Looking For A New Jig/pitching Rod
Even though it's pushing your budget I would agree with the DX 744 or 745. Personally I think the the 4 power feels a little taxed with a 1/2oz. and a trailer. the Dx 745 is just a great stick, super sensitive , great power and still has enough tip to throw a 3/8 oz jig and a small trailer like a speed craw. Might want to give the folks at American Legacy a call and see what they can do for you.

Favorite Line?
never use braid mono sunline super natural fluoro Toray superhard upgrade or tatsu co poly either mccoys or gamma

Flukes And Line Twist
I've gone to throwing them on a casting rod but with a spinning rod I used to put a swivel a foot or 18 inches from the fluke . That will really help with the twist.

Tatsu
Tatsu is expensive but it really lasts well. I've got some thats been on the reel for 4 months and hasn't gotten any memory. if it starts to get nicked up over time i just turn it around and use the back end first.

Storm Wiggle Wart Question On The Originals
Storm is labeled under the bill of the Rapala baits.. Rapala puts them in a Storm package. The Original , more desireable ones have wiggle wart under the bill instead of Storm.

Dobyns Rod For Crank Baits
I agree, I think the 704 graphite would be the perfect stick for what your looking to do. I fish vision 110's, mostly on mine. also makes a great wiggle wart rod and smaller squarebills like 1.5's ect.

Shimano Core Or Revo Mgx For Light Weight Finesse Pros Cons
I have a core 50 on a bcr 803 . I seldom throw anything lighter than 5/16 but it's a super smooth ,great casting reel.

Luck-E-Strike Stx Jerkbait
I got a 110 last year without a split ring, called megabass and was told that the 110's intended for the Japanese market don't get a ring on the front. How some end up here I don't know. They were nice enough to send me some of the rings at no charge.

Luck E Strike Wart Hog
Being a Table Rock guy I fish the wart a lot. The warthog is actually pretty good, I have heard of some issues with the early ones but I haven't had any. The paint is ok ,I like the moss green and brown craw. Of course some seem to run better than others, but I have a dozen or so pre-rapala warts that run different from bait to bait also.

What Is Your Fav. Squarebill Crank?
I like balsa the best. The old balsa b's, wec's , and TC cranks. There is a newer bait made around here called Basscraft that has been really good for me. They run perfect out of the package , have good hooks and Dwain Batey at the bait werks does some of the paint work . A really high quality square bill.

Need A New Crankbait/spinnerbait/topwater Line
My favorite copoly's have always been Izorline and Yo zuri until I tried the Gamma poly flex. Really good , handles great and super tough.

If You Had To Pick One???
I've tried the saavy.. Denali

Best Jig Rod
I'd also recomend looking at the Denali.I fish the 843 model in both the rosewood and noirwood and have been very pleased. I own (or have owned) imx ,glx, nrx and legend elite. In my hands the Denali is as good or better ,great quality and value.
-
Weightless Senko Rod
I throw them on my jerk bait rod which is a Denali Michael Murphy signature w/ a Zillon and 10lb flouro. The falcon cara weightless worm is another good one , but I like the Denali a bit more..
-
Square Bill Rod
Personally I don't like to use a crankbait rod for squarebills, It's all about deflection off wood , rocks, docks ect. When a fish jumps it in cover I want to be able to move him fast. I use a Denali 843 jig rod . MH fast.

Revo S
I used a gen 2 SX for a pitching reel for a while and liked it fairly well, It is a mag only reel and some seem to struggle with setting it. if your concerened about backlashes it wouldn't be my first choice.
-
Revo S
I would also recomend looking at The lexa. I've spent 2 weeks with mine swapping it between a Denali wj843 and a j955fx Throwing jigs , spinnerbaits ,buzzbaits , The repo man, even some A-rig for good measure . I think it's the smoothest under 150 reel I've ever tried. Worth a look...

Thumper/paddle Tail Worms For Shakey Head
I throw the GO2 paddle tail a bunch on Table rock with either a 1/2 shakey head or the chompers wobble head, A great hand pour .

Revo Sx: What's The Deal With The Spool Tension?
Are you seting the spool tension with the mag breaks at zero ?.. I use a sx for a pitchin reel . I always have set the spool tension first then add the mag break as I need it.

Fluke Rod
I just throw them on my stick bait rod. The Denali murphy signature, but thats over your budget.. You could look at the Jadewood 783, would make a good fluke rod and work for other applications as well.. I always thought the mojo and premier used the same blank (scii).. If I recall correctly the mojo is assembled in Mexico.

Moving To Fluro
For crankbaits I've had great luck with 10lb Trilene 100 % , Dont know why but it seems to handle better than the heavier weights. I use it for anything from dd22's to wiggle warts. If your going to use flouro for moving baits I dont think you have to spend a lot of money for the best For spinnner baits I either use 15lb big game or if I'm using flouro I like vicious.

Cranking Setup Dilemma
I have a bunch of crankbait rods, most of them have ended up in the rafters of my basement. The one that never leaves the boat is the Denali jw843cb .It has enough tip to cast 1.5's and wiggle warts but strong enough for DD22's and 6xd's. Just a great all around crankbait rod. As to reels , I'm a shimano guy but the new Daiwa lexa looks interesting and I believe it will be available in a 4.9:1.
