  1. You can find an used Shimano Citica 200e for that price range. It's about as good as you can get in that price range.
  2. Leaving out some key info such as all the rod specs.
  3. #15 PP braid. Has a very small dia. and is very easy to manage. I have never been a fan of floro with spinning reels. It just seems to have a mind of its own. The braid however cast very well and behaves well on the spool.
  4. I'm using a heavy power, fast action 7'3" for split duty on Carolina rigs and Football jigs. Mine is a Powell Max, but I don't think you can go wrong with a Dobyns Champion from all the great things I have read about them.
  5. There is a very popular online retailer that a lot of users on here use. I'm pretty sure it is against the forums rules to post that stuff. I will send it to you as a PM however.
  6. You could get one of those neoprene thumb guards that I have seen advertised sometimes. Buyer beware: just like a fanny pack if your friends see you wearing one, you may never live it down.
  7. Pretty broad question here. For shallow cranks like squarebills that you are throwing in timber you can get away with 15-20 lb. From there the smaller diameter, will in theory, get you deeper given a few extra variables. For most general purposes I use 10-12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid. I like mono or floro for cranks since I don't use a traditional Moderate action rod for cranking and it gives more than braid.
  8. Mainly time constraints. Work too much during the week to make it to bps. That and they dont always have a replacement in stock.
  9. I'm 5'10" and also fish primarily from shore. For the past season I have been using a Powell Max 704. Which is a 7' Heavy action with an XF tip. I bought it pre-owned from Chris at Northstar and it is a sweet piece. I throw just about anything on it from weightless senkos to swim jigs to bottom bouncing 1/2 oz brush jigs. If you get the chance to try one out I really recommend it. Its not a broomstick but still has the power to pull fish through the weed and cat tails I fish.
  10. Hey guys, Just wanted to give a quick praise to the Shimano Rod Warranty Team. My Cumara's tip snapped and I sent it to their facility. With USPS tracking I saw it was delivered on 6/21/13. I called them today to check on the status and since I have never used their CS before was curious on their turn around. Low and behold they sent out my brand new replacement rod earlier today (6/24/13). It's refreshing to see that kind of CS and feel they deserved a quick shout out. I did not send them any proof of purchase along with the rod either.
  11. I have been having a lot of fun this summer catching them on a 1/4 oz white swim jig with a grub trailer. The pond I fish has a lot of grass so I swim the jig right over the grass and have been catching more on that than anything else in the past.

  13. Sucks but let us know about the cumara. I have two of them and have been curous how that warranty would work out.
  14. TW has the 7'4" H F for $149.99. That is a great price for the rod. Tried to post a link but it wasn't having it.
  15. I am working on this as well. I use a 1/4 oz arkie jig and a Rage Chunk or Paca Craw. My reel is a Chronarch 200e7 and a 6'8" MH XF Cumara Rod. I personally like Flouro as I feel it helps get the bait moving faster, quicker. I have had the best results with a fast, two-handed cast as parallel as possible. The videos are both very good; I watched them before I started this process.
  16. Looking at your "Topics" in your profile you have started 3 threads all about the money minnow in the last day. Why continue to start new threads about the same topic?
  17. Remind me not to to leave anything alone around you.
  18. 6'8" Cumara MHXF. It's a sweet rod and can probably be found in your price range.
  19. 6'6" Fast action with a lure rating of 1/4-3/4 and 12-20 lb line. That may vary between a M and MH depending on manufacturer.

Can't go wrong with White or Chartreuse or White/Chartreuse. I like 3/8-1/2 oz but you may want to go heavier if you are fishing deep. I have had my best luck with double silver Willow blades. Water clarity would dictate which blades and color skirt you would use. I don't use plastic trailers, I do use a trailer hook though.
  21. Once some more info comes out on the Lexa 100 I may be giving up on my Curados. At $139.99 they have some great potential.
  22. What????? That is the stupidest justification for stealing I have ever heard. I have had things stolen in the past and even had the joy of busting one of them trying to sell the copper they took at the scrap yard. While he is sitting in prison I can't help but feel guilty because he must of thought it was abandoned copper. Sorry to hear about that BC. There are some miserable people in the world.
  23. I started bass fishing at your age on neighborhood ponds in my town. Plastic worms were my bread and butter. Rig them weightless and just cast out and slowly lift your rod tip. Good luck let us know if you have anyother questions.
