  1. Red Eye Shad in mostly sexy shad. I'll throw others but I have a RES tied on over 90% of the time I'm throwing a lipless crank
  2. I trending towards one company now. It's just kind of my nature though... When I find a menu item I like at a restaurant, that's probably what I'm getting every time. I guess it carries over to rods and reels as well.
  3. You may want to check out the phenix and Powell line of rods as well. The max and endurance would fit well within your budget and are fantastic rods. I had a phenix m1 as well that I really liked. As I said on the other thread though, I am partial to the Dobyns line so my recommendation, for whatever it's worth, is to go there. However, I wouldn't think twice about telling you to get one of the other rods I just mentioned.
  4. Well, since you already made your choice, I won't try and convince you to buy a DX. The Carbonlites are certainly a nice rod. Personally, I always get the best I can afford because I wind up wondering 'what if?' if I choose the good deal over what I actually want. Enjoy your new rods!
  5. Not positive how this combo would handle all 3, but you can get a bps pq/carbon lite combo for right around 150 160. Maybe a 6'6 m/f? Again, I'm not sure how it would handle all of those techniques together, but it would at least be a solid combo for your budget
  6. Personally, for 10 bucks I'd go with TW. I just know they, a. are a real company (not that there aren't reliable places on ebay) and b. have solid cs. I think the next sale is memorial day though.
  7. Technique specific rods! Just kidding...
  8. I used to have the same rod great all around treble hook rod if you ask me
  9. 3/8 is usually where I start
  10. I could like your new rod for you
  11. From my experience Drop shot - many fish Tubes - 0 I just don't have confidence in tubes, but this is one of the techniques I plan on getting better at this year.
  12. X2. I also threw them on my Powell 695cb before I got the 705cb champion
  13. You can do that????? I heard that your lure would literally not cast if you put it on the wrong rod! No matter how how hard you swing.
  14. sounds like you got a good grasp on what you want
  15. A couple turtles. A bullfrog attacked my buzz bait once. He didn't get hooked but didn't want to let go of the lure either. Also a catfish on a little home made jig. Nothing too crazy
  16. All my Dobyns balance excellent with my TP's which weigh 6.7. The longest rod I have is a 7'4, but I've never heard of a Dobyns that didn't balance well.

I really only have 4 (maybe 4.5)in worms that I use for DS and shakey heads. I don't throw a lot of splitshot rigs but I imagine they would work will there too.
  18. It's mostly personal preference in my opinion. But for me, I prefer the dual brakes. I set the pins and then I can make fine adjustments with the mag brakes depending on the lure weight, wind, etc.
  19. Haha don't send him to the tackle tour thread...
