getting skunked didn't bother me but NOW in the August FL heat it does lol

it looks like atleast 100" is going to be the winner. That's how it was the past 3 months that we did it in FL, and it was only a few of us contributing now I think there are more but they are waiting to unleash their monster fish at the end of the month

It makes it a little better when I am not catching any, I caught all my top 5 in the first 2 days or so and it seems like nothing big since then.

I think I am going to join your group rather than my FL group, lol. YOu guys are active over here everytime I look people are posting nice fish. I'm currently leading the FL group with 17, 19, 19, 19, 20 but that thread is dead so I'm sure some people have fish to post but just haven't. Good job guys at keeping this thread alive gives me something to look at. And nice job catching these fish in August, its hell to get the big ones down here in FL in August.

seems like I have went away from using spinner baits, one of my biggest fish came from a spinner. The past few months I have been on a frog and top water binge even if its working or not I still throw em. When the weather cools down a bit here in FL I will throw my spinner, I love spinner baits in and around the spawn.

I use Rage Craws, Zoom swim craws, Strike King KVD rodents and some other not well known brands that resemble those type of baits.

I throw frogs a lot at night and it always seems like the bigger ones like the white but for whatever reason they only hit it on the pause. The black catch a lot of fish as well though more consistently, I use black a lot during the day too

People think that bass can hear you if you are talking this is false! Noise doesn't make a difference when bank fishing, a boat motor obviously does. I fish a lot at night and night is when you need to be extra stealthy. We use head lamps and the minute the fish see the white or blue light they scatter, so we always keep the red light on, I call it the fish and reptile light. Another thing to be mindful of is the splash that your lure makes you want to try to minimize that. During the morning and especially at night I notice that they like to stick to the shore line so that's when I stay back, splash light, and if night keep the red light on

I fish in the evening/ night a lot and the general rule is to fish what you would fish with during te day. I fish from te bank as well. I usually throw top water lures during this time, mine is always a hollow body frog buzz baits work well too. I generally look for structure and when it gets dark I focus on the shore line, that's where the big ones are eating up bait fish. The key to night fishing, really wit all fishing, is find out where they are and what kind of activity they are showing. Your environment and the creatures around it can tell you a lot about the fish activity.

That's weird I've had lures come off on the cast but it was my fault faulty knot. I never had a weak point in my line and that happen

I have one storage box in my tackle back pack with a variety of things and then a few bags of soft plastics... I'm a bank fishermen so I like to travel light. I have enough tackle to fill a nice ranger or tracker boat that day will hopefully come down the road if the wife lets me
