Darwin Award For Reel Maitnence
Lots of spinnning reels pack their bearings with grease so if you flsuh them it will lose thst butter smooth feeling. The bearings in a spinning reel dont act the same as in a baitcaster. Be careful eith the AR bearng. If you over oil it the AR can fail when its cold or will engage on its on when you set the hook. Id advise you to eother exchange it or send it in. Tampering with spinnjng reels can be the devil.

get some acetone from any hardware store, take all the bearings out and put them each in a different small glass (shot glass works perfect). fill the cup up just a little over the bearing and swoosh it around and let it sit. you will see excess junk come out of them. use a pencil or a small screwdriver to just swoosh them around in the glass a few times. i've found that i have to shake them a few times to get all the junk out. give it 10-15 min a piece and then redo the process again. take them out and let them air dry. after they dry, spin them on a pencil or something that can free spool the bearing. they will free spool like crazy. place ONE drop of oil on each bearing. one drop goes a long way. put them back in the reel. i will post a link to a shimano curado schematic that will give you an idea. part numbers 1419 (near the middle of the picture) are the 2 springs i'm referring to. if you don't place these in correctly on part 3575 the reel can feel rough. part 3965 is right above the springs on the schematic and that goes in or next to part 3575. make sure all these parts are put securely in place and aren't bouncing around. the yoke (3575) is what holds the spool in place and in turn allows it to turn the gears inside properly. http://schematics.pl...9CU201E7_v1.pdf as for hotsauce, lots of reel repair services don't advise using it and it also voids the warranty on some reels when you do use it. i don't really like it. i just use ardent reel oil and it works fine. just try not to mix different brands of oil and greese together. use one oil and one greese.

Left Handed Baitcaster For Crankbaits
Unless your deep cranking the curado 51e is a great shallow/mid cranking reel. 25 ipt. Most 5:1 are around 19-21

You should be flushing the bearings prior to adding more oil or a different kind of oil. You may not have (excuse my lack of part knowledge) put the piece that jolds the 2 springs under the handle plate back correctly. Tht would cause the small gear shaft that drives the spool to feel geary or grinding.

What Rod For Trout?
Esp rods. 6'6 ultra lite or 6'6 power lite. Both are built for fishing in line spinners for trout. I use the 6'6 ul for stream trout and have handled 19in browns in 4lb test. Rods a blast to fish.

Glx Vs Legend Elite
I pitch jigs all spring and fall for walleye. i'm generally always using 1/16-5/16. 90% of the time i'm using 3/32-3/16 pitching jigs/plastics to wingdams, rip rap and sand. I'm very particular with this rod as I enjoy doing more than anything. I use the xtreme 69mlxf and it works perfect. I've handed the 68mxf and it's a good rod but it's a rod built for mono /w walleye jigs with its backbone. the mlxf is more suited for superlines. both will "work" with each line but one suits the other better. if you're using weights up to 3/8 it'd opt for the 822 over a 1 power. the 822 handles 3/32 (didn't go down to 1/16 but i'd assume it would work) just fine and up to 3/8 as well fine. I wouldn't go over 1/4 maybe 5/16 depending on line and plastic/minnow size with the 751 because it will lose it's tip productivity. the 70mlf would be a great choice as well if you want to go the Elite route over the xtreme. Again, if you are going mono, the 68mxf would be a better choice. The st. croixs will more backbone feel as their tips are faster and the glx's in the 1/2 power will have a little more power throughout the entire rod as opposed to the upper bottom 2/3.

Anyone Have A Full Cork Handle St. Croix Ltb?
The full grip ltb is the older model of the legend series. The split grip ltb has a newer blank. I believe the blank has been upgraded twice since the full grips wre taken out of the line up. The newer blanks are more responsive and obviously lighter in weight and use a better set of guides. The old full grip cork is still a very nice rod.

Powell Max Vs G.loomis Gl2
It simply just puts them behind the other series of rods. It may seem that way because most of the reviews or answers to specific loomis questions will give you that answer in some form or another. Basically, the GL2 is overpriced in comparison to rods in it's price range. It is by no means a bad rod or junk as some say. There are just much better options when shopping in the 200$ price range is what it boils down to. Cosmetically the GL2 looks great. Performance/construction wise the consensus is the rod is well placed over it's price range. If you are ever given the opportunity to own an NRX/GLX, it will make much more sense.

Powell Max Vs G.loomis Gl2
They are by no means incapable of making a good sub 250.00 rod. The comments on the rod are largely based on it's price tag vs other rods in the same price range or less. The gl2 is uses components that you can find on much lesser expensive rods (these days better compents are used on much lesser priced rods)and get the same if not a better quality of rod. It is by no means a flop or bad rod but you can find better rods for less. Lots of people when first purchasing a new gl2 think they are getting a rod that will be a little less than a glx but are soon find out that there is a large gap. The argument is usually the 200$ tag on the rod. When you see the statement "to get the gloomis experience you need to get imx+" it's because there's more of a gap in the gl2/glx then most people would like to see. You are definitely paying for the name with a gl2 and it's 200$ tag. If it were priced 50$ less i doubt you would see a lot of the "hate" this rod gets. I don't own one but I've held them in stores and i actually really like how they feel.

Best Jig Rod
The champion line isnt really a bottom contact line. The extreme line is a very good jig line.I do own 2 champion extremes now and they are exceptionally nice rods. I got another dx744 thst retails for 329 for 250 for TW black friday sale. Well worth it. Of the 3 you listed in thst range i would choose the ducket personally.

St Croix Triumph Or Abu Garcia Veritas
You probably think thatbased on the fact you are on the east coast. Out west dobyns is more than a "household" name. As is st. Croix, abu garcia...
-
St Croix Triumph Or Abu Garcia Veritas
Kind of a stupid statement but okay.. To avoid the exclusions you can sometimes just call in and ask for it. works sometimes. Of the hundreds of brands on the site, you're right, the 14 listed as "excluded" or so are the only brands people want. Nobody wants dobyns, st. croix, megabass, deps, abu garcia, etc....
-
St Croix Triumph Or Abu Garcia Veritas
You dont need an email or to have ordered. Its for anybody to use. It wont let me post the address. Www.***.com/?coup=BLACKFRIDAY Replsce the asteriks with TW but spell it out.

St Croix Triumph Or Abu Garcia Veritas
The veritas can be had via the walmart site for 70$. Im a big st. Croix fan in their legend series but i do not like the premiere/mojo/triumph line. Just a personal thing though. Others like them. The 7' m veritas would be a good bet or the mojo 68mxf. TW black friday just went live. 20% off everything. Save your self some money and shop there.

Curado Cuestion????
The 50 comes with the drag star that you have. The 200 comes with the metal drag star. You will have to switch one out from a different curado to get one for a 50. You can also order one for a reasonable price. As far ss there being a difference in the models, yes. The 200 is 7:1 gears and the 50 is 6:4. The 50 is obviously smaller amd comes with a lighter spool and holds less line. The 50 excels at throwing lighter baits than a 200.

Go For It?
Yes it will be covered by st.croix. one of the best customer services in the market. i used to own that rod. One of my least favorite in the legend line extreamly tip heavy. The 73 was less so than the 71. Aside from it being just uncomfirtable to fish with it is msde well and has a really great action tk it. You msy like it though. Put your reel on it and just find out. 150 is a good deal.

Rude Fishermen Rant
HA! 50 yards? Try fishing a smallmouth or walleye tourney mid fall on the mississippiand you will appreciate that 50 yards. For those of you that have verticaljigged tailwaters in the spring/fall you know what im talking about. A guy could just hop from boat to boat sometimes. Guys being that close is rude especially on a small lake. Either way i dont mind much as long as i never cast over him or get turned due to his motor.

Why Are Megabass Products So Expensive?
As stated before, jdm rods are enthusiasts rods. The reason for their high pricing is basically the components and attention to detail. The bulk of the price is craftsmanship. If you ever see them in person they really are works of art and any fishing enthusiast appreciates how they are built. Its basically like personalising a new car. The rods are a thing of beauty but are no where in the real of a necessity to fish. Do they fish "better" tthan a loomis or st. Croix? Premiere on up to legend tournament/imx. Yes. Elites/xtremes/glx/nrx, not really. Some will argue they do which may be true might not. I fish xtremes/nrxs and now dobyns dx and ive held 2 megabass rods and fished with one for a short amount of time and i could not see a 300-600 difference in it performance wise. They sure sre nice to look at though.
