  1. right now my trolling motor is a hand controlled minnkota 27#. Its the next thing I will need for my boat, a decent foot controlled trolling motor. Humminbird will exchange that transducer for mine and I should end up with a better picture too??? NICE. for me the frustrating part is waiting with the unit sitting there without being able to use it. I guess its all for the best, I will end up with a way better product.
  2. When I woke up today I saw that the helix was back on stock on bass pro and I immediately ordered it. Im so pumped. Do I need a trolling motor mount for the transducer on the front?
  3. Those pics are awesome compared to the little info I would get from my down scan. Down scan is useless compared to this
  4. Wow buddy thanks for taking the time to write a post like that and help me clear all my doubts. It was the kind of information I needed! Happy new years!
  5. Pretty much my budget is around $500. I want a fishfinder with the capability to do a bunch of things my lowrance elite 4x dsi lacked. As you can see in torn between a couple features. I primarily want a fishfinder for the front of my 12' jon boat. I want to be able to have a good sonar and the chart plotter wasn't important until I found out about autocharts. There are no maps for the lakes of puerto rico. Then there's side imaging that will really help me figure out lakes. I don't like the fact that with si is more of a console unit with the transducer on the back of the boat vs one in the front making the image more current and I feel I'm being feed a live image. Helix 5 si- looks like a great unit with si, gps so that I can upgrade with auto charts any time I want. It's hard to get right now. Dragonfly - looks awesome. Best image I have ever seen. Very bright lots of features. Doesn't make maps with the gps unit Hum 398ci everything I want way cheaper with a small screen:( for $500 I can even have it with auto charts. Hum 859ci - doesn't have si everything else is very nice. Big screen! Lots of features! Says it's 360 compatible!!!! Does that mean I have to pay a $ 1000 to buy the transducers and parts or what? ?? What do you guys think?
  6. Me too lol I "need" another spinning combo
  7. Have they announced a time for the sale yet?
  8. Thank you very much guys I have been watching the videos time and time again and still can't get them mastered. If I can't get bass shallow I have to get them any way i can, I need these as a plan c. At least the Carolina I can throw it if things go wrong. I gotta say that it's a tournament where every legal bass counts so plan A and B are number catching bass rigs. Thanks again guys
  9. My little history on these: Carolina rig I have thrown it a couple times. I have caught fish on it. One I think and lost one the same day. So I think it works in my deep clear reservoirs. I have a kinda long distance from the weight at around 2.5 feet. I have an important tournament coming up and I will love to be able to use this rig for deeper water if my finesse rig on shallow waters is catching me little fish like it did the last tournament I fished there. So his do you detect bites? How fast do your drag this? Best baits? It's a very hot summer here in Puerto Rico. Drop shot: do you shake it? Leader length had always puzzled me. Where do you guys fish this?
  10. daiwa ballistics 7'2 ml are at around 58$ in TW with a pflueger president 50$. I have that combo and it is great, I love it! the reel is SMOOOOOTH and the rod is sensitive enough and well balanced to my liking.
  11. Living in Puerto Rico means everything I buy is found online. there are a couple very small tackle stores in the island but both are around a 1.5 hour drive. I order exclusively through TW. they have the best customer service, they offer 2nd day ups to us here which is the option I always pick and for a great price. BPS wants to rip us off. The shipping for rods longer than 7' is obsene. their regular shipping takes over 3 weeks to get here. Its absurd. I hate waiting. The thing with TW is that I have to make a good order so that the shipping money is not a waste. If I only have money to buy two lures or 2 packages of plastics or small stuff I buy it on fleabay. Now when im on vacation on the states going to the store is like a tourist trip of its own lol annoying time share sales and all.
  12. im asking now because I will buy before sale ends
  13. im looking at a ton of baitcasters in this range and I cant pick one that is better than the others. Every time I think Im gonna get one I find a review of other product and end up changing my mind. Im looking at: Lews tournament MG Daiwa lexa 100 daiwa t 3 ballistic bp tournament pro shimano citica shimano curado(if on a deal) abu revo S Im thinking a 6.3:1 or close. I want to use 10# invisx on it. Its going to be used for jerkbaits, mostly lucky crafts pointer 78 dd and xd. the rod will be a *** 6'7 M F as Ive heard many great things about these in regards of quality and even compared to reels in the 250$ range. the two most important things for me are casting distance and ability to cast light lures. ALL input is appreciated.
  14. Ive seen quite a hype for it from some of the senior members of the forum. So i bought a couple in 1/8 and 3/32 long bills. I have already rigged some with a tiny fluke, a shad bait, 2 straight tails and a swimbait. Two questions: how do you fish it and what are the best conditions to fish it?(im thinking a stop and go retrieve will work great in my home lake) Whats your favorite plastics for it? Third question: What are the requirements to join the scrounga club?lol
  15. you havent seen how crappy fishing sections are in Puerto Rico
  16. Im about to clean and service 2 baitcasters that i own. One is a daiwa laguna and the other is a lews speed spool. I want them to fly like the article here. I will polish some parts also. The only thing I dont have is reel oil or grease. I have pepboys sears and a auto paint store that i will visit to get some acetone. Is there a good oil and grease that i can get on their shelves?
  17. If money was not a problem I would buy an ugly stick 6' spinning ML paired with a zebco and 20 pound vanish fished with the guides up like a baitcaster
  18. sorry I probably got confused between the vendetta 2 that does have a 6'3 or the gloomis jerkbait rod as I was checking both of those out. how good are those vendetta rods? that vendetta at 79.99 is tempting(i was using a spinning bps brawler for jerkbaits anything is better) Right now I think im gonna get a st croix Mojo rod in 6'6 at $100. its a little cheaper than the quantum smoke and I think the quality is the same.
  19. I mean long rod for jerkbaits as i will be jerking towards the water. I use 7'7 for crankbaits. im gonna check how much is the chronarch, a friend has a couple shimano baitcasters and those reels are awesome
  20. Ive been thinking about a 6'3 veritas or a quantum 6'6 both are medium fast paired with a Daiwa Lexa 100 because its a reel that can cast light lures. Any suggestions? should I pick a micro guide rod or a normal one? veritas has both options but both are shorter. Im 5'10 also i cant use a very long rod. my budget is around 250 with shipping. I think I can buy one thing first like the reel and then the other. Ive had veritas(a 7feet mh) before and I like that rod.

  23. mine will probably end in your hands! I need a trolling motor and a jerkbait combo.
  24. I did it for the first time this week and it is extremely sensitive, I love it, I didnt lose a single bite!!! I just got sx1 and Im getting everything ready for tomorrow!
  25. from timmy horton? i dont think I want anything designed by him...
