  1. Best value imo is the Pflueger President. But any spinning reel from pflueger is a very durable and great reel. I love the two I have, I use my Pflueger Templar 35 size for weightless worms, texas rigged worms and creatures, flukes, senkos, lite jig heads. If I was buying one today under $100 I would get the purist. If you are looking for something in the 150 range, then your options open up, there are Daiwa and Shimano models, Abu Garcia Revo models spinning in addition to the Pflueger Supreme XT that are all great reels.
  2. Ur bro is one cool dude, all i got from my brother was a phone call wishing me a merry christmas. I IMO Look at Dobyns, *** or another Carbonlite. Personally if I got the purist I would go towards inshore/bass dual purpose, (hated as they may be) E21 carrot stix wild green or my buddy just got a waterloo pretty sweet but at the top of your range. I use 8# stren megathin on my main reel 35 size reel I have no complaints, like it very much and 6 # original on my sons 20 size. I might try some suffix elite or the stren braid on a spare spool sooner than later though.
  3. Shrimp n grits with Brussels sprouts
  4. C'mon Al, that sounds more like bud's coffee. It should go double Jameson, hold the whipped cream for sissies. But then again Big O drinks mint juleps, who am I to judge. Back to the original topic. The strongest coffee I ever had ( love strong coffee myself) was the Leboneese coffee some natives that migrated to the states shared with me. Good ****, if you have a chance to try Arabic coffee( dunno how common that type stuff is in bama but nova and Tampa had a few places) and while your there try Arak too. You won't be disappointed on either.
  5. Give the Bass pro Carbonlite a look, love mine. Others love theirs. Oh so lite but strong and as a plus it is not shimano. Hehehe. Bass pro also makes the browning rods and they have their top of the line(out going style) that originally was 120 on sale for 79 a couple days ago. Heard good things about the falcon though, if I was buying today I would give it a serious look.
  6. Nice fish.
  7. Wife got me a pair of Costas! Boys got some strike king mini buzz baits and some creme spoiler shads.

Oh yeah been doing that as well but instead of a whole senko it's been 3 inches or so on a 1/16 arkie.

Man since we are fairly close I will tell u what is working here lately, the higher temps sound about the same here. Wacky finesse or centipedes, slow lizards n rattlesnakes on a 1/8 Texas rig in june bug, watermelon, watermelon red, soft jerk baits, soft swim baits, and grubs in black, grey, silvers and other natural shad colors sometimes with a chart tail if we see them chasing. This week when it got chilly my daiwa db minnow in rainbow trout pulled a few out.
  10. Honey baked ham....wife's home made pecan pie
  11. Nope. You used to be able to fish in the wilderness camp ground area but can't anymore, they won't even let you fish if you rent a boat. You have to take the excursion they offer. I have done it, we did a 2 hr. it was with my son, we caught a good amount on the shiners they provided but nothing over 3 pounds, for the money hire a real guide and go to a real lake. the sad thing is the disney lakes were stocked in the late 60's or 70's(can't remember what year I read) and they were not allowed to be fished for 17 years. I would think there are some nice mature fish in that system though...too bad.
  12. Bass Assasin, my buddy uses them and he does well. I use the flukes myself. but the bass assasin has a couple different options on split tail or not in their standard plus, there is the twitch assasin, vapor and lil tap. and they also have different colors than zoom. He has done well on the redshad, and black with chart tip and bass with chart tip. http://www.bassassassin.com/bass-fishing-lures/index.5.5.0.0.0.0.html
  13. I use zoom horny toads, and Bitters or zoom Vibe worms early in the morning, black/yellow for the toads and redshad or houdini for the worms.

Glad you are back. Enjoy your well deserved time in the outdoors and with your boys. Merry Christmas.
  15. X2 And zoom or bitters to fill in the gaps
  16. My strength is fishing slow fishing. I enjoy it too, because of the focus it takes and I forget about other things, just watch my line, work my bait, and catch a fish every now and again. It payed off in the hot summer and when these cold fronts have come through, and topwater or faster moving baits were not working. I see other post their stregths are keeping emotions in check. Me, that is my weakness LOL I took my son out this morning, we had 3 hook ups and landed one. But I hurried, maybe errors just because I wanted him to catch a fish in the worst way and maximize out time out. I turned good for him he was happy and am still lamenting. If I miss a fish I hurry and loose focus of the presentation, same if I know time to go is coming up, I might as well leave then because I am a mess, I look like Joe Flacco trying to come from behind.
  17. Love the bomber square As and Balsa Bs. The flat As are pretty good as well to me. I also like the Rebel craw cranks and the wee R. Very good craw imitation at the best price.
  18. X2 I like the jitter bug cuz u can vary the retrieve more so than a buzz bait, plus like RW said plastics near heavier grass, I go with a toad or vibe worm.
  19. 6" zoom lizard watermelon blk flake. Trick worms in junebug, redshad, or baitfish Zoom super flukes in baby bass or shad colors Favorite>>>Grande bass rattlesnake in junebug red flake or any of their colors weightless like a senko, slowly swam/dragged or bounced weighted T-rigged. For topwater vibeworms or horny toads, red shad and black/yellow I use senkos style too, but these are other styles to check out. One I haven't used but will deffinately try to purchase is the mega strike megabug it looks like a lizard creature combo.
  20. Cool deal man. U ever track it? I have seen a few at the vintage leguna seca race.
  21. Good stuff. Why is a 4yr olds favorite word lol
  22. What motor is in the beck? What year was it? Have u ever had a chance to drive a 550? They are pretty neat considering the rarity of the original. Just wonder how the original 1,200 lb car flying at 120 mph taking a corner in panamera with drum brakes
  23. The money going around is CRAZY!!! Or is it me, but 5 million a yr to Gomes, 3 yr mill to Ross a backup catcher, 40 mill deals for Napolii, pagan, and victorino...Pitt paying 17 mill to martin as has been????? Cmon these guys are getting paid waaaaaaaay too much for what they are or woulda been 3 or 4 yrs ago. What is hamilton gonna take? how do these teams afford it??? CRAZY
  24. Martins Grocery chain(Giant foods) in WInchester and Front Royal would have Scrapple, ponhoss and souse along with fresh cut bacon and suasage in their butcher meat case. But we had the Rapa bricks from the breakfast meats case growing up

[ Well after having sucess lately with lizards and weighted texas rig, I went back and gave them a try this morning. tried a 10" got some taps but not enought to engulf the bait, switched to 6.5" and got one. I think I will keep giving them a try here and there and see what coms of it. looking forward to it.
