Trapper Tackle Hooks
Looks like a great way to snap a hook

Havoc Pit Boss
I use them on C-Rigs and do well. Also a very good swim jig trailer.

Jig rod action
I just got a 744 and it feels like a nice stick. A bit tip heavy. It's action and power are what I would consider MH-F.

Best River Lures?
I spend the majority of my time on a fairly small river fishing for smallies. About 75% of my fish come on a Green Pumpkin or Black (depends on water clarity) Ultra Vibe Speed Craw with a 3/16 ounce spot remover. The rest come on a variety of squarebills, ned rigs, topwaters, and spinnerbaits. After a redfishing trip I took a page from their book and started using a safety pin style spinnerbait with a 4" paddletail swimbait. River smallies are not really shy when it comes to eating. More about finding the right kind of water that will be holding them and putting it in front of them.

Lipless Cranks Reel
I use a 50 size Shimano with 30# PP. I mostly throw smaller traps in the 1/4oz range. If I were to throw 1/2oz and larger I would opt for a 200 size reel since you can really bomb them.

I only check this forum 10x a day and I still missed this post. Awesome group of folks. I'll remember to keep an eye out for it next year.

1 piece 6ft UL
AVS60LF would be a good fit. It's $180 but I'm sure with a little looking could find it around $150. It only weights 2.5oz.

Curado 70 line capacity
Is there a formula for reel capacity? Like if a 70 size reel has a capacity of 105 yards of .011" diameter line then it has a capacity of x yards of .015" diameter line.

Best Line to Use for Finesse Fishing (spinning reel)
I use a few different lines on my light action spinning rods. 10#PP, 5# Sunline Sniper, and 4# BPS Excel mono.

Lure restocking
Things I always have on hand when on the river: 1. Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw - Green Pumpkin & Black 2. 3/16 oz Spot Remover Shakeyheads I started throwing a Ned Rig this winter and have been doing well with it. Been really likeing the Coppertreuse and The Deal TRD on a 1/10 oz shroom head.

Braided, Monofilament, or Fluorocarbon line?
I use Braid with a FC leader on baitcasters 90% of the time. I'll use mono on my treble hook setup. Not sold on FC as a mainline. It definitely stretches despite what others say. Try to break the line when you are hung and see how much it stretches. FC as a leader is a good idea in rocky areas due to its abrasion resistance. The biggest benefit to FC is slack line sensitivity, which YMMV. It's not a high priority to me.

Reel advice for a St Croix Avid 6'6 ML
Right now I have 15# Power Pro braid with a 8# FC leader, but once I can get a spare spool will have one with 6# FC as a back up. I use this setup as my wading rod in a small river near my house. Mostly throwing 1/15oz Ned Rigs, size 7 rapalas, 3" grubs & 4" worms with 1/16-3/32 oz lead.

Different lines need different knots
Palomar with braid and San Diego Jam with fluorocarbon.

Reel advice for a St Croix Avid 6'6 ML
If you don't need the extra line capacity I would go with a 1000 sized reel. I have a 1000 Ci4 on a 7' Light St. Croix and it has been my new favorite toy.

Redfish in Houma, LA
Man, I just got back from Port Sulphur, LA and I felt the same way. To be sight fishing big redfish is a blast and makes you jealous of the folks that get to do that on a regular basis. Makes you reconsider how heavy of tackle we use for bass fishing too!

Ultra light spinning reel for St. Croix travel rod
I agree. I have a first model 2500 and it has been a champ. So when I was in the market for a new creek setup it was my first choice. Only down side of the new model is parts won't be available for a few months. This is per Shimano Customer Service. I was really wanting to get a second spool. One for braid and one for fluoro.

Ultra light spinning reel for St. Croix travel rod
Check out a Stradic Ci4 1000. I just got one and it is super light (5.6 ounces.) I have it on a light power st croix (legend elite) that weighs 3.2 ounces and it balances very well. It is an awesome little reel. Highly recommend.

Thanks. They don't have the new models on there yet. I guess I will be making a call to them.
