  1. I usually start by standing away from the bank and throwing texas rigged worms. Once I have fished that area well i will approach the shoreline. My number one lure for bank fishing is a spinnerbait. I throw them parallel to the shore as opposed to cast straight out because it keeps it in the strike zone longer.
  2. Thanks for the tip, Goose. I will check that out. I really like Shimano rods. I have a couple Cumaras that are a joy to fish with. One spinning with a CI4 2500 and a MH casting with a Curado. I was looking at G. Loomis and found the Classic Casting line. They are a little above the price I'm at but ebay may have some deals. I'm thinking about the IMX series either the CR722 or CR723. It would just be another couple weeks of setting cash aside.
  3. Let me start by saying that I discovered this site a month or two back and I love it. Tons of good info, lots of helpful people, and an overall great community of sportsmen. I am looking for a BC setup for spinnerbaits/topwater/t-rigs in the 6 ft range. It will be used in tight areas where making a cast with a 7 ft rod maybe difficult. It will probably be matched with my Chonarch 50mg unless I decide to buy a new reel as well. I would like the rod to handle 1/4-3/4 oz range, M or MH power, and fast action. As far as price, $125-$175 is the price point I am at. Does anyone use a short rod like this? I would love some ideas of what to look at. Thanks
  4. Hey everyone, I just recently got back into fishing after a taking a couple years off for college and then again when I got into guns for a while. I stumbled upon this site and wow am I impressed. I don't have very many friends or family, other than my dad, who really enjoys fishing so it has been nice reading all the info on the site. A bit about myself and experience. I am in my mid 20s currently living in East TN. I travel alot for work (like 3-4 months onthe road at a time) so I figured getting back into fishing would help me cope with being away from my family so much. I grew up fishing just about any water I could; local ponds, creeks, canals where I grew up in FL and TN; did alot of inshore saltwater fishing for reds and specs; and currently I am fishing alot of farm ponds right now that my Father in Law build and stocked over the years on his farm. My current goal in the realm of fishing is to purchase a boat in the next few years; if I can manage to stay away from buying more rods and reels than i can keep in my garage. Stephen
  5. Hey everyone, Was hoping to find someone from the area that maybe able to give some information regarding Lake Ray Roberts or other surrounding lakes. I am in the area on work for a couple of weeks and been trying to do some fishing to keep me sane while I'm away from my family. I have been hitting Lake RR a few times with no luck. Been mostly fishing the access off roads but have gone to the Ray Roberts State Park. I try to go either in the evening after work or early Sunday mornings. I have been using a 7'3" MH baitcasting setup and throwing either jigs, spinnerbaits, and texas rigged worms and craws. If anyone can provide some help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Stephen
