  1. I have the red/green color blindness never even noticed till I started working a job as an inspector
  2. This is not entirely true and a common misconception. When I first started fishing big swimbaits it took me about 2 months to get my 1st fish that's a total of probably 45 hours on the water. After that it all started clicking and now rarely do I go a trip without at least one fish on a swimbait. Another misconception is that small fish won't hit big swimbaits.. Its all about presentation.
  3. If you fish the 7 mile bridge in key west a 30lb grouper will be the least of your worries
  4. Never bent a stock hook on stx but I have had them completely break
  5. Yea the kid split ring braid cutting pliers are awesom for 8 bucks

I use the 5.5 exclusively take a coffee stirrer straw and make it a line thru add a 3/16 or 1/8 oz bullet weight for ballast. They get bit for me. I throw them when I don't want to lose a 15-30 dollar line thrus in cover
  7. Swap out bug spray for good ole listerine it will repel any bug especially ticks and redbugs(chiggers) and mosquitoes and bass don't seem to mind
  8. My local shop quit carrying all but the 4" ringer. another site has a great selection at a great price
  9. I used to feel the same way then I acquired some 1/16 weedless wacky jig heads and some 3" yamasenkos in watermelon gold flake.i found them in a plastic sack while walking the bank cleaning up trash. Caught so many dinks I ran out of senkos in less than an hour. Was a good way to spend an hour. Still not my favorite way to fish tho
  10. Add me to the drop shot doesn't work camp.
  11. Love those big dead ringers! Haven't found another ribbon tail that comes close to catching as many fish! There's no wrong way to fish them either!
  12. Haven't put the swimbaits down yet this year. Especially the mattlures hardgill
  13. I have the xh casting rod and absolutely love it
  14. Also with 3 grown men in a tin boat of that size, it could've been over the weight capacity causing the boat to be top heavy that resulted in it capsizing
  15. I've used the 3" big hammers rigged sideways weedless and flipped them in reeds and other cover with decent results. Also good for bed raiding.
  16. 60% of the time, it works everytime.
  17. Would be interested in seeing that hudd proto. Possible some type of craw or jig maybe?
  18. The hardgill doesn't work out for you I can always use a backup for my back up of my backup lol They work that good for me
  19. in the last few weeks Hopefully that will keep the monkey at bay for a while
  20. Try and find a baby hardgill they can be thrown on mh-h rod And 100-200 size baitcaster. And they get bit! Or a black dog baits g2 shellcracker they can be thrown on conventional tackle that work really well
  21. I like the flat tail. Fish it like a jig on the bottom. They get bit!
  22. Sounds like you did him 2 favors
  23. I have seen a study and bug spray containing deet was a definite deterrent I have 1st hand observations on trolling noise and how it effects the fish in shallow water.on multiple occasions I've quickly worked thru spots with the trolling motor on continuously and seen fish come up and inspect my baits and at a certain point say 10-15' from the boat they stop following and sink back to cover. I come back later and coast into a spot tm off and same bait, same angle presentation etc. and boom! Fish on! Also another deterent can be lack of confidence. If you're out there just going through the motions half heartedly you're not gonna get many if any bites.
  24. We have a lot of banded water snakes here. I like their colorations. We also have Mocs and cottonmouths and timber and eastern diamond back rattlers. If any venomous snake is in my yard I kill them. Don't want to risk. Bite to my son myself or my dogs. On the lake I leave them be
