  1. Make the move grimlin! I promise you one thing, you won't regret it. If you have any questions about the many brands on the market, J Francho is quite the expert on kayaks and I trust his opinion and reviews.
  2. You never get skunked when you fish from a kayak...
  3. The Jelly Worm is my goto worm. I use a 5/0 EWG on the 9" and 6/0 EWG on the 12". SCOGGINS OUTDOORS
  4. I watched a video about the mighty mount at our local kayak dealer, made my mouth water! Man, the things you can mount on a Ride 135 using that trax system and the might mounts. I wanted to upgrade to the OK Trident 15 for the speed...what would Francho do??
  5. Go with the Wilderness Systems if you can afford it, I think you'll be glad you did. Hey Francho, I mentioned earlier that I was thinking about getting that Ride 135. I finally got a chance to try it out from the dealer and man I love that thing. Before seeing it I was going to get another OK Trident, but I really like this Ride 135. That track system is really neat and other companies offer so many different mounts for it. However, I think the Trident is faster and I like how fast I can get across the lake. If only OK would put that track system on their Tridents. Trident 15 or Ride 135??? I wish the wife would let me buy both!
  6. Hey Spiky, do you have your own boat?
  7. I was on Wes Watkins five years ago and we fished the points around a rather large feeder creek on the west end of the lake. Of course it was late March so I don't know how it would be this time of the year, but we landed some nice LM in the 3-4 lb range on t-rigged worms and jigs.
  8. Now this is an angler on the hunt...there's hawgs in that jungle! Never tried a buzz frog, but I know a hoo daddy works.
  9. Using the seat that came with my OK was becoming a major pain and I would usually be forced to beach to get out and stretch because of developing lower back pain. After about an hour this pain would move down into my legs and it was becoming a concern as I had been planning a couple of longer trips on larger lakes. I just purchased an after market seat, the Gone Fishin Seat, from Austin Canoe & Kayak and tried it out this weekend. I highly recommend this seat to anyone looking for better back support in a kayak seat. It has adjustable lumbar support and I was able to paddle for a half day without any pain. If you're getting in your years like I am, you might want to consider this seat.
  10. Hey J Francho, have you seen these Ride Kayaks in person? I drove up to the city today to check them out and I was very impressed. I'll probably miss my rod pod on the OK, but the trade off might be worth it. The 135 has a capacity of 550 lbs, that is awesome! I'm a big man and the salesman told me that I could stand up in this kayak without turning it over, something I've never tried in a kayak, but I might be tempted in this thing. It looks more solid than my OK. I had planned to get another OK, but I'm considering getting this one instead. A lot of folks will probably consider the Ride a littly expensive, but from what I saw it's worth every dollar. I like this craft.
  11. Have you tried messaging JFrancho directly? Wish I could help. but my only experience is with the Ocean Kayak. SCOGGINS OUTDOORS
  12. Now that's a HAWG, a wall hanger for sure! Where there's one, there's more, keep it up!
  13. I use the size 9 and 11. I wish they'd bring back the clown color, I've caught more fish off that color than any other.
  14. ICU, if I see one of those, I'll be paddling so fast you'll swear I had a 250 hp Etec on the back of my kayak.
  15. I've seen elk on the refuge many times, but this was the first time I was ever able to get this close. Check out this video on how to make a camera mount for a kayak. I used the same materials, but took a mount from a camera tripod and attatched it to the the screw-on pvc cap. VIDEO
  16. I had an early morning encounter with one of the refuge's majestic residents while bass fishing; it was an experience I'll never forget. Oh yeah, landed a decent bass too. VIDEO
  17. A cheaper one can save you just as well, but that $100 vest sure is a lot more comfortable.
  18. Thanks to Capt Ken Daubert I parked my bass boat and have been fishing from a kayak ever since. If I know him, he's paddling around Florida right now hauling in some hawgs with that frog of his. SCOGGINS OUTDOORS
  19. Hmmm, Milk Crate Liberation Front....sounds like a paramilitary organization. SCOGGINS OUTDOORS

  21. Yes, those are deer. They've become use to seeing me and I've been able to get to closer to them. There are also some elk coming down to the shore in search of water but I have yet to close enough to get them on video.
  22. Got on the water at sunrise and it was a comfortable 78 deg. I was able to bring a couple to the yak before the mercury started going up and I also had time to take in some wildlife. The second bass in the video really put up a fight and bent the rod over like a 10 lber, (watch the video) but its size will fool you. VIDEO
  23. I've been off my game this year and it seemed like it would be a year of dinks until this past weekend. Finally landed a respectable bass that measured 22". Day temps have been 103-104 so I'm doing a lot of fishing in the dark.
  24. I've fished out of both and I prefer kayaks. I'm able to sit off the side of my kayak and fish, I could never have done that on a canoe.
  25. Black buzz bait, jitterbug, and frogs.
