Mike Long
I never heard of the guy until yesterday when someone posted the video on facebook, I don't think that video showed much, it almost looked like he was using one of those old Helicopter lures, I guess it could of been a treble hook but its hard to tell

What brand Trolling motor plug/recepticle
Its rare when my plugs lasts longer then 6 months, the main reason is usually because the wires are installed so close to each other on the plug or recepticle, it amazes me after all these years that they haven't designed them differently. I wonder if they think they will sell more the way they are

What brand Trolling motor plug/recepticle
I always use the connect pro for my minn kota, but after replacing another one (probably replaced 20 over the years) I'm wondering what others use and if there are better brands. I never really like their design, the wires end up being to close together, which invites a short. the other marinco style plug is more expensive but I see a lot of complaints on reviews of them also

Do You Need To Mount Your Onboard Charger?
yeah I thought about getting an extension and running the charger in my bow compartment (that's the only other available compartment) but I don't think I could fit four more wires through the pipe since I ran the trolling motor wires through there. I may test it out to make sure though.. There is a spots outside of the center console, the chargers is supposed to be waterproof so I guess it wouldn't matter if it wasn't protected from the elements, the biggest problem with that would be the chargers plug, I can imagine the wire constantly getting in my way. I have to figure something out, I will be using the TM a lot

Do You Need To Mount Your Onboard Charger?
I've been rigging my boat for a trolling motor, luckily I just barely fit two TM batteries in my center console compartment, I could fit a onboard charger in there but the instructions say to have it 8" away from everything, and it would only be 2" away from the batteries, with the gas tank right next to the batteries I don't think that would be a good idea, so I have two options, to either install the charger out in the open where it will be in the elements or just not bolt it inside the console and pull it out when ever I charge, I figure I would have to pull out the cord to plug it in so puling out the whole charger wouldn't be much more trouble, I don't see any reason why I would need to bolt it to anything unless Im missing something. what do you all think? any suggestions? thanks

What Could Be Wrong With My Trolling Motor?
Hey yall, Im having a problem with my TM and I was hoping someone might have an idea of what it could be. I was on the water and it was running fine, then I went to another spot and went to turn it on and it wouldn't come on, I pulled it out of the water and looked at it and it came on for a few seconds but then shut off again and never came back on again. everything else works fine ,it has full current going to it, it still steers, still beeps normally when I try to run it with my co pilot. won't run with the foot control and the co pilot disconnected either, but it won't run. I pulled off the prop and everything looks fine, it won't even spin without the prop on. Its a minn kota AP riptide 65lb thrust. it is about 8 years old and used a lot (probably over 1000 hours of use). Anyone have any theories of what it could be? If I can't fix it myself I may take it to a repair shop, If it cost to much to fix I may just get a new one, could be a good excuse to get a I pilot :-) but I'd rather fix it if I can save some money thanks for any help!

Maryland's Who's who!
I did pretty good, I fished near Hart/Miller island in the upper Bay and caught a bunch of Bass up to 10lbs!! Only problem was they were the kind with stripes ;D I also caught some white perch and a catfish all of them jigging a hopkins spoon. I didn't even try to target LM Bass, there was just to much boat traffic in the rivers

My TM wires caught on fire!
Update! I replaced the plugs and ran the TM hard today for about 4 hours, and it never did get hot. it did feel a little warm at times but Im not sure, it may have been my imagination, or maybe the hot sun

My TM wires caught on fire!
yep my circuit breaker never did trip on mine. After inspecting everything, the (male) plug thats connected to the TM wires was what caught fire, the wires to the TM also burned, but the wires that run from the batteries to the (female) plug (6 amp)still look like their in good condition..Im hoping to change the female and male plugs and maybe the wire to the TM and hopefully it won't happen again

My TM wires caught on fire!
Thanks for the replies!! The plug is actually the kind that minn kota sells for their TMs. Im going to try the pic again, Im actually lucky the boat didn't catch fire because it chared the inside of the anchor locker

My TM wires caught on fire!
Hey all, the people on this board have always helped me fix my trolling motor problems, Thanks for that, but know I got a new problem. I was out fishing in the middle of the Chesapeake and the wind picked up to about 25mph all of sudden, I was using my TM to keep me over a spot so I turned the power up all the way like I have many times before, about 15-20 minutes later the TM shut off, then I started to smell something burning so I looked in my anchor locker (where I have my TM wire plugged in) and the plug was on fire!!! Is this unusual? or maybe I just ran the TM to hard for to long? should I be O.K. if I just replace the plugs and maybe the wires? thanks!! Heres a pic after the fire

Batterry/charger problem
Thanks for the reply!! The charger may have kept charging, the red light went out and the green light stayed on (indicating it was finished charging) but the charger was still hot, I thought it seemed odd that the charger was still hot when it shouldn't even be on. I may just buy a new battery and charger. it would cost more but it would hopefully solve the problem...it sucks because I had a spare battery and I gave it away to someone a couple weeks ago because I didn't think I would ever need it

Batterry/charger problem
Hey every body! I have a problem with my charger or battery, Im not sure which. I started noticing a foul smell that was coming from a compartment where my 2 bank charger and battteries are, I felt the charger and noticed it was hot, so I thought the charger may be bad, then I checked the TM batterries, one was good but the other had no water inside of it and the wires connected to it looked to be burnt black, the battery also seemed to be where the foul smell was coming from, The battery surprisingly still has a full charge. I can't decide if the problem is the charger or the battery, I know its normal for the charger to get warm, but it seemed hotter then normal. thge batteries aren't that old so Im guessing its the charger thats bad, or maybe its both? Does anyone have a theory as to what the problem may be?? Thanks!!!!

should I buy one or two new deep cells?
Thanks for the replies!! I think my battery may be O.K. yesterday I charged it and the battery got Hot and it looked like it swelled up some, but today it is still at full charge, but I noticed that its low on water, I may just add some water and hopefully it will be alright
