  1. A beaver style bait in sprayed grass is also a great suggestion. Good luck man.
  2. http://ragetalk.com/index.php?topic=3755.0 Works well in south La. Good luck! Go stick a pig!
  3. I would use a Rage Tail Shellcracker or even a Big Bite Baits Warmouth. Rig them "rage rigged" on a lightly keel weighted swim bait hook sideways (flat) and go to work. Late summer through early winter will be a good time for this, as the bluegill spawn is in early summer and their fry will reach 2-3 inches by then. I flip and pitch them near grass beds or lay downs where they would likely hide. Only ones I can think of at the moment.
  4. My girlfriend calls them a cute fish!
  5. I'm not sure if this helps (probably doesn't) but don't look past combo setups as well. If you are ever in the market for reels as well, any bass pro can put together a Pro Qualifier on a Carbonlite rod for 159.98 with an in store warranty. That's 40 off retail for an excellent setup by anybody's taste. Just a thought. Good luck with the search! P.S. Tackle Warehouse has some nice Carrot Stix on clearance right now.
  6. Google "Rage Rig." This type of fishing with a horizontal fall is beginning to get pretty popular with some guys on these boards. Personally, if I'm in that type of vegetation, I turn to weightless presentations. However, I have that type of grass down here so maybe ill have to give it a shot.
  7. AO cooler bag. I generally only bring it if I am hunting redfish or speckled trout in the salt.
  8. Hey guys. I was given about 9 livingston electronic lure clear demo blanks to mess with and was hoping to get them airbrushed and into the water! If anyone is looking for some practice and spare cash, I would be interested in knowing what you would charge. Not looking for any real crazy or elaborate color schemes, just simple jobs that will get them fishable. I know there are some big name guys out there like BW out there, but I received these for free to I really didn't want to invest more than their cost in a paint job, if possible. All hardware is removed and ready to ship. Couple cranks and spook type topwaters. Shoot me a PM if anyone is interested. Maybe you can make a little side cash while you paint your next run of cranks? Joshua
  9. I like the Offshore Angler Wake Baits from Bass Pro Shops (their saltwater house brand.) Bigger than the egg and run a bit better, all for under 5 bucks.
  10. 2/0 owner weedless wacky in green has been my best producer. It caught the bass in my avatar pic. I wouldn't mind trying the weedless Trokar, but nobody around here seems to carry them.
  11. x2. Rage tail grubs work well also.
  12. x2It's been over 90 for a solid month in south Louisiana. Lol.
  13. 42 Tackle Company - 42 Toad. By far my favorite frog. Stanley Ribbit is second.
  14. You can walk it with the rod tip upwards if its really far out or just walk it to the side. Here is a quick vid of me using a Pro Sizzle Jr. by Livingston Lures last month for my first topwater redfish. Maybe it will give you a better idea. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YGLYcJYwyFw
  15. Acquired a GoPro Hero 2 in a trade a while back and finally got to take it on a couple trips. I really wanted to test out my new Curado I HG, so I put it on a carrot stik and brought the bad boy to the marsh. It did a great job tossing local built redfish spinnerbaits. Managed to get 4 on video, but did manage to bring home my limit of 5 to a friend that can't get out on the water much any more due to extenuating circumstances. He was thrilled to have some nice half shells for the grill. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=27LxJ14Bza8 Went the next week and caught my first topwater redfish, measuring in at 26 inches. He slammed my livingston lures pro sizzle jr and put up quite a fight! Also caught a few more on the spinnerbait, the Curado never missed a beat. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YGLYcJYwyFw I am going to start recording on 1080p and work on editing more as I get more footage. Hope you guys enjoy the vids as much as I enjoyed catching em.
  16. I have hung some pretty nice bass on the owner 1/0 weedless wacky hook, my PB (6.5 lbs) came from one of those hooks. I would give them a look. If I were fishing in 10-20 feet of water, I would consider a very light buckeye flick it jighead wacky hook.
  17. My girlfriend started in an Ascend D10T and it did just fine for rivers, lakes, as well as marsh. She did, however, have trouble keeping up with myself and the guys due to it being a bit slower. However, it is super stable. Her little brother can even stand up in it. To fix the seat, I put 4 long strips of industrial grade Velcro down to keep the seat from sliding forward. It also helps to keep the back supportive. I would personally not even consider the second for two reasons... 1.) The foot area 2.) No real back support. The D10T is a good yak. If it were me, I would save 100 dollars more and buy a Perception Sport Pescador 12 for 499. She has graduated to that and loves it. It even floats my big butt. You really can't go wrong with either. Hope you enjoy it!
  18. I recently watched my buddy catch a 26 inch bowfin on a 1/4 oz humdinger on 12lb test with a 6'6 M/F rod. We had already hooked onto multiple 3 and 4 lb bass that day and for a minute he thought he had a big ole momma. Fun to catch, disappointing to land! Haha.
  19. I am a big fan of the 6'8 M/XF Carbonlite spinning rod. You can pair it with a Shimano Sahara for 149.99. Not a bad rig!
  20. A 27 inch redfish on ML tackle will make you think hard about why you don't fish for them more often. They even hit topwater. It's not remotely fair. Luckily, in south La, we have brackish areas that hold both species. All that is usually needed is a topwater, weedless plastic/spoon, and a spinnerbait!
  21. Congrats on the great smallie. I sure wish we had them around here. Instead, we get to chase spotted bass in our local flows. One day ill take the yak up north and slam some. #jealous
  22. Ummmm... What?
  23. I pretty much use the Stik-O exclusively now. Yeah, that's a great deal. Some of the colors may be a bit wonky, though.
