How Do You Determine Leader Size For Braid?
Sounds simple enough. Thanks A-Jay. I was just wondering if there was some hard and fast rule.

Wild Orange Carrot Stix
The first generation rods were pretty notorious for breaking, but the second gen saw a huge improvement. I have one that I flip with and I am not gentle with it. My buddy has five and has never had any issues. Hopefully they have resolved all issues

How Do You Determine Leader Size For Braid?
I very rarely flip jigs over 1/2 oz. I have been known to do some light punching, but it is very rare that I do so. 1 oz max. I'll check the rod recommendations. Thanks. Tastu is on sale right now, ill check it out. I was just hoping to try the one I get a huge discount on first. The good thing is ill only be using it with leaders, so that Tatsu will last a while. I'm in the same boat, being a river fisherman. Sometimes, breaking off is the only choice. I fish from my kayak a bit as well, so the leverage to break off is even harder to gain.

How Do You Determine Leader Size For Braid?
I understand why you answer how you do Mr. Kent, but I'm looking for lb test recommendation, not brand. Thanks!

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
Great to see another south Louisiana guy here. I normally am C&R on bass, but I do keep some small ones for the occasional family fish fry if I go with family. My solo trips are release, just due to convenience. On a side note... Have you ever eaten crappie? Never met a man who preferred bass fillets to crappie

Bass Pro Classic
I did get to tank test them and while I am disappointed (though not surprised) that they didn't have the keitech wide tail kick at slow speed, they produced a lot of "thump." They will be used as swimjig trailers for me, probably. For what I paid for them, they aren't bad. Standard 7.29 price? Probably not.

Zeka...jika
Last season I employed the girlfriend's help (she is so much more patient with crafts than I) making about six of the jika rigs after watching Rick clunn use them on a bass pro shops show. I am primarily a river fisherman and these rigs worked extremely well. I threw them on a 6'10 St. Croix Legend Xtreme M/XF with a 50e Chronarch. I primarily used zoom UV speed craws, but I could see its effectiveness with small flukes, swimbaits, creatures, etc. very good action when used with a rod and reel combo that won't overpower it.

How Do You Determine Leader Size For Braid?
Just wanted to stop by and ask... Is there a general accepted rule as to what lb test fluorocarbon leader you use with your braid? As an example, I have braid on a few reels... 50lb, 40 lb, and 20 lb. I have never tried fluorocarbon as a straight line, but I am wanting to start using it as leaders in certain situations. Would something like a spool of 20lb and 12/14 lb get me by? The 20 lb test is typically for texas rigs and light inshore use, whereas the 40 lb is used for light pitching/heavy t-rigs, and the 50 lb is used for frogging. I will probably stay straight braid with frogs, but for other instances (flipping/pitching), I would like to start employing leaders on these setups. I will be using the XPS Fluoro, as I get a significant discount on it St. Croix Legend Xtreme 6'10 M/XF rod with 20lb Super Slick. (Baitcast) Used for flukes, Texas rigs, small swim jigs, and light inshore duty. Carrot Stik 7'0 MH/F with 40 lb Suffix 832. (Baitcast) Used for heavy t-rigs, flipping/pitching, larger swim jigs and big paddle tails. Powell Diesel 7'2 MH/XF with 50lb Super Slick. (baitcast) Used for frogs and heavy duty flipping/pitching. The only toothy critters I worry about encountering are bowfin and alligators. Thanks in advance everyone.

Accidental Catches
I was bank fishing one afternoon after college classes and while tossing a grass pig on a swimbait hook down the shorelines, the lure came to a screeching halt. I swung for the fences but my lure only barely moved. I was certain that something big (catfish, turtle) had clamped down on it, so I locked down my drag and started wrenching on it. It felt like something came "unstuck" and I drug a dead weight all the way back to shore. I had to use my pliers to get my hook back. Crazy thing is, it was a 4/0 Gammy keel weighted hook, very heavy gauge, and it was still ruined. Can you imagine the reflexes a mussel must have to clamp down on a bait like this?

Need Some Kayak Advice....again
I also have a Native Ultimate 14.5 and absolutely adore it. It is, in my opinion, an excellent flat water boat. I use mine is (slow flowing) river float trips, lakes, as well as inshore marsh. Excellent kayaks, especially with their weight ratings vs the overall weight of the kayak itself!

Looking For A Spinning Reel And Rod For $200
Good choice, but my preference would be a Shimano Sahara 2500/3000 FE on a 6'8 M/XF St. Croix Mojo bass Wacky Style spinning rod. I would use the extra money to spool it with 20 lb braid.

Curado I
I would personally never sell a firearm (I consider them an investment) but they are nice. I picked up a 7.2 yesterday and like it so far. I love my 50e's as well, though. Both are great choices

Bass Pro Xps Flourocarbon Signature
The line fishes really well. KVD came into my Bass Pro one day last year to buy a fishing license and stock up and he sat with me at the counter for a bit and talked fishing. He had boxes upon boxes of our fluoro and spoke very highly of it. (For whatever that is worth to you guys) He also signed a Cataouatche Special 1.5 for me (It's in Louisiana so that was a no brainer) and took pics with some of the employees. Very nice fellow. But for what it's worth, a ton of our employees fish it and love it. I spool it on reels almost daily and it is as smooth as anything else. Seaguar does make it, to my knowledge.

Braid For Medium Action Rod?
20lb Power Pro Super Slick, if it were me. You can always use a fluoro leader if visibility becomes an issue. Casts very well on my 50 size shimano. The PQ should throw it well. Was that the Christmas combo?
