  1. Has anyone tried CLR? It is very strong stuff so I wouldn't leave them in long. I ahd a lot of condensation problems last year. I used those " DO NOT EAT" packets from shoes ect. They seemed to work with keeping moisture down.
  2. I got to watch the game...... pretty good. I am just glad the wind wasn't blowing or it was raining or I wouldn't have seen it on the dish LOL
  3. I used to travel to that area frequently. The sales tax was over 10% in 2005. There was a budget problem there for school districts and it shot up. I was floored one night in Clarksville when I got my billl in a bar and grill. Isn't here a Bass Pro in Clarkville, IN? Myself, I'd head there and bury the sisters body.
  4. off topic...... Long Mike, I am looking at the 522c myself this year. Let me know what you think. I am looking forward to your info!
  5. I have Progressive.... $291 for $26,000 worth of coverage for the boat and 3000 for gear. Thankfully, I haven't had to test them.
  6. I have the H2O and have enjoyed it.... for 95 bucks I would say grab it. Check the lowrance website and see if they have any enhanced maps for the lakes you will fish. The ones for my home lake seem very accurate and they are free! I use GPS slot for work and play.... I don't think that any one company provides better GPS sevice (and I have used most.... both in the US and abroad). I do like lowrance because they use SD cards which are cheap and apply to most computers.
  7. Even though I have taken breaks, fishing is the one hobby I always come back too since I was a kid.
  8. The only reason you guys are "Texans" is because Tennessee sent down the Volunteers! Well we'd have figured something out if you hadn't :-[
  9. OKAY.... First things first..... RW- IF WE WANT OUR YEARS TO START IN FLIPPING JULY... We will start them in July. THIS IS TEXAS and we don't always do things like you Tennesee yankees.
  10. here is a quick story and one I share with pride. My main partner is my son. He is 15 and an awesome angler. We are in a tournament this year for the total weight from 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2007. He is currently beating me by about 17 pounds. He doesn't know it but I would love for him to beat me!!!! I took him fishing for his first time when he was 3 years old. We are competing for the reel of our choice! Pretty soon I'l be handing over the keys to the truck and the boat! ALL I WANTED WAS A REVO!
  11. Without a doubt a 5lb'er would be a trophy in TX. I have not caught a certified 5 but caught a lot of 4 lb'rs. This year has been very good for larger smallies on Belton.
  12. How much does the Mexican License cost to fish those lakes?
  13. FLECHERO, You hit it on the head! We ahve been nailing Smallies all week, out there.
  14. FLECHERO, Can you tell where the pic in the above reply is?
  15. My son caught his PB smallie last night. 3# even, I thought he had a 10# LMB, no exageration!
  16. I would also throw a topwater early and late. Pop'r r a LC Sammy or copy. Work the edges of the reeds, the closer the better. The fishing should be awesome. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
  17. I finally looked at the photo wall. All I have to say is 1997 must have been a heck of a year. If you haven't perused those annals of bass fishing history I highly recommend it. Check out page 6, second picture from the top. Dang.
  18. Currently I have 4 rods on my boat. Becuase of the water that I fish I have put these combo's together for technique specific fishing. I use a Shimano M-L, 7ft spinning combo. For smaller, lighter crankbaits cast over long distance. I have a MH baitcasting oufit for carolina or texas rigs. I have a MH baitcasting oufit for spinnerbaits. This rig will switch to a wacky rigged senko if conditions warrant. I have a medium action spinning combo for poppers or drop shots. I have all 4 of these pre rigged for my trip based on where I plan to fish. I have found that picking the sight and planning the trip allows me to have what I need ready. I rarely have to switch any baits during my trip. Just my 2 cents.
  19. I believe in good line. I remember when Stren came out and the advantage that it provided. Now that I am old thoughI still use Stren or Trilene mainly. I have one heavy action rod with braid but I still use that mono. I have not tried floro as of yet because of the tint of the waters that I fish. Often times you can tell aot about a line by just letting it come off the spool, some have so much memory just from the spool due to the composition and age as well. Watch for good line that is on sale, it may be much better than expected. An old buddy of mine pretty much quit fishing about 5 years ago (yeah, he is still my buddy). He agve me a bunch of line that he had laying around and I took it on a boy scout fishing weekend. This trilene line (6lb) was 5 years old and as strong as the new stuff I had on my rod. I was very impressed. These same rods with that same old line will go out this weekend to a private stock pond and I have every confidence that the line will perform fine. I will let you know.
  20. This ahds been a boom to my fishing. I ahve tired many things that I wouldn't have given a second thought to if I had read it in a magazine. I have talked to many people here. Even bought some stuff from some. The wealth of information is almost overwelming especially when seeking info about a distant lake. This is truly a fishing blessing. Skillet.... we will fish someday!!! Flechero.... you as well! So many wonderful people.
  21. I used a bleach bottle filled with sand worked perfect and no chance of a puncture.
  22. If you are fishing man made ponds, look at the shoreline, usually it will teell you what it looks like underwater. Try snorkeling the pond, I used to do this on LOng Island in alll of my ponds. I found some amazing places and it will surprise you how close a bass will let you get. Not for everyone but it is no more cheating than a fish finder LOL. And a whole lot easier to figure out!
  23. I just got back from walmart... they are still selling fishing tackle. 9:23 PM 31 AUG 07. I am gonna watch this and report daily until they quit... which I think they should.
  24. I bought a Lowrance iFinder H20. i paid 169.00 for it. It has proven to be a very good system and is water proof. This can a big plus. If you are going to have it out on the boat, you will want this feature. Lowracne provides free maps to som lakes on their website. you can check it out in advance and see if it helps you. Both of my favorite lakes have very detailed maps and they are not too popular. I have used many systems and can say they all eat batteries. Mine has a power adapter (cigarette plug) for the boat which helps. One thing to also look at is the media that you can use, lowrance uses a SD card and accepts upto 512MB. This is important if you plan on storing data. The most important thing is that it is accurate. I dropped 2 brushpiles this year and even with 40+ feet of flooding (read no landmarks), I can still locate them quickly. Good luck with the search. I got a lot of good advice at Academy.
