  1. I did not know they had white 832. But I have used the the white Fireline Crystal and caught all sorts of fish from panfish, walleye, and bass. I can also tell you that all braid fades to a chalk color, and some guys use a sharpie to color it again.
  2. They are both good reels at those price points(PQ is on sale right now). What I would do is go there and put the reels on the rod you will be using them on and see how it feels in your hand.
  3. I have 4 Premier spinning rods of varying lengths. I would think the 6'6" MF would be the best all around choice for a wide range of baits. I used to use longer rods, but they kept irratating an old tennis elbow injury. Once I stayed south of the 7' mark, no more problems.
  4. I used the spin shot last year and really liked them. Can't seeing paying more for another brand and I use mostly gami hooks.
  5. I have one also and really like it. The only thing I did was flush/oil the bearings a couple times in the last couple years. I really like the wide spool and light weight.
  6. I to have 8 - 10 of them and they have served me well. I think I have had them for 12 years now, they are very durable and I like the full cork handle.
  7. I fish tournaments according to the rules presented. So it does not matter at all what they do. If it is banned then I or they will not use it. If it is allowed then we will use it. If someone came along and said " I am starting a jig only tournament", I'd fish that. So it does not matter what they do.
  8. You will definitly want the medium for what you are going to do. I had the MH and you could flip with it, medium is much more comfortable. These are geat rods and very durable, I have had mine for 10 - 12 years now.
  9. I have 2 of their Maestro series and 1 of the Overture. I find the Oveture M's to be equivelant to most companies MH. The Maestro's are right on. My Maestro's came with the recoil guides, I like them, some do not. All the rods are very nice and comfortable to fish with. I don't have anymore because I have not needed any more rods. One of my friends who is a very accomplished fisherman just switched from G-Loomis and Dobyns to all of their Hot Rod series. Most of the guys I know that are trying their rods have leaned toward that series now due to the price point and the quality it offers.
  10. I have had a lot of vehicles. I have had 4 Toyota's, the one with the least amount of miles was 296,000. Other than oil changes, tires, and brakes I replaced two batteries and one timing belt. None of my american made cars did so well. I also got a nice chunk of change when I sold the Toyota's. as for reels the $130 price point seems to be the magic number. the one exception for me would be the BPS Pro Qualifier that can be had on sale at $79. Now a days, no matter what your budget, you can find a decent reel.
  11. The only people I have heard of "bashing" the G are long time curado owners. I am sure they have looked inside a few of them and handled all of them. They know what they like and expect from a curado.
  12. I have some old Gitzit glider weights that I use a couple different ways in this manner.
  13. Not sure what kind of retailers you have in Wisconsin. But here we have a place called Ollie's, they deal in buy outs and surplus. Every year at this time they get fishing stuff in, of course it's random, but many times it's soft plastics. Many of them are brand names at half off. At Walmarts around here they are selling Yum products at a $1.50 a bag right now. I also know our Gander Mountains started a sale on products their changing out a couple months ago. I was buying Chiggar Craws for $2.50 a bag. They had dozens of other plastics marked down similiarly.
  14. If you are on a college budget like most college kids I know you can have a nice set up with the BPS Cranking stick and one of their Pro Qualifier reels that go down to 4.7:1. You will have about $140 in the whole set up while those items are on sale.
  15. I had a friend with a Cajun, he told me it would get the job done. but he likes his skeeter a hole lot more. what you need to ask yourself is "what kind of water do I fish"? If you are always on smaller waters then boat size and HP won't be as big a deal. Most guys around here like to buy the biggest boat and motor they can because of our big water. once you figure that out, then you will be able to compare various boats a little better.
  16. I can't stand the old reels without the IAR. To me IAR was the best thing they ever invented.
  17. I have a friend who only uses spinning rods and has qualified for 15 state teams. He finished top 3 in 3 bassmaster events, winning a boat in one. So you could definitely pitch with a spinning rod. I think the set up you are looking at will work out fine.
  18. I just stopped there and picked up some Yum Wooly Hawg packs for $1.50 each.
  19. I have a little of each, but mostly use cheap tin tear drops. My setups are so sensitive I can feel every little thing on the bottom with the cheap weights. I also do not like the "line pinch" tie on. They usually pop off when trying to unsnag the weight. Where if they held on a little longer I could have "bow strung" the weight free. I use the circle tie ons. I do use the pencil style when I am power drop shotting in weeds with heavier gear. Also use the cheaper weights with the circle tie.
  20. A long time ago I ordered a BPS spinning rod for $49. They were out of stock I guess, so they sent me a 2 piece St Croix Premiere 6'6" instead for the same price. That was 12 years ago and the rod is still awesome today.
  21. I guess I am really behind the times. A couple years ago I thought they told me they were sharing factory space here with St Croix. I wonder as they have gotten bigger they have moved down to the St. Croix factory in Mexico.
  22. Sorry about that, the hooks used to be made here in NY. I guess this location became a distribution center and now is closed completely.
  23. Mustad Hooks Rapsody Rods
  24. One of my Jr Bassmasters picked up this combo during the BPS Classic while we were there. I had a chance to handle it, and for $49.99 it was nice. At that price you really can not go wrong. I liked the feel of this set up in my hand better than the white Bionic reel and rod they had advertised for $10 more. This Prolite had a smaller profile and the rod seemed nicer.
