Heaviest bass of the board
Nice fish and all, but tell me more about this rod setup on your yak.

St Croix Mojo Inshore for freshwater too?
Inshore salt water fishing uses a lot of the same gear as bass fishing. It just requires a healthy rinse off after use.

Points
pre and post spawn i generally find them on secondary points. That is points between mainlake points and spawning areas. After that I'm looking at main lake points. I like rocky, long tapered points, personally.

Who Uses Braid for Their Top Waters and What Test?
For walkers and poppers I use 30-40# PP. Only downside to braid is that it gets hung on the hooks easier and unlike mono you can't just shake your rod tip to fix it; you have to use your hands to unwrap the line from the hooks. I never feel like I get very good hooksets from a kayak with mono either.

Line For Finesse Baitcaster
Since some of those applications will require sensitivity on slack line, braid is not a good option. I agree with A-Jay that 10# FC is a good option.

Underutilized bass lures
Smallie Candy right there.

Trouble with Flourocarbon memory
I've yet to find a reason to go full FC, but I'm usually in a kayak or wet wading and my rods are limited. Full FC means you cant throw topwaters. I use braid on all my setups then add a FC leader when necessary. No issues with line jumping off the spool and I still have all my options as to what I throw.

I need a light finess spinning set up - 350 USD budget
My vote goes to the Avid X 7' ML F or the 6'9" ML XF Then get the best reel you can with the rest of your budget. I use a St. Croix 7' L F with a 1000 Stradic Ci4+ spooled with 10# braid. From what I read you probably want to step up a power.

anyone use a president baitcaster?
Yep. It is a baitcaster. It's an old model so may not have the same specs. It used to retail at $129. Here is a review of it. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpfluegerpresident.html

anyone use a president baitcaster?
I have a Pres that is about 10 years old now. Still works like a champ.

Favorite Craw for T-Rig , C-Rig or Shaky Head ?
Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw on a 3/16 ounce shakey is my go to. I had a couple great days with a C-Rigged 4" Havoc Pit Boss last year too.

Crappie specific rod and reel combo
I like a longer rod. My setup is a 7' St Croix LF, Shimano 1000, 10# braid w/ 4-6# mono or FC leader. If the water is stained I skip the leader. If you are going to be casting lures lighter than 1/16th I think a UL would be better.

The Booyah Prank
Anyone have a video of it in action? I've never been one on the bleeding edge of innovation, but with how well the Whopper Plopper did for me last year I may jump on this early too.

Jig Rod Setup
More important than what you are throwing is where you are throwing it.

6' M/F casting rod, good for what?
walk the dog baits, spinnerbaits, poppers. Put some 10 or 12 # mono on it and you can just about do it all.

Finesse Spinning Rod - Replacing MXF/MLF Rods
I have the LE 7' light and it is my absolute favorite rod I own. I'm sure the ML is just as good.

FC or Braid for Chatterbaits
I like braid on a slower rod and mono/fc on a faster rod. A bladed jig with braid and an extra fast rod is like driving over the buzz strips on the highway.

Opinion on Keitech Rod
I throw them on a 6'8" MF Cumara spinning rod.
-
Stradic ci4 1000 and braid
I have this reel and use a couple turns of 6# mono then tie on 10# braid.

Long rods are finally coming to market
If I did any deep cranking I would consider a 9 foot cranking rod.

The Notorius Whopper Plopper
I love the 90 size. The hooks are very sticky outside of the box. Be careful of flopping fish. I had a smallie jump out of my hand and bury two of the hooks in my pinky and ring finger, while the smallie was this attached... Not fun to deal with on your own. I did have the split ring on the front hook break, so you may want to replace those. One tip on the retrieve is to keep your rod tip high until you get it up and moving. The 90 has a tendency to go nose down and spin.

Creek Smallmouth
Yesterday was my first day out this year and I'll share what worked for me. Water was up about a foot due to recent rain, but still had a couple feet visibility. Air temp was around 78 and water temp around 58-60. All fish came right above a set of rapids where the water started to narrow down. Ended up catching 8 between 12"-15" on a tiny brush hog in green pumpkin rigged on a 1/10th ounce shroom head. I was expecting to catch them in the slack behind the rapids, but after no bites there I tried out above. I've had other days when it is the opposite. Best tip I can give is get your feet wet and do some exploring. Once I did that I started catching way more fish.

How Would You Matchup The Following Rods & Reels?
Rod and reel setups are so much personal preference you really need to try them out to see what works for you. In general I like faster reels on rods that are working jigs, plastics, topwaters, and jerkbaits. I like medium speed for spinnerbaits and mid to shallow diving cranks, and slow reels for the deep diving cranks and baits that have a lot of water resistance.

Not catching fish
What size head are you using on the ned rig? The general idea is that you use a little weight as possible so it won't hang up. It just softly lands on the bottom and the buoyant elaztech will keep the bait standing up. If you are using more than a 1/16 oz its too heavy.

Creek smallie migration
I fish a small tributary of the Cumberland River in Nashville about 15-20 miles from the mouth. Fishing is hot up until later in the fall and then they all but disappeared. Usually picks up when temps are in the 60s. Which this year should be around now. I just haven't had the chance to dust off the kayak yet to test it out.
