On The Bass Hunt
I got invited by my good friend that also a bass angler to go a quarry pond that connects to the Cedar River. Anyway, We got there about 5 p.m. Got out of his truck and walked to the water to see the color and such. It was about 70 to 75 degrees. Air temp was about 85 with no humidity which I love. It looked calm and saw patches of grass under the water. Water was a bit stained. I picked up my Denali Shakey Head rod that's paired up with Sunline Sniper 7 lb with Gary Yamamoto Senko Watermelon with Black flecks. Skippin the senko over grass. Got fish but they shook off. That time, I know that theres bass. It was a dinkers at the time. Kept using the senko, no luck. I proceed to get my Denali Worm and Jig rod with Berkley Ribbon Tail in Tequila Sunrise color with 3/8 bullet weight with VMC worm shank with 12 lb. Cast it over the grass. I let it free fall for couple seconds. I started reeling and twitching at the same time. Got fish and hearing the reel scream. Boat flipped the fish, line snapped right on the bank, fish got away. Was disappointed. But used the same stuff. Hooked other bass with in ten minutes. Line snapped. I was cursing at my line. I never had a problem til I retied just to a hook. Line snapping about 4 times. I was very upset. Never had this problem. I had it with the line. Put my Rod Glove by G-Man back on and let it alone. Picked up my 7 ft 6 in Denali Flipping Stick. My work horse. I put my Pearl City Jig in Potomac color with NetBait Paca Craw in Sun Perch color. Has 50 lb Sunline FX2 Frog and Flipping braid on Abu Garcia Revo S. I walked around the corner and saw a laydown. I pitched the jig and fall down. Slowly roll and twitched moderately light. No bite, my mind is going nuts since my line is crappy for some reason. Pitched again to the timber and twitched twice and fall. Twitched once, then I see my line going left, I give one step back and hook set the jig so hard. Think about braid has no abrasion resistance. Tip of the rod was bent like crazy. I felt it was a huge keeper. I started to run towards on the bank to give some slack. The bass fought for life. Boat flipped it, got the line so the bass doesn't loose the slime. I respect the fishes life. The jig got choked but freely got it out. I weighed the fish. Comes out to 4.1 pounder. My friend says its the record at the quarry. After that, the fish bite died. I told my friend that I want to come back tomorrow if hes free. He said, We can with his biggest grin ever seen. We had things to do during the day. He picked me up again at 6 pm and fished til dark.. I used my trust worthy jig Potomac color with Paca Craw with Sun Perch. and I pitched the same spot I was at. No bites for 15 minutes. I pitched to the left side of the laydown. All the sudden, I see my braid line going down to the right. Step back once, hooked hard. Fish jumped in the air and I crouched down and say no no no. Looked like a bass but it wasn't. It was a 6 pound female dogfish had the same exact same color of bass scheme. Unhooked it and let it go. She ate my craw, so I put the same craw on the jig, hustled to the laydown. Pitched and took it slowly for good 10 minutes cause the big orange ball was going down. I pitched again to the right side of the laydown. Felt some twitches on the tip of my rod. Step back one time, and hook set hard. Boat flipped bass. Weighed it. 3.5 pounder. Let the fish go, happily. Overall, It was great to experience the quarry. Going back soon!

Aba (American Bass Anglers) Co-Anglers
I started out in a club and pay fees for club tournaments and pay fees for Bassmasters Nation for State if the club is affiliated with Bassmasters. Talking about Co-Angler or Non Boater, Its great to be both. Its great to learn and learn tips. It depends on the boater. I had a boater was a total dick about everything. I only had one terrible boater. Rest were so mellow, nice, talkative. Its like if hes using trolling motor, use fast action baits. Not using the trolling, slow baits. Your constantly moving.

Ever Lost A Rod?
Its happened to me to catfishing with a pal. I was on the jonboat with 90 hp on it. Didn't loose it but heck close call. I was looking other direction seeing this beautiful speedboat flying by us as that time, I was packing my can of chew tobacco and I put it in my lip. All the sudden, I see my rod hopping towards the current. I was like oh snap, chased after it. Smacked my knee on the edge of jon boat seats which are metal. I managed catching the 8 pound flathead.

Do You Remember The First Bass You Caught?
I've fished for other species for blue gills, crappie and cats when I was youngin. While I was at Lake of the Ozarks on vacation, I was introduced to bass fishing while watching Bassmasters on tv when I was 10 years old seeing Rick Clunn, Kevin Van Dam, Michael Iaconelli and all them guys. Don't remember who was using a spinnerbait. My grandpa was watching it with me also. On the same day, I told my grandpa, I want that spinnerbait! So couple days later, I got surprised with a spinnerbait from my Grandpa. I don't even remember the spinnerbait brand or anything of it. My grandpa tied the spinner on my spinning outfit. I was fishing out on the private dock at my grandpas beautiful house was worth a lot of money that time. Its worth more nowadays. Anyways, my grandpa told me throw the spinnerbait to the water where the log is laying down. Grandpa said count to 5 seconds to sink down and start reeling. I started counting to 5 with my fingers. The number 5 was up. Started reeling. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. On the fourth or fifth cast, caught 4 lb some ounces. I was so excited and everything a little kid can be. After that bass was caught, I released it to give respect. Caught couple 1's and 2's pounders. Ive been hooked to bass fishing ever since.

Drinking/littering On The Water...is It Ever Acceptable?
On practice days for tournament, I will not drink at all. I need to focus on the pattern. After tournament is over, I usually pack 4 beers in the cooler in the truck, Ill grab one and wait til I leave the ramp or marina. My partner can drink 2. Ill drink 2. Its okay for me but if being obnoxious, not going to allow it. on the littering part, I WILL never litter. God gave me the body of water. I gotta respect that body.

Bass Master Or Local Flw Club
I fish Bassmasters Nation for my 1st year of tournament angling. I had hardheaded dick boater didn't care ABOUT NO ONE or myself. ( Non-Boater ) on Day 1. Day 2, I had the most friendliest boater that I ever had so far. I would try Bassmasters first and see how you feel the society or atmosphere. If you dont like it. Join FLW.

Why Do Many People Despise Slow Texas Rig Fishing?
I personally love Texas Rigging. Its one of my confidence. I like to fish it slow if nothing then move up to moderate then hopping it. Most of fish I caught are usually on Texas Rig.

How Do You Feel?

Snapping Turtles
I have caught snappers before. Its cool to hear them hissing like cats. but I usually try to pick them up by the shell and remove the hook and bait. Let it go. I usually get them in 20 pounders and sometimes 30s. They can get big here. I've noticed they like pork scented lures like Net Bait.
