  1. Appreciate the clarification. I might have jumped on your reply a little hard myself And admittedly I did sorta use the topic to get a point or idea out there that is a sore subject of mine. To the OP I appologise. I understand what you are saying Teal figure out if the dog is in distress. In hindsight believe the OP should spend the $200 to figure out if the dog is injured the. If need be make the decision between surgery or putting it down. I didnt mean to just shoot the dog cuz it ate the jig, I meant if it was in distress or showing signs.
  2. I have heard this, but have never felt comfortable with it when I used it. But it is something I will revisit because I understand the reasons it does hook up better and honestly maybe didnt give it enough of a chance. But when i did use a Texas rig this way feels like it sets different and comes through grass different. It hung up more?? Do you or Sam see this? Also out of curiosity does it affect the presentation? More bites one way or the other? Thanks.
  3. I figured I would ruffle a few feathers from the bleeding heart fur mommies. I am half serious though. What I am pointing out that society puts its animals above a human, and that after all it is just a dog. I would rather him put the dog down then let it hobble around wondering. The vets these days are a joke. If this man cannot afford a vet then do the right thing and he is at no fault. I got a long sad story about how rediculous these surgeries etc are for animals, the money people tick away for a dog that can be replaced, the breeding and over population is staggering why spend money on an animal that is injured when you can give a healthy one a home. You bring up money, people love to use this as a means make themselves feel better. I am not going to drop my savings on an animal. Which surgery can cost thousands and you have to come to the realization that you made a mistake a) I shouldn't own another dog or I will not repeat the same mistake again. I refrain from using the word family pet. A dog is more serious than a hamster while it is included in the family it is NOT part of the family. Therefore I treat them as such. It is often forgot dogs were bred for a purpose once upon a time and most weren't as companions. I do take exception to the use of the term cruel, if I said hook it up to a battery and electrocute it that would be cruel. I mentioned a humane way to dispatch an animal. Fact of the matter is I chose to pay the humane society to put my sick dog down. And I regret listening to the vet and letting if suffer, and in the future if any one of my animals shall become burden with an illness or old age to the point they are dibilitated I will go ahead and skip the vet and the meds and put it out of its misery. For the fact of the matter I don't think you people realize the meds dogs are given or the side affects. We tend to assume it is like our doctor. I caution you to read before you give them meds. There are a ton of herbal/holistic remedies that have no toxic affects. I don't think you or most folks will understand. The rest of the junk you wrote regarding throw away etc. is far from me. Those here that know me know I have a heart for my God, my family and my fellow man. While I do very much like animals, I have great respect for them, there is a line that is draw and they will never be in that catagory. I find it ashame that in society too many people fail make a distinction.
  4. Me thinks there were some pretty good pac10/12 teams that woulda/coulda/shoulda but because there wasn't a better system in place didn't have a chance.
  5. I usually use a 3/0 on my worms that are 4.75 inches. Offset or EWG, if the thickness is like that of a trick worm then offset would work, but typically use a EWG if any thicker. I fish a 6'6" MH with 8 and 10# mono and don't have a problem, give it a nice stiff hookset, you won't break it. Set your drag like you would normally, not buttoned down but not loose enough it pulls on a hookset. It think it is one of two things the hook is too small or your just not setting it hard enough.
  6. Or that the SEC never played the best teams since the BCS is fixed towards the most $$$ for the NCAA.
  7. If $200 is too much, .22 bullets are cheap and you can pick a new dog up from the animal control for 35 bucks....shoot(no pun intended) you could even get a good hunting dog for $200. One that eats crap like jigs doesn't seem to be the smartest dog anyway. Plus with a jig I am not so sure it will even pass once in the stomach, many animals eat things like stones to help aid in digestion, albeit most are herbavors or birds that I have read do this. But point is it may be too heavy to pass and sit in the guy, thus the lead would be a concern.
  8. Cool man, I did that with my oldest son a couple yrs ago. It is a good time. You both will have some fun. Pulling a bass out in the middle of epcot is pretty crazy, you never look at the lakes the same.
  9. I know July was rough for Escobar but been better of late
  10. Nice write up.
  11. yEAH I LIKED HIM TOO. BUT 9 YRS THERE HE HAD HIS DAY AND RAN HIS COURSE.
  12. check this out http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/philadelphia-phillies-replace-manager-charlie-manuel-third-base-coach-ryne-sandberg-named-interim-manager-081613
  13. I have a 6'-6" MH/F spinning. Love it, great rod. I second what others say, you will love them.
  14. I would second what lmb said about the carbonlite. I have one in spinning, awesome sensativity, not so great with with trebles, or top water. I use an ugly stick for that, I like the flex especially walking the dog or poping.
  15. Can't Balck n Gold is tooo close to Squealers colors......I wouldn't mind Francona getting into it with the indians, if the O's shall not make it. I have always liked his no BS hard approach. The rays have also been a favorite to win big for a while, they have filthy talent, cobb, moore and price rivals our hamels, halladay and lee. Thrown in hellikson and Torres. they are thin on Offense though. The NL is hard, I don't really like any other team, D backs maybe, Reds are good too.
  16. While that sounds awesome for the playoffs, all these super good teams playing it out... look at the teams who woulda thought other than the Texas, the Tigers and Dodgers on paper at the start of the year would be there. Pit, the best staff in all of ball....Runs allowed they are wouldn't be there if not.....Cleveland, Boston who sucked so bad last year with players like Nava, Carp and a resurgent Lackey and Bucholz. Arizona and baltimore, their young guys have maintained, and freaking KC royals are over 500 after the allstar break! get outta town! LOL
  17. They got a case up here in Jax a woman fired a warning shot from her gun at her husband(maybe ex husband) as he busted in and was coming at her there was documented physical abuse by him on her in the past. She is serving 20 or 25, stand your ground was used as her defense, and the judge didn't buy it. They are appealling, I feel bad for her she was just protecting her and her kids. But Derek is right, shoot to kill...dead men tell no tales.....But I don't own a gun, I tend to prefer big dogs LOL...good ol am bull and ain't nobody taking nothing from my yard or house. My old bulldog my buddy has, won't let no one in the house with out shaking their hand LOL

  19. Where is he gonna play? I hope not SS that is one of my platooners, and escobar has been better of late.

Gambler makes a great 10" ribbon tail. The also have 11" inch ledge worm. I like them because of color selection, and they are scented. Their ribbon tails have a more agressive ribbing than culprit or zoom. Kissimmee blue, blue shadow are a couple good ones. And they are pretty good on the wallet too, 4 bucks for 10.

My wife's biscuits and gravy, my grits n shrimp, her homemade hush puppies with honey and her trece leche cake or chocolate cake and a pint or two of stone levitation wash it down with a glass of laphroig cask to finish it off.
  22. So they sound like they are kin to the Jacksonville Jags. LOL
  23. I dunno some people like some crazy expensive stuff. If I could justify/afford a couple dream combos. I would, spinning, have a pflueger patriarch on a 7'6" m mf falcon low rider salt. Baitcasting couple abus mentioned look sweet but I would go with a new quantum tour mg on a Kistler, either a KLX or a custom either way it would be 7' h f

http://news.yahoo.com/conn-man-snags-striped-bass-063224003.html Pretty cool article, shows the pains taking lengths to replicate the forage in a way not expected, with sound, and the results speak for themselves. Do you all think bass are attracted to the sound of crawfish? How many use rattles with jigs, are the results better?
  25. I have only held the omens in store, but they feel just as light I am sure they are just as good or better sensitivity. Only thing I didn't like is the handles on both spinning and casting, like others say the carbonlites are very "comfortable" to fish and is one of my main reasons for liking it.
