  1. NASCAR race. No woman can withstand the power of freshly cutoff jean shorts.
  2. You can find Daiwa Tatulas on Ebay for $100. I am loving mine so far.
  3. I started when I was 14 and am 28 now. Been off and on the wagon too many times to count. This last time I've been over a year. The gum worked for me and would recommend it to anyone trying to kick the habit.
  4. Yeah I meant the anodized parts. Looks cool, don't think it's my cup of tea. The handles on the other hand I will be taking a closer look at.
  5. Looks good. What's the benefit of having this done?
  6. I think you will want a casting setup. More cranking power.
  7. I try to match the diameter of the braid or go up a size. Probably doesn't matter too much as it should never see daylight.
  8. I am looking around for a decent crankbait rod but there are so many options in the $150 range. I am going to pair this rod with a Daiwa Tatula 6.3:1 reel and use it mainly for shallow to medium depth cranks, say 4-12 ft. Does anyone have some good first hand experience they would share? I would like a length of 7'-7'3" but am open for a little longer. TackleTour has a very positive review for the Luck Craft rod that is a 7'0" Medium power that has caught my eye, but I have never heard of them other than that reveiw.
  9. I'm putting my tin foil hat on for this one!
  10. I have a 6'8" worm rod that I like a lot. It excels in tight quarters but I prefer a 7'0" or even a 7'3" for an all around rod. I don't think you will regret a shorter rod or jigs and worms but that is my $0.02. On the subject of the crankbait rod, I would go with a 7'0" rod at a minimum. Longer casts mean covering more water which is the purpose of crankbait fishing. I also think a 6.3:1 will suit you better than a 5.4:1 as a general purpose crankbait reel.
  11. I was at my neighborhood Gander Mountain and they had a Curado 50e in box. The box look a little rough and had security wire around it so i didn't open it. Was a bit amazed that they could still be in a big box retail store.
  12. I can vouch for Jake. We have a house on Tims Ford and use him whenever we want a guide. He will launch the boat and pick us up at our dock. Very nice guy.
  13. You can just tie the line to the new spool and reel it right on from the old spool. Your new line will have lots of memory due to being wrapped tightly and being on the small diameter but give it a soaking in kvd and troll it next time you're out to get any twists out of it.
  14. Powell Max 683, 703, 704, 734. All those will do what you need. I really like the 4 power. I can cast a 3/16 bullet weight and plastic well and can handle pitching half ounce jigs and trailers.
  15. I had an LCP and sold it a while back. Great carry gun just needed some cash. I rarely carry now but keep a Glock 23 when I'm travelling.

That is about the saddest thing I have heard lately. Both the pistols I own are .40s (Glock 23 and XD40). The two other guys in my office both have .40s as well. I'd say its most peoples go to behind the 9mm and maybe the .45.
  17. Braid hands down. It casts great, had no memory, is easy to get backlashes out, and will last forever. Stay clear of flouro while you are learning. Mono can be ok bc it is cheap but still not better than braid imo. Go for something in the 40-50 lb range.
  18. I will say that with a reel you plan on using for Texas rigs you want at a minimum of a 6:1 ratio reel. This will help pick up slack line quickly as you move the bait by raising and lowering your rod tip and to help if the fish picks up your bait and runs toward you. I really love my Chronarch 200e7. I have used the Lews reals a few times (the guide I use has them) and they are good but overall I prefer the Shimano. I have 3 Curado 200e7s a 200e5 and a Chronarch 50mg (in addition to the Chronarch 200e7) that I have had for years and never had an issue with them, and I am very tough on my gear.
  19. Looks fine, as long as you are not feeling any resistance when you reel you should be in good shape.
  20. Check the articles. They have a ton of information on every season.
  21. I bought a tfo 6' light spinning rod last year as my panfish rod and have it matched with a shimano sahara 1000 that I have had forever. Really like this set up and the rods are in your price range.
  22. #40 Power Pro. It has the diameter of #10 mono and is very manageable. I keep it on most of my reels. If the need comes I will add 5-6 ft of 10-12 lb floro leader..
  23. Fishing with a guide for redfish once we were chasing flocks of birds. Sometimes folks would come up and try to get into our spot. The guide had a nice little trink to take care of the poachers. He would through his jighead about 3 feet in front of there boat and let their trolling motor rip off about 20 yards of braid be fore breaking off. That would slow them down enough and eventually they learned to steer clear. Typing from phone. Excuse grammar and misspellings.
  24. Going to agree with the others on a used Curado. Either a 200G6 or G7 will suit your needs just fine.
