The motor guide is the. X3/70lb. I appreciate your input. That 5 inch helix is definitely small, I would definitely be upgrading in the off season.

The crestliner does come with a 24 volt motor guide trolling motor and a charger, And I would eventually do all lowrance electronics. The nitro is an amazing boat, just have a hard time with salesman who are less than honest. My wife likes the prettier boat (nitro) more but she was looking forward to helping me spend $1000 at bass pro shops.

Just finished driving the crestliner vt18 with a 115 on it. What a nice riding boat, and as a novice boater I really felt comfortable driving it. The nitro had me a little intimidated. The deal on the Nitro has changed a little as well. Now there is no BPS gift card, only the VIP card for 20% off. I really do not like bait and switches. I can have the VT 18 for 21500, with a helix 5 side scan at bow and lowrance elite ti5 on console. Decisions decisions.

Just drove the nitro. Was a nice ride, rough water and the boat handled it well from my limited experience. Supposed to test drive a crestliner vt18 tomorrow.

the marina is bringing this boat(nitro z18) down from one of there other sites so I can take it for a ride. This is a lot more boat than I have ever driven, so I am a little nervous about pulling the trigger.

We need your 2 cents!
Tracker also has a 190 that may work well for you, especially if the 195 is at the top of your price range.

http://www.portharbormarine.com/default.asp?page=xNewInventoryDetail&id=1721883&p=1&s=Year&d=D&t=new&sq=NITRO&fr=xNewInventory this is at a local marina, $27995 plus a $1000 BPS card, and 5 year mercury warrantee. I am all over the place in what I want, but this is appealing. The Nitro horror stories weigh on my mind a little bit, but every brand has its issues.

Daiwa Tatula Bass Rods
We have a chain of stores in Maine that buys liquidated stock of businesses closing and other situations. Right now they have Tatulas, Falcons, Ducketts, All Star rods and Ethos rods. They only have the fishing gear out in spring and beginning of summer then they move on to winter sporting goods. Store is called Mardens.

Daiwa Tatula Bass Rods
I just picked up a 7ft mh tatula yesterday. Also picked up a 7ft ml spinning rod last week. Both for $49.99. Don't have reels for them but couldn't pass up the deal. There is a couple of 7'3" heavy at the store as well that I am fighting myself from buying. Have not used them yet but looking forward to it.

Peanut butter and jelly will be your best friend. Eating can be really cheap if you are not picky.

First Bass Boat Questions
I don't know much about boats other than the reseach I have been doing looking for a boat myself, but Champion hulls have a really good reputation. And I would buy the newer of the boats that are in the best working condition if it were me. Some of the more experienced members should chime In with a lot better advice.

Lund or other aluminum boat
How did the test rides go, what are your thoughts on the boats you have tested so far?
-
Lund or other aluminum boat
I am am in a similar situation. My wife wants a family friendly boat, which I want for fishing. I am not purchasing until fall or next spring. I am looking at everything from fiberglass to aluminum and fish and ski. I like a lot of the Lund models, but they can get pricey real quick, with a lot less horsepower than some other manufacturers. I like the looks of the impact and crossover.

Flipping Rod for Frogging?
I was able to pick up a Denali rosewood 6'10" heavy frog rod a couple of years ago from DSG. They had a flash sale with BOGO, so I grabbed a jerk bait rod as well. I enjoy the shorter rod.

Exactly, but they would make good glasses to leave on your boat or something like that. I hunt as much as the next guy, but camo has not made it into my sunglasses yet.

Auto PFD
I picked up a couple of onyx A/M 24 vests at a liquidation store for $53 a piece. I won't have a boat for a while to put them in, and to be honest I am a little worried about using them when I have never tested them. But once you test them you have to rearm them I believe.

I agree with you, I am going to try and sell on pure bass boat, but I need to pretend the boat will serve other purposes. From what I have seen, a fish and ski is neither a good fishing boat or a good ski boat. The fact is I will be using the boat the most, but I need to give an appearance that everyone has a use for it.
