Jig Questions.....
I use mostly 1/4 to 1/2oz but I will go up to 3/4. It all depends on depth and fall rate to me. I prefer a longer rod, a dobyns dx744 is what I use now. I feel like I can get better hook sets with the longer rod.

Baitcaster Vs Spinning
The BPS PQ is a great reel, especially for the money. If you like that reel, there is a combo that can be purchased through BPS; a PQ reel and Carbonlite rod. I believe it runs about $150-160 for the pair. IMO, this would be a great way to start branching out with a couple more specialized set ups for different techniques withough breaking the bank. Lews makes a great reel as well, and personally are my favorite to fish. I think they are the best bang for your buck in the $150 range. Just my preference though, I would stick with the PQ over the Speed Spool. The "lowest" I would go in the Lews line up would be the Tournament Speed Spool. Again, that is only my own personal preference. There are many out there that really like the Speed Spool. I'm not sure about the Cabela rods, but the Pfleuger President is also a great reel for the money. I had one forever until I lost it during a move. My guess is it would be a great combo for your kids. No need to drop any serious coin if they are just getting into fishing.

Lizards
I'm not sure. I think each lure does better in certain situations. However, I have yet to catch a fish on a plastic Lizard. I'll catch them all day on a senko, but nothing on a Lizard. So, I agree a lot with Todd. Confidence is huge

Rod&reel Dunked In Water
Probably useless now. send them to me. I'll even pay shipping. Just kidding. You're probably fine. I've dipped a reel or two in the water and not had any issues.

Baitcaster Vs Spinning
Rw hits it pretty good with that post imo. I would start there and find what you like to fish and add from there. No sense in blindly buying a bunch of rigs to cover techniques you won't throw that often. At least when starting out. If you start doing a little research into what rods and reels you want, price ranges, etc you will find a wealth of knowledge in our members. Also, fyi, there is a search function that can be pretty helpful as well. There may be other threads that already cover your question, or at least help you specify your inquiry. Welcome to the forum!

Do These Kinds Of Lizards Eat Bass Eggs?
Only way I could see a skink winding up in the water is if it fell off a dock or something.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid
I used 12# for a while. It's a good line. I still use it as leader material for certain applications.

Swim Jigs(Non Vibrating)...what Kind Of Rod?
What those guys said. It's basicallya spinnerbait without the blades so just match the rod and lure weight and you should be good to go.

What Type Of Forage Do You Try To Imitate?
Whatever I find on sale is what I imitate. Don't over think it. White, black, brown, green and some chartreuse. Like guys have already said, if it looks tasty to a fish, good. If not, try something else.

Crankbait Questions
Depends on how much you are willing to spend. A solid choice would be the Strike King crankbaits. Not too expensive and they produce well. 1.5 and 2.5 sizes are pretty versatile IMO. As far as colors go, I would just keep it simple. Shad, bluegill and craw colors are a good place to start.

Riddle Me This, Why?
I don't think you're nuts. One of the reasons I've started looking at more higher end treble hook lures is because of the hooks. Not saying that's the only reason, but it certainly helps.

Asking For A Response From Every Member
1. Fish waters that hold big fish. 2. Bigger lures. 3. Do a thorough job fishing cover/structure: slow down, multiple casts, etc.

Dx 742C S/h For Senkos
I have the 742sf. It can handle senko's although I think the 743 would be better. The 743c is the next rod on my list.

Rod Advice
I would think the veritas would be ok as long as you don't have ultra heavy cover you're fishing. I would look into getting the best worm/jig rod you can as that should greatly improve that style of fishing.
