  1. The carp do that to me as well in the early morning.
  2. http://www.co.st-johns.fl.us/Recreation/Parks/DavisPark.aspx They have stocked ponds, been there once they are very accessable.
  3. White light reflects and causes night blindness, and is obvious to animals. And like bosox said red travels better at night and doesnt bother animals. Emergency vehicles us red and blue lights for a reason, laws of physics. Blue is better seen in day and red at night. However the interesting thing is most animals will not notice the red light.
  4. I will say the time change isn't all roses for me, I now need to be at the water at 5:30 and can be done by 6:30 or 7 to get my dawn time in....That means I need to get up at 4:45 to 5 am. Like I said not complaining because I still can go fishing but not roses. LOL
  5. Glad you joined up this month. Look forward to seeing some pic of the fish you get......How do you work the menace? on top?
  6. I hear you the wind made it perfect for spinners today...Sadly I had none with me.
  7. X2 xcaliburs...best fit and finish for the price, run really well out of the box, come with great hooks. Rattle traps always seem on the cheap side with hooks. And Redeyes have had their quality control issues as well, never liked their design.
  8. Exactly he is a big? and the only people dumb enough to throw cash that way are the yanks, we will see with Roy if money talks. That is why I respect Lee, he played were he wanted to not for the ring or the $.
  9. I only read the sox have definite interest, CBS Sports was reporting.....I expect him to hit as well, but stay healthy, leg and groin issues are the worries. 30/30 type player? I dunno.
  10. The phillies declined to make halladay a qualifiing offer which could just be semantics but I think they are done with him. He is going else were, to a contender. LA or NY is my guess, maybe Texas. But from what I hear the Yankees want and are willing(supposedly) to pay every free agent out there. LOL
  11. Gambler makes so good baits period. Their stick, ribbon tails, flappin shads, ledge worms, sweebo, ugly otters among others are all producers!
  12. Nice rod, been looking at Allstars among others as I am in the market once I get my reel for Christmas....No, sorry I meant the 4.5 standard size. I would think the 3.75 would be just as good just use a 2/0 hook instead of a 3/0 or 4/0. I might pick some of the babies up myself. Nope, this one is down south. I am down in the Mandrin, Bartram, JCP area.
  13. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20131103/SPORTS0104/311030016/-1/rss12 What do ya think about this? Will be interesting
  14. How did the move go? You ready to hit the water this weekend? Went out today, slept in just stopped by my local publix pond for 30. No big ones biting. Tons of bait swimming the banks and lots of 1-2 pounders slamming. But I focus deeper trying to get something big....give a better spot a try tomorrow.
  15. How bout check the laws. I don't fish live bait in florida, however my wife's family does up in Va/Md. We went fishing in the Potomac and Maryland prohibits the possession of crawfish. Might be a florida law as well. Also minnow species are limited by several factors, how easy they are to keep/breed in captivity, FWC regulations. Bluegill are great alternative as mentioned before.
  16. Nope as far as I know academy is the only on that sells them but it is limited colors. So I am gonna try green pumpkin or sssandberg and see if that works like junebug.
  17. Grande Bass Rattlesnake... They make 3 size, I use the middle size which is 4.75, they make a baby and a diamond back....it is a ribbed worm, kinda like a stick bait with a looser more seductive wobble on the slow fall. It is heavy enough to cast a mile weightless. I fish it weightless or weighted Texas rigged and because of the ribs it is a 100% weightless. My favorite way to fish is with a 1/16 and gently swimming or sweeping it. Best color for me is junebug red flake and trophy hunter is good too. Gonna try a different color this time around.
  18. I will be there Friday getting rattlesnakes. Now they don't have my color but I will take em. Y'all say your prayers, once I get those it will be curtains.....R.I.P.
  19. So ak apparently I was wrong my mom corrected me Academy southside opened nov. 1 grand opening is the 15....kids fish the catfish tank free lol
  20. Have a BPS Carbonlite, can't go wrong with that rod. Worth double its price tag
  21. I have an ugly stick spinning and that is what my few cranks, top water hard baits and jerks get thrown on most of the time. Works great, not as sensative nearly as my Carbonlite but I have occasionally throw a wacky rig or trig with it and had no problems. I take it if i want to fish with the kids that way if it gets stepped on no worries. They have a new model out this year or something I hear some buzz.
  22. I have a 6'-6" MH F Carbonlite spinning that is plenty of sensativity for jigs, Texas rigs, weightless plastics but enough back bone for long hook sets or frog fishing. I throw mainly plastics or rattle traps ocasional topwater hard bait or jerk bait in a pinch. Mono or braid it fished well and sensative with either line....that is a great all around rod. There is a few threads in the rod section I know of that talk about these rods.
  23. Yeah what he said lol
  24. Nice fish everyone. Congrats Dsidle on that PB. It depends on what u wanna spend for a rod. If you want to spend around $100 then options open up and I would recommend a bass pro Carbonlite. Best for the money, I think 4 of us in this comp own them.
  25. Where at? Let me know I might be able to give you a pointer or two if I have fished them
