  1. I hate braid in most situations as well.
  2. I went back to stren this year. After years of chasing the "perfect line", I have gone back to the original and it has not failed me. For the money I spend, I can respool twice as often for the same price and I think that I end up with much less memory with it. Trilene is my second choice but defininitly not the "Iron Silk".
  3. It may just be the beast.
  4. Dude, That is my cat in those pictures. He disappeared last month for a while. I guess you have some explaining to do!
  5. Me too..... the kids are gone.... oh wait you said snookin? my mistake
  6. I haven't been able to see any yet myself. There are none in my local cabelas.
  7. Anyone tried these? They look pretty good to me for warmer months.
  8. Try working a heavy carolina rig right into the weeds. If the panfish are out and about it may mean the bass aren't. Try pentrating the weeds to see if they are holed up there. What part of the country is this lake in?
  9. Today.... 4:30 PM CST 1 lb 4 oz keeper... first of a family tourny.. first one in the books for 08.
  10. I never finished a degree. I went into the military right out of high school and ended up staying and retiring. I am now 42, although I have a good job now, I am still working with the military so I haven't needed a degree. I would like to move away from that arena, but without a degree I would make considerably less. Another thing to look at is that my wife has a BA and during our 20 years of traveling with the army, she was able to get a well paying job at every destination and was never without a job for more than 2 weeks. Not finishing a BA or BS degree is the biggest regret of my life. I personally would look into another degree plan and find some thing that you are passionate about (fish and wildlife managment?) A little break to help you decide may be a good thing. Now if I can put the rod down long enough I need to finish my degree!
  11. My condolences :'( I spent a few months there last year. It was a tough time for me. Elephant Buttte is about 2 hours north in NM. Bass fishing is supposed to be pretty good there. That was the only place I could get an info on. Good luck and if you turn any thing up, don't keep it a secret!
  12. Maybe it is chaeaper to rasise trout instead of bass ;D
  13. I really don't have a dog in this fight because my license is free. I would only complain if I lived in a state that had no return on the investment. I have fished many states in this country and all had great fishing that is provided by licensing fees. I know that I pay a lot more for fuel for my boat, and truck this year. How much does it cost to transport 100,000 bass fry to a lake in a remote area of Texas to stock it? Shoot, I don't know but I bet someone would figure it out. Now, multiply that by all the lakes in the state. You get the picture. Then you have the biologists, technicians and maintenance workers for the hatcheries, Game wardens to protect the resource. Look at the pay rates of the biologists and techs for your state. Their compensation is not bad but is not in proportion to their education levels with the private sector pay rates. WHAT I SAY IS, GET ticked OFF ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE MUST DEPEND ON FOREIGN ENERGY SOURCES! That is one of our prime problems for all of our price increases in every factor of our lives!
  14. Nope, definitely hardware. Try plugging a different set if speakers in (you may have to talk to the neighbors for this one). See what happens. If they work, it is your speakers, if not it is the card. Like someone else said, if it is the card, install a new one and make it your default. You should have enough ports to leave the preinstalled/ on board card there and then bypass it. If you don't know how to do this let me know, I will be glad to help. Just PM me. If you have to repalce the card... don't go crazy, unless you listen to music or need sub woofers ect, a wal mart card is good. I am suspecting speakers, but it could be the card.
  15. I have recently been checking out google earth but the measurements seem grossly underproportioned. Anyone else see this pboblem? Or am I doing somthing wrong?
  16. And we all know AMERICANS love the underdog! Even though we haven't BEEN the underdog for a LONG time!
  17. We had a saying in the Army.... time spent in Reconnaissance is never wasted ( COL Kevin C.M. Benson, Colonel of armor), I personally feel that this is true in the sports arena as well. I know they don't get paid much to pay football though so they shouldn't have to change the way the play often or even have to change their signals. Poor dudes. The Pats earned their year.
  18. I have enjoyed this sight more than ANY other on the whole internet! Thank you all for your efforts! Merry Christmas to all of you!
  19. I said a prayer prior to posting this. More are on their way. Keep us posted on his recovery.
  20. Awesome...thanks fro the replies fellows!
  21. I have a ton of seasoned hackberry wood. Is it okay to burn? It is quite gummy when alive.
  22. Okay Keith, now I have to change tactics to keep you from bird dogging me. I'll have to go to stealth mode!
  23. I would say that he needs to make a catamaran with a plastic bubble that he can just look down into and just sight fish around the bubble. He could do this with 2 boats and one plastic bubble, 2 2X4's and alot of duct tape. As a matter of fact I may just go and make on tonight.... its only 10 PM. I'll send a report in the morning.
  24. Look at my quote and ask me again LOL. Trust no fisherman! Truth be told, I love to take someone out and show them alot of good spots. I have my favorites that I have found and no one else gets to go there. I usually tell the truth about how the fishing was but not the locations, unless it is somewhere well known.
