  1. haha! that's pretty good.
  2. hey eddie! i live in knoxville & fish fort loudon all the time. you're gonna love this site!
  3. the nanofil will cast really far. a lot farther than flouro. any braid will. i use p-line 20lb braid on my shakey rod with a 6 foot flouro leader. i tie them together with a double uni knot. i just reeled in a 4lber about 30 minutes ago with this setup. i think braid with a flouro leader is the best of both of worlds. u get the long distance cast with a super sensitive feel. u can tie braid straight to the hook, but i think flouro spooks less fish.
  4. chrisAW, that's a great story. if all of us tried to do things like that once in a while, this world would be a little better place. i have a similar story. i used to be a huge wakeboarder (don't hate me, i still like it). i visited the "wake world.com" forums quite a bit. one day this college kid posted how someone stole his board & bindings and he didn't have the money to replace it, so i sent him one of mine from the previous year. i had the wakeboarding version of the "bait monkey" back then, too. he couldn't believe it! it made me feel awesome to be able to help someone like that.
  5. get the 7'6", if not bigger. you'll get used to the size pretty quick & the extra length will help your casting distance for your c-rig.
  6. here's a good one....my buddy & i were fishing a tournament. as we idled back into a cove, i decided to get my flipping rod out of the locker. i didn't notice that the rods on top of the locker door weren't strapped down & shakey head rod & reel went over the side in 20 feet of water. to make things worse, we flipped the whole darn cove & didn't catch a single keeper!
  7. like nanofil braid with a flourcarbon leader. it casts a lot farther.
  8. trailer-----haha! that's what i was thinking with the topic's title!
  9. i use snap swivels on my boys rods. all you have to do is put a little o-ring over the bend in the spinnerbait. then hook the swivel on. this keeps it from riding up the arms of the sb. my boys like to change lures every 10 minutes, so i make it as painless as possible. oh, it works on buzz baits too
  10. if this is true, then the new 10xd should be one hell of a producer!
  11. ken browning, you would love "Major League Fishing". they weigh every keeper they catch & immediately release the fish. then the official in the boat (every boat has an official) instantly updates that fisherman's weight. each boat's official has an ipad that shows the current rankings and updates the fisherman as to where he is, & when someone catches a fish. it's a really cool concept. i love watching these guys sweat under pressure. check it out----it's a new twist that's more fun to watch.
  12. that's awesome. i wish i could figure the pattern out here. between the constant weather change & changing lake level, i'm shooting in the dark.
  13. every thursday evening there is a local tournament (aka wildcat) that starts out of concord boat ramp.
  14. i'm fishing the concord wildcat tomorrow night & am wondering the same thing. i saw some big ones shallow last night, but this storm we're gonna get may screw that up. i'd check shallow first & then work your way back to deeper water.
  15. it's been tough here in knoxville, too. the weather has been erratic & has got them screwed up. local wildcat starts thursday night, so i hope to get 'em dialed in. i should have those new crazy running rapalas by then. i plan on slinging the snot out of 'em.
  16. my buddy & are have been trying to fish the thursday night wildcat out of concord, but the weather hasn't cooperated the past two weeks. which ones are you fishing?
  17. there should be a screw on the right side of the reel, towards the front. you can use your finger nail or pocket knife to loosen it & then unscrew it. the face plate on the left side of the reel should twist down & pull off.
  18. i can cast my lucky craft sammies the furthest. then the ol' lipless cb. i would be i can wind up & sling the sammie a little over 40 yards. everything else is under 40 probably. heck, i loaded a 7ft ML spinning rod with 15lb braid & a 10 foot flour leader so i can cast my wacky worm ( when rigged up with a trick worm & super light weight or none at all) around 20 yards.
  19. you don't need $100 worth at all. i've got 10 chatterbaits & they are one of my go to lures.
  20. scott f hit the nail on the head.
  21. i was fly fishing in the smokies & caught a trout slightly bigger than the nymph i was slinging.
  22. oh crap, i guess i missed this thread. thanks, brian
  23. i've posted before about Bill Dance and his interaction with my 2 sons. he was at a fishing show here in knoxville. we waited in line for @ 45 minutes for a picture with him. i thought he'd take the pic with my boys & send us on our way. i was pleasantly surprised when he spent about 10 minutes talking & joking with them (they were 6 & 8). they ate it up. that is why i think he is truly a class act. he is the epitome of what pro athletes should be. i enjoy his show as well, & dvr it. we could use a lot more people like Mr. Dance. plus he wears a UT hat, & that makes him badass!
  24. i just read the article on spring fishing and it had the old rule of "you can always catch fish shallow when turtles are sunning". it made me curious about what other general rules of thumb there are. post 'em if you know any. thanks!
  25. thanks traveler, i didnt realize they had an update.
