  1. BPS trade in as well here. Also had a lot of gift cards to use.
  2. Just got my 7.2 in hand this morning. Will hopefully be able to field test it next week!
  3. I agree on the price point comparison. Comparing it to a CI4+ Chronarch would be a fair challenge. Regardless, I have handled them and am very impressed. Just wanted to get in before the thread was locked for someone saying they prefer a reel over a Shimano. Just kidding.
  4. Weedless swim jig style heads, or on the back of a full skirt swim jig for me. Good stuff! Try throwing them on a Rattlin Rockport jighead. Murders specks, reds, and bass in Louisiana.
  5. I have the 6'8 M/XF spinning rod (wacky style) and wouldn't trade it for anything. I just don't like the guides on the new Duckett, but it is a nice rod regardless.
  6. 2 things to add.1.) I gave you a like for the Dragon Ball Z reference. My buddy and I loved that show when we were younger. 2.) The Pro Qualifier will be 80.00 starting Feb 28th (tomorrow). 64.99? Or so with reel trade in. If you can afford it, it will be a big step up.
  7. They are great baits. They swim VERY well. I didn't mean anything by it, it was more aimed towards what the article said that "sparked a fire" in you. I just sold a gen 1 spartan bull shad, but it was a slow sink and if I throw any more, it'll be my floaters. You'll love em!
  8. Great baits but I'm just curious... What about that article suddenly wants to make you throw them now? They have always been great, now we will just have more folks throwing them. Sadly in Louisiana throwing anything but a floater is like throwing money in the trash, but they are extremely nice baits. Tie a good knot with heavy line and hold on!
  9. This would be my choice. While the Recon2 would also be an option, the Tatula rod will be balanced PERFECTLY with your Type R Tarula reel, making the reel feel like half it's weight. Very nice combo, especially from our sponsor selling them around 110.
  10. In southern La, my paddle tail fishing is usually around heavy timber and thick grass. Weedless is a must. I personally like the Owner keel weighted swimbait hook, 3/0, 1/16 oz weight for shallow applications. This applies to the 3.8 impact fat shad, as this is the only size I have tried. Don't tell anyone, but they are my go to baits for skipping under docks, tree limbs, and through cypress stump fields too thick to risk expensive cranks and spinnerbaits. Excellent in that application!
  11. Pretty much exactly what I would have said. I fish weedless wacky worms on a 6'8 M/XF Mojo wacky spinning rod with the exact same line setup. Actually, I have it rigged and al walking out the door to fish this morning in the yaks with the girlfriend. My hook of choice is the Owner weedless wacky in 2/0 for 5 inch worms, 1/0 for 4 inch. My PB in my avatar was caught on the 2/0.
  12. Split shot rig. Senko as a close second, usually wacky. Frogs being third.
  13. How would one acquire one of these pretty reels?
  14. If you cut off the little tab coming out of the paddle tail, they do end up with a little more side to side kick. Just something to try!
  15. Shooting you a PM bud.
  16. I use them vertical as well.
  17. Ok, I really hate to ask but... What effect would this have, exactly? I own many Shimano baitcasters but don't mess with them much beyond basic maintenance.
  18. I am going to take something bluebasser said and emphasize it. Try a split shot rig. Experiment on the shot size for current, but I would start with 4 inch worms. I start with a number 4 or 2. Elaztech strike king 4 inch finesse worms FLOAT behind the split shot rig, current moving the little worm would be crazy good, 4 inch curly tail robo worms, 4 inch zoom dead ringers, zoom super fluke Jr's.... All on a 1/0 wide gap. Heck, maybe a sluggo. 3 or 4 inch senko. Small 3 inch craws, sky is the limit. If there was EVER a creek rig worth mastering, the split shot rig is it. You can cast it upriver and it will fall very well In those shallow holes. The current will provide it plenty of movement. Some 8lb copolymer line and you will be in business! Give it a "shot."You'll be glad you did.
  19. Many of my close friends use the pro qualifiers inshore and have been doing so for many years. The reel is rated for saltwater and has the guts to handle it. Not sure on the Lew's, sorry.
  20. I have been really partial to the new Bass Pro Shops Elite Chunks that recently came out. They have some great colors and a Jr. size as well.
  21. I really like the Slop Hopper swimbaits. More so than other swimbaits? Not really. However, they have some good action. Again, nothing I would go out of my way to get, but they have some subtle colors that work well around here.
  22. I appreciate it. No need to go take a lot of pics on my account. It looks well put together! And for some reason, the bottom pic does show upside down. Very odd!
  23. I have a lot of luck on soft plastics in the winter time. If I only had to bring a handful of setups, they would include: Split shot rig (never leave home without it!) with small 4 inch plastics Shaky head Bulky beaver/creature style (I like the megastrike megabug in the winter) to drag bottom with Jig n' pig Flat sided crankbaits Suspending jerkbaits
  24. Mr. Darren, How do you get your saw horses and Ulti to hang upside down like that from the roof without falling? O.O I like the transducer arm. Any chance I could get a few more detailed pics or maybe some more info via a Pm or email? Lookin to add one to my Ulti 14.5 this year.
