Setup so he ain't gonna win a casting contest but he gets the lure wet, dink or two. Does better than with his spinning reel as far as tangling it up. It is never too young to educate a thumb.

Fear the fish. If the talent on the marlins can keep it glued they will be hard to beat in the NL east. AL east is up for grabs I think Bosox and Rays, because my Os only have one real starter and the bats fade after July. But the rays been shakey, and losing Moore is tough.

I just got one, and as stated by some fellas on here it is good for 3/8 jigs plus trailers, 3/8-1/2 oz spinnerbaits, and depending on plastic size Texas/florida rigs upto 1/2 oz. IMO anything 1/2 oz plus trailer and over go with a 5 power maybe 6. Needham can really fill you in on what's best for that he owns just about everyone in the dobyns lineup 734 is a great rod for what it is.

I tend to find jigs poor for vegitation on either go t-rig or florida rig.

Clear or stained chart/white has been good, early on in the morning black. And try something natural like mouse or gizzard shad. I always like at least one Colorado blade on there.

Very nice! Sure is a great boost of confidence to start off fishing a new lure like that.
