  1. I went to mapper.acme.com and printed off the topo of the area before it was damed up. Find the lake level and draw in the border. As far as I know, that's the only thing available. And I think the level is just under 900'. I also think Albers Marine in Arma has a topo map that is essentially what I did. SE Kansas grass grower
  2. It's not a SFL but you don't need any permits other than a Kansas fishing license. You can primitive camp but no hookups at Cedar Creek. Fort Scott Lake is the place to camp. Only about 9 miles to Cedar Creek and only about 15 miles to Bone Creek. SE Kansas grass grower
  3. Fort Scott Lake has a camping area with hookups. In order I would fish Cedar Creek, Bourbon Co. St. Lake, Bone Creek (good fishing near both ramps), then the mined wildlife pits. Fort Scott lake would be a good place to camp but not the best fishing. The reason I put the pits last is because although you can catch a bunch of fish, catching a quality fish can be a challange. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good fish in them, but you have to weed through the small ones. Cedar Creek is 7 miles west of Fort Scott and has all the cover you want. There will be places on that lake that won't get fished for years because the cedars are so thick in spots. Purfect lake for a buster type boat. Lot of three and four pound bass and a few good ones as well. Bone Creek is a mini Lake Fork. It has grass, trees, creek channels and some nice bass. It usually takes a 20" bass to win the weekly evening jackpot tournament. Bourbon Co. St. Lake is a cool little lake. Lot of smaller fish but some good ones as well. Brush piles in the lake but without electronics, would be hard to find. Give me a shout when it gets closer and I'll let you know what's going on. I live in Fort Scott and I fish all these lakes. 4. Not sure what you mean. It can be linked to another unit but it is a stand alone unit. And if it's a great unit from what I've heard from others and seen on the water on a friend of mines boat. SE Kansas grass grower
  5. Shouldn't be a huge issue. I've done that for 20 or so years on my Coleman Crawdad. Even if you get some interference, it shouldn't be enough to make much of a difference. SE Kansas grass grower
  6. Need to make the trip to SE Kansas. Bone Creek, Cedar Creek, Big Hill, Hillsdale, and most of the county State Lakes are really good. My Kansas pb on public waters is 7.50# from Bone Creek. The good thing is that most of these lakes you have to drive on gravel roads to get to them. Keeps the 'pretty boys' away. SE Kansas grass grower
  7. The 73dv is downvu only. It is a great unit and is soooo easy to operate. SE Kansas grass grower
  8. Went to Wabaunsee for the first time Thursday evening and Friday. WOW what an awesome lake! Caught 25 + small mouth with the largest 19" and right at 4#. Over 20 largemouth with 4 over 15". Lost a huge largmouth at the boat. Easily over 5. Caught most on Pop-r, quite a few on a Livingston square bill and several on a fluke. Finally saw another bass boat on the lake Friday. It's just too bad you can't get there from here. But I'll definately go again. SE Kansas grass grower
  9. Going to be at Wabaunsee Friday. Never fished it. Have cousins coming from Florida and they are staying in a house on the lake. Any tips for bass? SE Kansas grass grower
  10. Welcome!! SE Kansas grass grower
  11. Used to live about 4 miles from Lone Star. Buddy ran the marina for a while. Man, I miss that little lake. SE Kansas grass grower
  12. Yep, been there. I had it bad. Cortizone shot helped. But I have learned not to extend my arm all the way on casts. So far, that has really helped with no reaccurance. SE Kansas grass grower
  13. Yep, there's been hundreds of boats go right over that for years. At least closure for the family. SE Kansas grass grower
  14. It is a private lake. Fished it several times when I lived in Larry. BIG crappie, lots of nice bass. Fun little lake to fish. SE Kansas grass grower
  15. If you have a guide trip set up, make contact with him. Any guide worth their $$ will tell you what baits to bring. Most lakes in the Dallas area fish fairly much the same as each other. Good luck! SE Kansas grass grower
