  1. I would think you would understand the fish ability of your premier then, with the much better components and American made blank, over the Triumph made for those that don't know the difference. I mean I suppose there are many who caught fish on a can pole all weekend, and maybe even a branch with line on it! believe me there is a difference though, there are more components than a grip that make that difference!!! I can catch as many fish on my BPS Extreme, but I prefer my Legends and Avids, trust me,,,,I know the difference,,,,,,,
  2. Yes lighter and more sensitive than most think, plus very durable, I have a MH 6' Cat and Carp river rod that has caught many fish over 20 lbs. some in very swift currents, I beat the crap out of this rod and other than replacing the top guide, in 10 or 12 years it has never failed me.
  3. They are not paying you to buy from them,,, this should be a real good indication what you are getting when you buy a $50.00 fishing rod! Think about it,
  4. I like a fast action, but for the past year, the Legend Extreme 7'2" MHM has been very impressive, if under 3/8 oz. I like a MF 7' Avid.
  5. They are discounting the shipping and making up for it with rod price, which is many times still less than retail.
  6. Yep its just to please those and make sales to those that don't have a clue, or like the split grip fad. the Premier is much nicer rod with better components, but the users this rod targets don't have a clue that those things matter. Just gett'n in on the sales that so many other foreign made rods are cashing in on. As long as they continue with their Legends and Avids,,,,,,their not forgett'n anyone! I am gett'n ready to build a new Light rod,,,,it will have a full cork handle and probably an Avid blank,,,,which I think are the best buy on the market, and very close to the SCV blanks, that I don't feel can be beat at any price,,,,kudos to St. St Croix for trying to please everyone, regardless of their wants.
  7. St Croix 7' MHF Avid is what I use, some say it is rated a little lighter than what it actually is and think it is close to a HF. usually can be found around $190.00 new, Made in the USA and is backed by the best CS in the industry w/ a Liftime Warranty!.
  8. Hit the same spot again with the other grandson,,,,only one gill this time, a 10"er but 24 Perch the smallest was 11" 21 over 12" It aint no fluke this is perch hole, I just can't figure where the rest of the gill's are? no throwbacks either???
  9. You can tell the ones that never had Walleye or yellow Perch. The only way I have found to make trout worth eat'n is get enough smoke in it to eliminate it's taste! Snapper is good but takes a backseat to Wallaye and Perch!
  10. I'll stick with answering all time, and that be easy******Jimmy Page****** and with all these mentioning there favorites instead of "BEST" ,,,,,,again "Jimmy Page",,,,,,,where the HE!! is the love for Stephen Stills?????? Best on acoustical guitar, anyways in my book, and not even an honorable mention here.
  11. Marinade them in a Kosier salt brown sugar garlic allspice lemon pepper and Cyan brine for about 8 to 12 hours, and smoke em w/apple or cherry wood at 220 degree's takes about 2 hours or so when there 140 degree in the center pull em, keep good smoke on em the first 1 hour after that just let the heat do it's thing. Let cool and you can be assured this about as good as it get's with Rainbow. The brine should be kinda salty but kinda sweet, with you adding the other ingredients to suite your personal taste. I'm kinda spoiled, if ain't Walleye Perch or gill's, smoke will make most others edible, but I would rather smoke white bass than rainbow!! If you can't smoke em, and have a cat,,,,,,well it might eat em????

X2 here too, I have three sons and 3 sisters that all use other or no protection, all tell me I'm uses old technology that's intrusive, all have had problems that cost them cleaning cost in the last 5 years. I may have some legit chit stopped but I don't have trash allowed, and my personal info stays that way. I'll take no virus, and privacy over convenience anyday,,,,heck I'm to old to survive most virus's, and to old fashioned to have others in my business,, I mean I'm already on blood pressure med's!!!
  13. Pretty hard to beat a jig or a T-rigged 7" crawler, maybe because these lures work so good in heavy cover,,,,seem's to be where I catch the majority of my biggest Largemouth as well as most of my Largemouth. both my PB Smally and my LM both came on tiny baits, the Largemouth fishing for Crappie in the Spring with a Mepp's Spinner, and the Smallmouth came while fishing for Perch,,,,,,,location, location, location. Everyone knows that size matters, only applies to the results!!
  14. The Lew's Super Duty is a very nice heavy crank'n reel in 5.4:1 @ 23 IPT and very comfortable to palm, well below $175.00 I am very happy with mine.
  15. I tried em more than once, the spinning reels were very short lived, after that I tried a baitcaster, but at the time being used to Abu's, they really didn't have a chance, today I have reel's that give me no reason to give em another chance for disappointment. I do service them once in a great while though, and what I see gives me reason for doubt in there ability to keep that smooth new feeling as long as most, besides I'm helping keep the cost down for others. I have to say I think they make more lower priced models, and as far as pro's using them, they can have brand new reels every tournament and it's all on Quantum! But rely on their endorsements heavily,,,,,,maybe this is one reason???
  16. This is true definitely better materials, but you get the refinements for 1/4 the price. Like I said I would love to have them, but at $350 -$450. more than the Sustain and Stradic,,,,,,I'll live with the difference, till my bank account is a little better healed anyway!!
  17. indeed, I like 10 Sufix 832 with a 4 to 8# flouro leader, a super lightweight blank, and a smooth drag, anything from bluegill to Stealhead!
  18. X3 the Front drag is much better in my opinion. The QF is only used on reels with out instant AR, since the Symetre has instant AR that isn't an option. You will definitely smile when you use the FJ over your older one.
  19. well then is there a multi discount available,,,,,,,,just kidd'n, like anything else, I would have them if money was no object, their better just not $350.00 to $450.00 better. The thing I have to consider is money for other goodies. It always cost more for better equipment, and once you get to the top the price goes up much more for less gain, the Stradic is a great reel the Sustain better but for 100 bucks more I am limited to the outfits I use them for, and have justified a couple Sustains, the Sustain to the Stella is like the same jump in quality but over 350 bucks more, so my limit is drawn here, if I had the money, yes I would be willing to pay it to have the best!! The sad thing is when the Stellas have a few years on them and a couple model changes, with the drop in price for used reels, the new Sustains and Stradics are sharing most of the technology with these couple model older Stella's. So if you like the new Stella and can't justify the price, wait 4 or 5 years and you will have very close to the same reel in a new Sustain or slightly less in a new Stradic. I had a couple FH Stradics this past winter in for repairs, and even though Shimano didn't stock some of the parts anymore, I found them from some of my other parts suppliers. The 4000FH parts I was given the contact from Shimano service where I might get them. I have had to look and check with a few suppliers but have always been able to get parts for older Shimano's so far, As for current reel's yes I two have been a little upset having to wait for parts to be available, and have lost some repairs because of it. % years ago this happened far less and when it did on small parts Shimano used to just take my name and address and send them N/C. This was on some parts under 5 or 6 bucks, now you pay for everything, even inflated shipping!!
  20. I think the MHM 7'2" Extreme is as close to a one rod multi purpose for cranks, spinners, and T and C rigs as their ever was, the drawback I see to using it for smaller cranks and s-bills is throwing the lighter lures, and it is the MM Avid I turn to for a two rod perfect set up for most Crank'n, it throws the smaller baits better and is more forgiving with the smaller trebles and lighter line. I like having MHF ready for jigs but most times (as I am not tournament fishing) am well covered with these two rods.
  21. Largemouth on a Mep's Spinner while on a small private lake Crappie fishing, 6lbs 8oz. My best Smallmouth came on a perch rig w/ 2 standoff's and baited with dead minnows cut in half, it weight 7lbs. 6oz. while fishing on Lake Erie. The cool thing about why I was Perch fishing where I caught this smallmouth, was that I found these huge Perch after catching a few while Smalmouth fishing. It was one of my favorite Smallmouth reefs and on a couple occasions we would catch Perch over 14" while fishing tubes , so I tried it with Perch rig's and it ended up being my very best Jumbo Perch spot on Lake Erie.
  22. He is referring to the Mojo Glass rod, not a ScII rod, I Have the MM Avid and believe it is the best crankbait rod in this power and the action I have used, providing a lighter weight with a better tuned action built with much better components than the Mojo glass rod, and although it has nothing to do with usability, it has the Lifetime warranty. The Legend Extreme MHM is my favorite Crankbait rod when a heavier power is needed for the bigger and deeper diving crankbaits, but if I didn't have it would be using the Avid in the MHM for those application's.
  23. No, the company G. Loomis is now owned and run by Shimano. Gary Loomis started G. Loomis and sold it to them several years ago. He has absolutely nothing to do with any current G. Loomis rods. Today Gary Loomis Currently owns and operates NFC (North Fork Composites). He developed and is making Edge Rods. He also is the designer of TFO rod's (Temple Fork Outfiters)
  24. Over the years I have had many favorite's of all time, but I am sure it will change, seems to always be the next one I build. Seems the more you own and try the more you find to fine tune to your likings, I am sure anymore my favorite rod will be the next one I build, it's been that way with the last 4 or 5 rods I had built. Once you have tried hundreds of different rods you start to realize little things about all that are good, and when you start having each little component color material and blank truly built exactly like you want it, this is when that old favorite get's transformed into the best rod ever for you,,,,,If your favorite rod has one thing you would change,,well,, by all means change it, one thing I am sure for me, it "WILL BE" a St. Croix!!
