Boat Recarpet Project
I have carpeted a small piece with spread on and one locker lid with spray. I was thinking I would use the spread on for the replacement. A lot of my carpet is coming loose on its own........I will keep the acetone idea in mind for the parts that do not want to pull off easy. Might call the local carpet shop where I bought the little piece.......not sure of quality.....how to evaluate it.....we'll see. Thanks all. Chris

Boat Recarpet Project
Leaning pretty hard towards recarpeting my boat. Best place to buy carpet? Best adhesive to use......spray or spreadable? Anyone heard of or used bassboatseats.com or boatcarpetbuys.com to buy carpet?

Which Camera For My Boat
Does the gopro3 series have the feature of the drift ghost........the continuous recording loop that records for 5 minutes that starts to record over itself unless you press a button that causes the camera to store the last 5 minutes and then starts a new 5 minute loop? I could not find it on the go pro website. That feature is what will win me over to the ghost. Thanks for all the input everyone......I appreciate it..

Trash Everywhere! What Tha Heck Is Wrong With People?
Not just the trash. It seems to me that society in general are carrying us down in a spiral towards doom. Hearing about some getting murdered used to be a shocking bit of news. But nowadays it is on every newscast everyday. And what people do to kids.......my gosh. It literally brings tears to my eyes when I watch the news. Or I look around and see how people live in squalor or trash places up. The penalties for littering or allowing trash to blow off your property need to be increased to a staggering amount. $50k or something ridiculous like that. As long as penalties are not stiff enough then the guilty will continue as they are. Ok.....sorry. I will dismount my soapbox now. I just get so dang mad!

Trailer Tires Vs Light Truck Tires For Your Trailer
I read that article. As soon as I was finished, I hopped up and ran outside in my house shoes and gym shorts to look at my trailer tires. Now I know that 28!defrees is not cold for a lot of folks and it does get a good bit colder here at times.......my neighbors are probably wondering what the heck the crazy neighbor is up to now? Running around out the pretty cold night in house shoes and gym shorts. I was concerned since I bought my boat and trailer used. Had not given that issue a great deal of thought. But to my delight they are ST tires. Even says for trailer service only....although hard to read because the crazy neighbor takes pic in the dark :-) Ahhhhh...........I feel better now. Thanks for the information........probably saved me from myself and that bargain hunting crazy neighbor.

Which Camera For My Boat
I am thinking about getting a go pro style camera to mount on my boat for video/pics. I just don't take enough pics while fishing and was thinking about getting one of the go pro cameras. I am reading about them but have a few questions for first hand users. I would like to record continuous or close to it for 6-8 hrs. Is that asking too much? Basically I just want it filming all the time and then just review and cut pics of fish out of it. Any other ideas or input?

Siebert Outdoors Baits Rock!!!
I bought a few of Siebert Outdoors (SO) jigs last year. They are very high quality products. I have placed 3 or 4 orders over the last year and getting ready to order some more. I decided earlier this year that I would only use SIebert Outdoors (SO) jigs, shakeyheads and weighted hooks. Exclusively. I love those things. We made it out fishing several times this fall......my wife, almost 11 yr old son and me. I always keep SO jig and a SO shakeyhead tied on two of my rods. On one trip in particular things had slowed......so I picked up my rod with the jig. In what seemed like only a couple of minutes 'FISH ON'......then within just a few casts another one. As I'm releasing the fish I hear this thunderous commotion from the back of the boat. It's my son on the way to the tackle storage locker. He knows it's a jig that he now must have. Naturally I start yelling like most dads I know, " what in the heck are you doing?" Now that boy didn't miss a lick......he just says, "what color is it?" He didn't even look at me........he never talks to me without looking at me. Until now I thought it was genetically impossible for him to talk without looking at who he was talking to. While I am trying figure out what is going on, my wife chimes in with, "get me one too!" We did very well the rest of the day using jigs. My wife took pics of my SO jigs for a school project she did on tackle. I was looking at the pics and noticed everything is either dark pumpkin green or watermelon....now I just need to place an order for some other colors.

Winter Fishing, And Boat Winterization.
I found some more tips about wintertime bass boating. Some have already been covered here. Take a look guys and chime in........I am now contemplating taking my boat out of winter storage status and enduring the chill. Immediately after pulling your boat out of the water, lower your motor all the way down. Then, either pull your starter rope or turn the motor over with the ignition. (If motor starts, that’s ok. Just hit the kill switch) Doing this will spin the impeller and force all of the water out of your water pump and lower unit. Let it sit for a few more minutes till you are certain all the water has drained from the lower unit. Next, if you have used your electric t-motor, give the prop a few spins to make sure there is no water holding in the plastic prop. If there is concern of bilge or livewell pumps being damaged by freezing weather pour a little RV antifreeze in the live well and run the live well pump for a bit. I would just not use them in the winter. Or Shop Vac to suck water out of live well. A 2" hose stuck right in the livewell drains and sucks the water out. You can feel the water as it comes up the hose. When you get home take a wet rag and wipe off any road salt that has sprayed on the trailer or hull. Helps in keeping the trailer from rusting. Look out for floating chunks of ice! Hitting one can put a pretty good chunk out of the hull. As a courtesy to the next guy who shows up at the ramp, let the water drain from your boat trailer before pulling up the ramp. That is both launching and loading! Keep a 5 gallon bucket of Salt/Sand mix in the truck just in case the ramp has turned to an ice rink. For 2wd trucks a set of tire chains. Also bring a tow strap. Bring a shovel and an ice chisel in case there is snow or ice to be removed. Especially a “Lip” of ice at the water's edge. Spray silicone is useful for keeping the t-motor shaft from freezing in up or down position. W-d 40 works well too. If you have console steering, it’s a good idea to spray w-d 40 on the linkages directly in front of the motor. This will help keep the steering from freezing. Let your motor warm up fully. If you don’t see a stream of water from the “pee hole” right away don’t panic. The water pump is probably working OK, it probably just the frozen line from your motor to the exit hole. Once the motor gets warmed up, the line will thaw out and you should have a water stream from the pee hole. The motor will cool off very quickly when you stop to fish and can make restarting the motor difficult when you are ready to run to the next spot or back to the ramp. Cold is also hard on batteries. Run Fuel treatment in the gas all winter. Treats the fuel in case we have one of those month long cold snaps where the river pretty much freezes over. Two more things, one...to grease the linkage on the motor to force out water and refills the cavity with grease, and two, maybe only on Yamaha 4 strokers, the flush tube MUST BE removed, and allowed to drain (usually about 1/2 cup of water in it) or the hose will freeze/crack under the cowling. Anything else you all can think of?

Roaches In Boat
I would say remove the gear.......but I pamper my stuff a little maybe......always bring the gear inside the house....I have one of the bedrooms set up with rod holders and a cabinet for tackle boxes. Don't leave anything on the boat between trips.

Winter Fishing, And Boat Winterization.
These guys are right on.......water in the boat/motor is what to be worried about. I think bumping the starter is a good idea to keep the motor from holding any water in the cooling passages. I use startron .......Long Mike got me to using that stuff.....it's great. I just finished winterizing my boat.....I hope this is that last year I have to winterize it. Hope to have a nice warm place for it to sleep next year......that way I can get out during the winter a little.
