  1. Well, for me personally it was a buzzbait and you guessed it... nada! Actually nada for the next 20 casts with the buzzbait. Haha. However, my first trip down to Baja this year resulted in a nice Yellowtail on the first drop of the year with a jig. That thing didn't even hit the bottom before it got slurped! So I got that going for me, which is nice... Haha.
  2. Yeah, I have a Lowrider Lizard Dragger and its one of my favorite rods for a lot more than just draggin' Lizards! Although it does excel at that. Perfect tip to bomb a C-Rig out there and plenty of backbone to set the hook with some line out.
  3. Top notch!
  4. Best "all around" for bass fishing? For me, probably 10 lb. mono. I like Izorline. I do however use co-poly, braid and flouro as well. For all around price, ease of use, versatility my vote goes for good ol' reliable Monofilament.
  5. Great reel for the price. Sold mine to my buddy to get him started.
  6. Pretty standard affair. I remember when I first used a Chatterbait. First cast I could barely feel the thing at the end of my line but as it got closer, the thing practically vibrated its way out of my hand! I'm honestly not sure why such a difference for you from shore unless you are just able to bomb your casts THAT much farther out from the boat, which just might be the case.
  7. I have them in a few different sizes. Nice rig. While I use Gammies almost exclusively for regular hooks, I do like quite a few Owner products for jig heads with hooks. I.E. Flashy Swimmers, Ultra Shaky heads, etc. My buddy swears by the Sled head style Ultra Heads.
  8. The only time I really peg is when I'm fishing it with a constant retrieve. I.E. Swiming a grub like a swimbait through some grass. Maybe when flippin'. I use the little rubber bobber stops. Otherwise, not really.
  9. I don't know about bed, but I have turned the handle on a brand new reel a couple times while laying on the couch watching t.v. Haha.
  10. Live it, learn it, love it! I agree an annual deep cleaning is the way to go. Strip it to the frame, clean everything meticulously and re grease the gears and drag washers. Oil the bearings and worm gear and you're good to go! In between just periodic oil to the bearings and worm gear.
  11. Bwhaaaa! You might have to stop fishing all together, the hooks are too sharp these days! To dangerous! To the op, run what you like. I think it definitely matters more to some than others. I fish 50-400 size reels and it doesn't really matter to me. Then again I use conventional salt water gear quite a bit chasing inshore and offshore game so ANY fresh water gear is more comfortable to me! I had a couple of the gen 3 Revos and didn't care for them at all. Actually so much so that I don't own any of them anymore.
  12. I own 8 of the E series (50's, 200's, and 300's) and absolutely love them! Not sure if I would pay $200 for a used one unless it was a 300, but hey what ever floats someones boat. We might differ a little bit in the fact that I do believe they are one of if not the best reel in that price range.
  13. I agree with a lot of the points already made. A 300 is to much and a 200 is perfect and exactly what I use. CU 200 E7 to be exact.
  14. This. I have a 2500 Stradic CI4+ for drop shoting and would agree to look at Pluegers for under a $100. My pops uses the Supreme's and loves them.
  15. This. In regards to his Elite win On St Johns River: " He said his primary lure of the week was a 6-inch Junebug-colored Yum Dinger; it was the bait that brought him all his fish heavier than 4 pounds. Junebug is the color he automatically ties on when fishing in Florida".
  16. This. The colorant that is used to dye the plastisol when pouring or injecting the baits comes in non-bleed and regular. The non-bleed will not contaminate other baits. Some types of colorants are harder to work with than others.
  17. It might behoove you to carry both. As far as fishing stained water the Green Pumpkin and Black might work better, but of course we always have to have a Watermelon right? Purple for me too! Haha.
  18. Purple (Junebug). Followed closely by Green (Green Pumpkin and/ or Watermelon). Black (w/ Blue flake) would also be right there. Just one, Purple.
  19. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if KVD not only wins another tournament/s, but another classic and AOY as well. Like others have said when the conditions "set up" for his style of run and gun fishing it would be foolish to bet against him. I really think its a matter of him setting the bar so high while he was on a roll racking up Classics and AOY's that anything less than that stellar clip will pale in comparison to his previous accomplishments.
  20. I haven't used the new ones but have several of the old ones and one of them is my all time favorite worm rod. It just has that certain "je ne sais quoi" about it. Good luck if you grab one of the new ones. I have handled them in the store for a minute and they feel light and crisp for the price.
  21. I like this advice. I believe identifying and understanding structure (and how to fish it) is the most important aspect of Bass fishing (and often most misunderstood). I'm sure Catt himself has echoed this statement several times on this forum already.
  22. 3/0 EWG for me.
  23. I like LC Pointers the best. 100 size mostly, but don't sleep on the 78. Ghost Minnow is my favorite color. I also like the X-Rap. I love the Olive Green color one.
