  1. The answer is the same for both questions; figuring out the pieces of the puzzle!
  2. For a famous angler, Roland on the "Big O". Oh son! My pops for everyone.
  3. I have never used a single hook Aglia, but the "regular" treble hook bait is my all time best producer for Trout AND bass as far as inline spinners go. I like the undressed, gold blade.
  4. I chose other, Green, Purple, 18+ and rocks. My buddy makes a mean stand up-football jig hybrid that I fish in Green, Browns and Blacks. I like to lace the Greens and Browns with Purple accent strands. I picked 18+ because that's what I fish most of the year out here anyway in the man made canyon style rocky reservoirs prevalent out this way.
  5. Stay with it! Just like any other technique, It can be the most productive technique in the entire lake at times. It is actually so productive out this way that I forced myself to stop fishing it for a hot minute because it became so much of a crutch for me that my other fishing started to suffer. My best advice is to think of fishing it as an exercise in patience. Channel your inner fishing zen. If you fish it, they will bite. Its not a matter of if, just when... I just picked up a new Stradic and some Sniper so its game on again!
  6. Another vote for Chatterbait. Love those things now.
  7. I just received one for X-Mas as a gift and so far I love the thing!
  8. Both. Always. The three colors I use are Green, Brown and Black. Those three and those three only. The skirt and trailer colors are usually the same. Purple strands gets thrown in with green and brown skirts for a little more flavor. The living image and barbwire tabs can really light a jig up even when using the basic three colors.
  9. Well, as long as it has a quality hook (Gammie, Owner, Mustad, etc.) in it, its all good. I have some new tungsten models that are getting ready to go...
  10. Score! I was just commenting in another thread that I cleared most of the pegs at Ten bucks a pop for some LC stuff. At that price every peg would of been ghost!

The go-to is a 6" straight tail in Junebug, Green Pumpkin or Black. I know the topic was for plastic "worms" but I also like Lizards and creatures. Top three... 1 - 6" straight tail plastic worm 2 - 5" Lizard 3 - 4.5" Creature Depending on the body of water two and three can switch. The plastic worm is always #1.
  12. You are not alone. I am always trolling for this kind of "come up" but can never hit the "jackpot". The closest I have come so far is Lucky Crafts for Ten bucks a pop. Meh... I still cleared out most of the pegs. Haha.
  13. If were talking just fresh water black bass then a 6" straight tail T-rigged plastic worm in Junebug. If were talking anything that swims a 4" boot-tail swimbait in a bait fish pattern would fit the bill just fine.
  14. I really like this picture for some reason. I might be because I just love the Pearl color found on some of the Stradic models. I have a few Stradics myself. Really great reels IMHO.
  15. I missed this post the first time around. It must have rocked the Daiwa and Shimano Posses world! Sacrilegious! Haha. Like you said, no hard feelings. Some of the customized stuff is beautiful. Very nice collection indeed.
  16. Both! Haha. I agree with Road Warrior, the MH would be more versatile, but for your specific application the "regular" Medium would probably be better suited.
  17. Interesting to see its pretty split 1/2 and half with mono and flouro with some braid/ hybrid stuff mixed in. I usually use 12 lb. Izorline mono like I do with quite a bit of my reaction baits, but I just bought a couple of spools of Youzuri Hybrid after hearing all the rave reviews. So far, so good...
  18. Heck yes! Life is too short not to! I do mostly use Shimano and Loomis stuff though. I have some Falcons I like also. Batson and Calstar for the salty stuff. Just like reels I have tried a bunch of different brands and go back to the ones I like the most. I do have some odds and ends here and there as well.
  19. Welcome. I'm from Southern California as well and fish both fresh and salt water.

The old cliché "let them tell you what they want" still holds true to this day. Anyone who has been around the bend a few times knows some days color doesn't mean squat and some days it is of the utmost importance. I use a general guideline of trying to "match the hatch/ forage" and darker baits for darker days/ water and lighter baits for lighter days/ clearer water. Some times this exact premise contradicts itself. Also mentioned previously in this thread, sometimes none of these guidelines matter. Fish what YOU like and see if the fish agree, if not improvise, adapt and overcome!
  21. Every single reel I own (except one Lew’s this year) are Shimano’s, including salt water gear and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I like my Lew’s so far, its longevity will be the true test for me. I have had a few Daiwa’s in the past and they have serviced me well. I just prefer the form factor on my Shimano's over the Daiwa’s I have had. Daiwa and Lew’s are the other top two reels at this point I would consider, although the 13 reels look promising.
  22. I like the Super 8 Slick. Pretty nice stuff. Try it you might like it. Soft and suple, easy to manage. I like 50 lb the most for baitcasters.
