Finally Got A Tug Boat!
Beer holder was standing next to the camera holder. ;-) Yes it has mowing deck. My little Murray bit the dust about on mowing short of the season. Figured since I needed something to move the boat with (up and down a13% grade) I would get something that I could mow with too. Stumbled onto this one and the poor guy was in a bind and. Sold it to me cheap. Did have to run up to Nebraska to pick up the mower deck that I found on Craigslist though.......the deck that came with it was in rough shape......see it here:

Which To Get?
I agree with tomustang. It depends on what your 'needs' are. Last year I bought a Lowrance HDS 7 Gen2Touch and a HDS 10 Gen1. But I needed electronics. A power pole or talon would be nice but for my style/location of fishing a shallow anchor is only applicable to maybe 5% of my time on the water. But I am sure you will make the right decision for you. Good luck and have fun with whatever new toys you get.

Give Up On Bass During Colder Months?
I would love to fish in the cold. But my joints and back do not play well with cold. Really kind of painful. I do fish in the cold on occasion....but not much at all. I *** those with good joint and back health.......at least I still have my looks! ;-)

Finally Got A Tug Boat!
Oops.....I meant boat tug! This lets me move the boat between the houses front yard to back yard and back again with ease! No more scratching my truck or creating ruts in the yard that require 2-3 loads of dirt to fix. It's great!

You're Invited To The 2014 Roadtrip!
Made our reservation this morning. We are planning on getting there on Monday April 28th and doing a whole 7 days.........all the way to the end of the roadtrip. Then head home on Monday May 5th. That'll give me an extra two days to find some other kind of fish in Wilson. I believe that at least one other member has reserved a cabin for 7 days too. This is gonna be a blast! WOO HOO!

I say pull your boat down if you are comfortable with it and have dependable tow vehicle and Trailer. I drove last year and will again this year.....about 550 miles for me. checked and repacked wheel bearings on trailer check lights ect.......like you should always do anyway. I just like having my boat/stuff with me. there were several folks that came down last year without a boat............as far as I know everyone that wanted to got to fish and nobody was left standing on the banks that wanted to go. Last year was my first year and I am told that it is always like that. I think the more boats the better.................but either way it will work out. There was some crazy cajun guy (Alpster) that rode his motorcycle all the way down from up north that way last year...........he's crazy! but he cooks up a mean dish of cajun grub. But that is how much fun it is. So.....bring your boat if you can.....if not.......don't worry about...just c'mon down.

You're Invited To The 2014 Roadtrip!
It's true. I must admit that I was skeptical..........but he is right. He is likable in person. I can't speak for everyone else......but I did not meet anyone there that I did not find friendly and enjoyable to be around. And I fit his description in I don't know much.........hope everyone makes it back this year and a bunch more show up too. A great time.

You're Invited To The 2014 Roadtrip!
My wife is in school too, but I know I won't be able to go if she doesn't get to go too. I hope to make it again this year......last year was great! But got some job security issues going on after having the bank purchased/merger/acquisition. No idea after 11 weeks if they will be extending offers of employment to us or not. Actually they have not told us anything at all, really , except that the merger will be finalized and conversion completed around Aprilish........just have to see. If you get the chance to go......you should...it is a great time!

Catastrophic Lower Unit Collision
Dawg Gone! Sorry to hear about your bad encounter. That is one of worst worries........the lake I fish has a lot of underwater stumps and rocks (boulders). Glad you were not injured.........and you're a better man than me. While I was in the Air Force........I would have cussed like a sailor!

Cranking With Braid
I switched from braid to Tuf Line Supercast and love it. Have it on all of baitcasters............don't get that braid 'sound' when casting and is very tough.

Tachometer All Over The Place
Changed the tach wire from the current coil/resistor to the other coil/resister.....no change. connections are not hot, brownish or burned looking. So i tried a tip I read somewhere........there is a dial on the back where you can select the number of cylinders you have. I turned this all the way to the right and then all the way to the left......then back to the original place. Seems to have resolved the issue.......taking it out tomorrow......we will see I guess.
-
Tachometer All Over The Place
The tach sits around 2k with ignition off......then drops to 0 when ignition is turned on.......then after starting it is high and fluctuates.
-
Tachometer All Over The Place
Yesterday out on the lake when I left the ramp I noticed the tach indicated 6k...........the motor was NOT revving that high. I backed off to idle and still was high......4500k.........tapped the tach and it dropped down to normal and all was fine. Kept doing the same thing but not not everytime I fired it up to run to the next spot. I was thinking loose connection......but I do not know much about this stuff. Any ideas? Thanks

Funny Thing My Wife Just Said...
A word of warning........if she starts wearing your shirts..........they will end up in her closet. She will decide they are her shirts now by defacto. So after a short period of time, it will be you, that is wearing her fishing shirts.

Auto-Inflatable Life Vests
Very good idea. I bought one last fall. Wear it all the time now. I went with the basspro/mustang unit because I know some guys with them and they work well. The replacement cartridge is higher than the others. But like they said above.......read up and decide for yourself. It's your life. Again, you made a good decision to buy and wear inflatable all the time.
