  1. I have zero experience with todays rods in that price range but the shimano selus seems like it would be hard to beat for 50 or 60$.
  2. Either a squarebill/lipless crank, jig or shakey head is something I will always depend on.
  3. i use a chronarch 51e for 1/4oz kvd 1.0s and don't have any issues at all(used to use a curado 51e as well for the same thing) the rod you mentioned will work fine.
  4. Spring is my favorite. Lipless cranks squarebills amd football jigs. Winter is so mind numbing.
  5. I took advantage of their 50-60% of sale a few weeks sgo. The selection they had on clearance was unreal.
  6. I throw the 5" most of the time. Bluegill, bqby nass, gp/chart tip and watermelon red flake are my standard colors.
  7. I use them as swim jig trailers. Yamamoto, kalins, and action plastics are my brands of choice.
  8. spinning - 69mlxf legend xtreme casting - dobyns dx744 or nrx854 is a toss up.
  9. The Dick's near me has SK series 1 cranks for 2.97, xr50s from 1/4-5/8 for 4.97 and hot mustard/silver clackin raps 3 and 5s for 5.97. all these are an additional 50% off. weeeeeeeeeeeeee. There is also a display gen 2 revo SX LH for 119.97 that is included in the 50% off. Comes with no spool tension knob. I unfortunately have no need for this reel...even at roughly 60$. We also are now carrying lots of baby brush hogs/finesse worms in the new colors and limited edition colors (sprayed grass..etc) They seem to be carrying lots of Diawa products as well. The lexa 100hs was on display and 2 of the gen 3 revos. Hope all of yours are restocking now.
  10. Its not the best rod in your price range but its much better than most 100$ rods
  11. What part of the Mississippi are you wanting to know about?
  12. I didn't think other people noticed that either. the ratio of salted to unsalted zoom products is like 9:1 and we have about 3/4 of an aisle dedicated to zoom..
  13. I read an article a while back somewhere that I couldn't find that was about top water colors and patterns. It went in to a little detail but not a lot on how bass can see the reflection of the sides and top of the lure through reflection. Whether it's true or not is beyond me but one of my most productive top water walk the dog style bait colors is in a clown pattern /w an orange hue belly that seems to out fish bone with the same bottom.

I use blue/white swim jigs a lot in the summer. I have not tried blue/white jigs with a craw trailer on the bottom though.
  15. Dx 744. I bought 2 of them. Fantastic rod and the most versitle.
  16. The last good dick's sale i got in on was for an avid and a few curados that cost 100$ or less each. Since then I can't seem to beat the folks that flock to our dick's to get the good deals fast. We carry such a small selection of wanted items and a large quantity of stuff nobody buys often that it's hard to get there good. Another Dick's near me has LC pointers/sammys that seem to run at 14.97 + 50% off quite a bit but I can't ever seem to get there before they are cleared out.
  17. Fluorocarbon is something that you really just need to try for yourself. Some like it and some hate it. I personally love it. You don't "have" to use fluorocarbon. There are perks to it which personally make fishing it more enjoyable than using a braid/fluoro leader. It is one of those things that you should not skimp on though.
  18. Firetiger Popr and shad popr are my favorite
  19. The majority of the swim jig fishing is done on northern style swim jigs in the 3/16-5/16 range and I almost always use a 5in GY single tail grub or Kalin's 5in grub.
  20. I sold quite a few legend tourneys and legend xtremes to switch over to dobyns champ extreme. I wouldn't even consider going back after using them. The rods (i've only used the champ/champ extreme) balance incredibly well for rods over 7' and are quite light and sensitive/responsive. The finish and aesthetics of the rod are great. I'm not hesitating to buy more. As for the Savvy, I've never used one. I am planning on buying the 735 for frogs and 733 for northern swim jigs but that would be about the only use of the savvy I would want.
  21. Sexy Shad Chart/black red or orange craw
  22. i've seen them at cabelas, gander and bass pro. if they don't have it in stock i'm sure they would have no issue ordering you some. i've had dick's order me in things without a problem.
  23. Those hooks can be use on really any hard bait as long as you match the hook size to the lure without altering the action in a way it won't perform correctly. size 2 is another good size to have as well along with 4 and 6 trebles. as for the case, i've used it and didn't experience the issue you have.
  24. Clown Deadly Black Pro Blue American shad sometimes gold/black
