leads to an uphill battle for the black bass population. I think the best you can hope for is that the smallmouth do take off as Blue has suggested. Compare this to Lake Jacomo which is managed by the MDC. Stockings are only done "based on the carrying capacity and the fishing pressure of the lake". This seems a like a better approach than dumping 30,000 lbs of trout and catfish into the lake every year to sell permits. Maybe it would be best to try to convince Wyandotte to use a more balanced, data-driven approach when managing the lake to attract a wider variety of fisherman. You can have a lake that has good populations of several species if managed appropriately. We can dream, right? I doubt much will change given that they probably sell a great deal more permits to bank fisherman chasing catfish and trout than they do to the bass guys and gals. I won't be purchasing a Wyandotte permit anytime soon, but I doubt me and 10 other bass guys leaving will cause them to change their mind about how they manage the lake. I hope it gets better, and I'm glad people care about the bass fishing out there. I just don't see it changing anytime soon.
  7. Hillsdale, Melvern, Pomona finally getting close to full pool. Clinton still a few feet down but rising now. Look at those inflows! Thank you, rain! :thumbsup4: http://www.nwd-mr.usace.army.mil/rcc/nwk/7daylak3.txt
  8. That's easily the fattest wiper I've ever seen! Nice report.
  9. Welcome aboard. Hope to see you on the water some day.
  10. Made it to Melvern with my brother today. Caught 55 bass between the two of us. Most on the ned or a tube and the dinks are back on the banks and hungry. A few nice ones that we'd run into every once in awhile, but they seemed spawned out compared to when we were last there in April. A little skinny and bite was extremely subtle. Water was pretty dirty in some of the creeks and around 75 everywhere. Key to the bite today was the wind. Find a windy (relatively) bank or point, and you could catch five or six in a row. Had two key areas where we caught most all of our fish. Fish were all shallow in 1-3' of water right up on the bank. Also, the gar spawn is on! They are on every rocky bank jumping, spawning, and generally making noise. I snagged a 20lb gar on my ned and fought it all the way to the boat until we realized we didn't know what to do with it. Couple of pics of our best ones. On a tube on the last cast of the day. Anybody recognize the bank? My brother with a good ned fish.
  11. Welcome from Mission, KS!
  12. Created a new account and your first post is a request for detailed lake info... I'll probably be out there Thursday and will likely post a report afterwards in the KC forum. Your best bet is to spend a little time searching for "melvern" in the KC thread and the KC Spring Get Together thread. Plenty of info in there about where and how to catch them. The KC thread goes back several years, and I'm sure there's a report or two from Melvern in late May in there somewhere.
  13. I can't believe somebody sold you a Kansas fishing license with that attitude. I think Kansas Fishing Regulation 34.b.2 states that you have to have a Ned tied on at all times or they can take your license.
  14. Man, the suspense is killing me. I use photobucket (I think Bluebasser does as well). Get a free account and upload your pictures to your photobucket account. I usually use their mobile app, which works great. From there copy the IMG code to the forum.
  15. Oh man, she's doing great. I'm not getting much sleep at all, but I've heard it gets better. Back to work tomorrow. No idea when I'll be back on the water.
  16. Also check back in the wyandotte forum. I posted several images from my lowrance hds last year of the object.
  17. It's in the cove straight across from the ramp (wilson?). Sitting in about 25' near the mouth of the first pocket on the right if you're driving from the ramp towards the back of the cove. You can't miss it.
  18. Grace Jay (princess superfluke?) was born friday at 7 lbs 9 oz! Mrs. Superfluke and baby are doing just fine. You probably won't see much from me for awhile but I'll be lurking and reading about all the hawgs that you're catching to get my fix.
  19. Welcome...I fished two Wednesday nighter's last year and didn't weigh a fish either time. Did catch a 14.5" largemouth in the marina cove right before weigh in once and considered stomping on it to stretch it to 15. Would have been worth the dead fish penalty to weigh in a keeper! I fished the lake pretty hard last year. It seems like it should be a great lake, but I think it just gets hammered with pressure. My best days were when I fished finesse lures (dropshots, shakey heads, flukes). I don't plan on renewing my license this year.
  20. Guys, Trying to clean out my garage. I've got an old Lowrance Elite 4 with transducer that I need to get rid of. It was on the bow of my boat. The transducer cable does have a cut in it, but it didn't seem to affect its functionality. Anyway, I'll let it go to anyone that will just pay for me to ship it to them. Send me a PM.
  21. That's good news. It would be awesome to see Clinton turn into a good smallmouth lake! Shawnee Mission Park is next on the smallmouth list, guys. Get ready to pony up for a JoCo license next year. Problem is that it's a trolling motor only lake, and the dam is on the other end of the lake from the ramp!
  22. First, a big THANK YOU to Bluebasser86 for putting this all together and for the bladed jigs as prizes. Second, I think I finally lived up to my screen name today of SuperFluke. This was only my third ever fishing "tournament", and I had never caught a keeper in a tourney before today. My brother will tell you that fishing ranks pretty low on his list of things he enjoys or is good at, so we really were out there just trying to have fun. I convinced him to come at 10:00 p.m. last night. I guess that I have spent quite a few days on Melvern recently, so I felt pretty good that a jerkbait would be the right bait to be throwing. Kudos to CCCDrew and his dad for putting up a really good number. We really thought we were safe and were sick of fighting the wind, so we hit the ramp early. Nice job, fellas. All fish we "weighed" in were between 3 and 4 lbs. We culled out our last 2lb'r near the end of the day when my brother got into one right at the boat and somehow landed it. All these fish were caught on Strike King 200 series jerkbaits. First one on the dam, next two were on the marina rip rap, fourth came in a protected pocket that was loaded with smallies, and the final fish was in a main lake pocket. My biggest at 3.83lbs on a jerkbait near the dam My brother's biggest, which turned out to be the one that put us over the top Really fun day. As good as it was, I hope that you all catch even bigger bags out at Grand next month!
  23. By the way, I tested my rapala scale tonight with one that is super accurate, and I know mine is right on. If you want to check yours against mine let me know at the ramp.
  24. Fished Melvern today with a buddy. My report is a lot like cbass12. It wasn't nearly as good as I expected. Boated 4 smallmouth and 2 largemouth between the two of us. Caught whites regularly, and boated a keeper walleye that my buddy kept. Two of my smallmouth were over 2.5lbs (2.62 and 2.66 lbs). One of my largemouth was a 2lb'r, which I caught back in the standing timber . Heartbreaker of the day came at the dam, again. I hooked into an absolute pig of a smallmouth that I know would have gone at least 4 lbs. Fought it for a long time, and finally got it to the boat. It did a couple of jumps right as I was reaching down for it and came unbuttoned! Hopefully things go better for everyone tomorrow, but I think you're doing really well to get over 10lbs. Water temps 53-56 My biggest at 2.66 lbs on a jerkbait. Still hoping to see you all out there tomorrow at 6:30.
  25. Earlier does look better. My vote would be to move it up to a 6:30 start.
