Aaron Martens Gear Ratios
I think the pros that cover alot of water like the faster gear ratios. I dont deep crank anymore, occasionally throw shallow/squarebills/lipless cranks and have no problems with 7:0 and faster ratios.

Japantackle
Nice reel selection hootie All the good jdm retailers have been mentioned, add hedgehog for tuning parts, cant go wrong with any of these places. The yen is dropping and some of these reels can be had at an awesome price I was telling my fishing buddy the other day, with all the money ive spent over the past few years buying and selling jdm reels, i could of just bought the d**n plane ticket to japan. Bring an empty suitcase and go wild at each tackle shop, lol.

Copolymer Question
I dont use backing with copoly, you can usually buy large spools cheap. I use 8lb yozuri hybrid or 8lb cxx. The yozuri diameter is slightly smaller then the cxx and a bit less memory as well. Both lines have amazing strength for line diameter though.

What Reel Is It That You Are Looking To Pick Up During This Offseason?
haha, yea that was me. Ive wanted one for 2 years now. With the yen dropping i was close to picking up the hedgehog though... Ive been on a shopping spree this year, hoping i enjoy this reel. It will put me at 4 casting combos. Was going to use the money for either a custom finesse rod build or twin power/vanquish spinning reel. Who needs a spinning reel though, i have 4 finesse spools

How Many Different Brands Of Rod And Reel Do You Own?
As of right now just shimano rods and reels. Have one custom St Croix finesse rod. Really close to bringing a Daiwa/Megabass reel back into the fleet...

My Rod Is Better Than Yours
My fishing is mostly from the shore, kayak, or in my buddies small boat maybe once a month if that. So i always have two rods on me. One for plastics, one for moving baits. Works great for me...

I'm Starting To Think High End Reels Are Overrated
Every hobby ive ever been into, skateboarding, bmx, cars, motorcycles, fishing... i started at the bottom and worked my way up the food chain... Whether it was that 70s banana board, huffy bmx bike from a yard sale, or the five dollar quantum at the flea market, when you get that high end item that you've saved forever for, its all worth it. I want the best, i want the lightest, and i want the smoothest product out there. Like others have said, fishing is a blast, absolutely love it, but when you can get on the water with that conquest, stella, steez, certate, theres no other feeling out there. I dont care if i get skunked, just casting with a work of art like that on a beautiful day is awesome. With my budget, i could have 10-15 middle grade combos on my deck, but you better believe ill take 4-5 high end combos all day long...

Et Smallmouth Reel Seat
I've also heard the casting model reelseats have issues tightening down. One reason I stayed away and only use the spinning model.

Braid Fishermen, Do You Ever Go Back To Mono?
Its really easy to get used to the sensitivity of moving baits with braid, especially lipless cranks. Once you switch back to mono its pretty shocking. Ive been using straight braid for years now, flouro leaders for finesse fishing and its tough going back. I got really into finesse fishing this year with casting gear and its all about 4-8lb mono/flouro. Im still getting used to it, i dont like the stretch at all or line management.
-
Line For Frog Setup
i use 20-30lb braid for frogs, mainly open water with some pads here and there. Id reccommend 30-40lb braid for a dedicated frog setup.

Winter Waiting
Fall through winter is my favorite fishing season. You typically have the lake to yourself. As long as theres no ice ill be out there chasing something.

Black Cumara Rods?
Besides the cumulus, this is one of my favorite line of rods. There lightweight, sensitive, love the handle and reelseat. Balance great, and just look amazing in the sun Try to find the 6'8 medium. I use that with 6lb line for all finesse baits and works great. Plus the rod only weighs 3oz's so it will be a very light combo with that pixy...

Any One Use A Diawa Jupiter Rod
I picked up the 7'6 at walmart for $30 when i got into swimbaits. Decent rod for that money.
