So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
hey catt and cajunpapi, granted im not very old, but ive had my fair share of cortizone and injections from shoulders to elbows to knees and everything in between (including surgeries to these areas) from playing sports my whole life and into college......one thing yall may already know or have already been told, the best thing i have found to relieve pain and keep it away is STRETCHING i have been to numerous sports medicine doctors and chiropractors and trainers and they all say stretch and hydration, i stretch everyday and it keeps back pain and shoulder pain to a minumum....another thing that helps with aches and pains is hydration...make sure you are over hydrated on the water and everyday, yes you gotta make bathroom runs more often but no pain is worth it.....i used to be so achy and aggravated after a day of fishing and drinking beer all day, knowing i shouldnt feel like this, now i stretch everyday before i get out of bed, and when im fishing i mix in a bottle of water between beers and it keeps the aches and pains away, so if you havent tried this i recommend it........if you are currently doing all of this i would look into electric stem treatments to relax the muscles and relieve a little of the pain, stem is amazing!!!!!

went out for a little fishing saturday morning, went west of the bridge in six mile, caught a ton of fish up to 2 pounds nothing big, but it was fun having something on the other end of my line. fished the weed edges with a black neon worm. it was a blast. tried to go out later that night and fish some humps in six mile and there was a due east wind that was a little strong for my liking in my little aluminum boat so i headed in after a hour or so no bites.....new trolling motor gets here today and i will install it tonight!!!!!!!!!!!! ready for my first night tournament this weekend

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
i have had two brand new minnkotas, both had to be brought to the repair place within a year of having them, the new triton i bought came with a minnkota, i told my dad the day i brought it home, i said watch ill be replacing that within a year, and low and behold at exactly 12 months fishing a club tournament an hour into it blip, no more trolling motor. i have used and abused my motorguides on two other boats i have and have never had a single problem.........ran smack into a tree full trolling speed a few times, bent the shaft, took it off stood on it straightened it out and put it back on, went right back to fishing......just bought a new motorguide foot control to replace this minnkota, i will be selling the minnkota 70# edge on ebay or locally as soon as it comes back from the repair shop........just to play devils advocate, i dont get those high dollar ones you guys probably have, minnkota might be better i dont know, i try to stay at 600 or less if they go bad its cheap to replace or repair, the new motorguide i got for $533 shipped. ive never had any problems with them so ill stick with them for now

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
i worked the heck out of the shallows, i have one spot where i have caught 27+ pounds in one hour before, i hammered it pretty good. if the fish are there i work a couple of other spots in lowes i have. only had two bites throwing a fluke over the grass normally i have at least 10 bites in this one area it where i bring beginners to fish so their catching, but the fish werent really there so thats why i moved out alot further and didnt bother hitting the other spots. ill need to spend some time finding these brush piles......everyone keeps saying six mile six mile six mile, i hate that i have a place on six mile and dont think the fishing is that great, ive had lots of luck farther north. im probably missing something simple, but i have yet to hit the six mile flats where everyone is talking about catching them right now, but there is always 5 boats within 50 yards of each other everytime i try to fish it where i would like to

i didnt get to fish much this weekend me and the girlfriend went to enjoy the lake.....we did a little night fishing friday night in six mile, caught a few on flukes.....saturday we went out on the boat with the neighboors......sunday we went and fished some spots i had in lowe's creek got a few bites on a fluke and a black/red brush hog. went to fish a main lake hump and fish were everywhere on the humminbird but they didnt want to bite, i think i was a little late though i didnt get to this spot till around 2 pm after church i threw a big spoon and a jig but not a bite, fished for a hour went back into lowes creek and fished the outer grass line.......couple of bites nothing bigger than 12" all weekend.......now that i know there are brush piles ill be side imaging the whole creek to find them, since there are 9 pounders in there

oh and one thing i learned so it wasn't a wasted trip, i use seaguar invisx fluoro. in this case 20 # if you get hung in a tree and troll the other way to let the whole spool out and yank it a few times, its like respooling with new line all the memory is gone and it lays flat again......i know people who respool before every tournament we have because of the fluoro's memory........yall try this and see if it helps......definately a money saver

my day was no better, there were 50 boats every where i wanted to fish, me and dad went to the back of a creek in north housen where 15 feet of water is within spitting distance of the bank, caught a few nothing over 3.5 pounds. caught them on a weightless trick worm and spinnerbaits. i slow rolled the spinnerbait in the creek ticking the grass following the edge. went to sportsmans afterwards to eat sounded like everyone had a rough day on the water. i have a tournament this weekend ,hopefully the fish i found 2 weeks ago are still there since thats the only productive spot i have that i feel i can get a limit out of......

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Thanks CATT, I'll be on the lake tomorrow morning launching out of six mile me and my dad are going. I have my mind set on following my electronics and sitting on the outside grass line, I've read much about this in this thread, what do you look for on your side imaging? Or do you just follow the grass line since you know its a productive area? I fished rayburn today and fished deeper than normal trying to do the outside grass line, found some ditches and bare spots but no fish not a bite all day ( the 30 mph wind didn't help), hopefully tommorrow is better

okay, went fishing 2-12 found some fish in lowe's creek throwing wat. red soft plastics, best 5 fish went 15 lbs. im goin go to fish a different creek/area each time i head to the lake and give a report as im learning the lake and thats what this forum topic is all about......feel free to correct me or pm me for any info or give me info....my goal is to have people read my posts and be able to go fishing with their dads, brothers, girlfriends, and people who make short trips to the lake with little preparation, to get them to an area with fish so they can have fun, and not spend the whole trip trying to locate fish......i have printed and read this entire forum, thank you to those of you who contribute, i figured it was my turn to give back what little i can

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I guess it is time to post, have been reading for many months trying to learn and find some of those big toledo bass.....i just recently took another job so i could work a shift schedule to spend more time on the water. first i want to say thanks to catt and everyone else who has been posting for years now. this is the best forum on the net....i will try to give back a little and log my fishing days on the bend....rayburn is where i fish 99.9% of the time.....trying to learn toledo is not going to be easy first time fishing on the bend 2-6-13 drizzled all day fished six mile south cove points where the old RR tracks run to. fished 23 fow 1oz jig caught 2 keepers lots of small fish fished around goose island with a couple small ones no keepers, threw a rattle trap, no bites, which tells me i was in the wrong place to begin with... i joined 409 bass club, this was our first tourney, guy came in with a 10 pounder and a 27 pound bag, he was catching them on senkos over grass, dont know where im going tomorrow morning when i get off work to see if i can find more fish.....
