  1. That Nu Jig looks very similar to the perfect strike alpha jig. I prefer a light as opposed to heavy wire hook when casting for cleaner hook sets from far out but I may give this jig a try.
  2. Hey snapshot I fish a similar lake often and have a lot more success fishing worms T-rigged with a tungsten weight in 3/16 or 1/4 oz. "Slithering" through weeds and structure. I find that the weed guard Is actually a weed collector with this type of forage.
  3. WRB, when you get the time send me a pm with a link to the Nu Jig...After a quick Google search I had no luck. Love your insight by the way man great stuff.
  4. My best bass this season so for including my all time best (10lbs) have all been caught on a 10" culprit worm, either red shad or June Bug. I throw nothing but a tungsten weight ( usually 1/4 oz) and a 4/0 gammy EWG offset. For wacky rigging yum dinger or a Magnum zoom trick worm in green pumpkin chartreuse
  5. I own an IMX and just recently purchased a NRX. Both are ideal for soft plastic or jig fishing (what I do 98% of the time) My NRX is in the green 6' 8" medium heavy with the x fast tip. The sensitivity with this rod paired with flourocarbon is unmatched in my experience. As long as it holds up over time it will be WELL worth the investment. You won't be dissapointed with either.
  6. Very interesting. I grew up fishing with my old man. Loved to eat panfish and catfish but even though we bass fished the majority of the time he would never keep LMB. To this day I can say I've never kept one. Last weekend I was fishing with a guy that was borderline ticked that I was throwing so much good meat back. Gave me the old story about how he hosted a party, fried up a bunch of bass, told everyone it was crappie and it was the best fish they've ever had. To each their own, but go tell mom how great that baby brush hog tasted and I'll see ya in a couple years when you're 6lbs as opposed to two. In the meanwhile I'm not desperate to put a hot plate on my table but I will enjoy a good batch of crappie, fat bluegill or even walleye from time to time!
  7. On those north star flip and swim jigs what size is the hook on the 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz jigs?
  8. Keep the cover on the cooler! My old man used to get onto me about keeping his Miller Light cold as I retrieved an ice cold Dr. Pepper. "Pop the trim up". As we moved close to structure. "Give him the redeye"! I wont get into the choice words he used regularly as I spooled a nest big enough for an eagle while learning to throw a baitcaster..
  9. Jeb I'm curious how do you stack up your mgx against your other revos? I got along with mine so well I just bought another.
  10. After reading your original post forget what I said above. No need for the high end stuff throwiNguyen cranks and spinners. Many here swear by the yo zuri line I'm going to look into it.
  11. I love flouro, but I bottom bounce T-rigs or jigs 99% of the time. Love the sensitivity and longevity. Invisix is solid. Don't try Seaguar Tatsu because like heroin if you never try it you dont know what youre missing. Expensive but I'm able to make a 200yd spool last a season so I feel like It's well worth it. Least stretch, most abrasion resistance, and smoothest handling flouro I've tried.
  12. I'd like to throw that Yankees T in a fire but given 'em the business Is right! Beautiful fish there good times.
  13. Hey boss, I'm in your neck of the woods! Fished all weekend on a private lake north of COMO. I caught lots of dinks, probably only three decent fish 3lbs +. After that major front moved through Friday evening the fishing did slow down. For what's it's worth, I downsized my bait to a T~rigged baby brush hog or zoom trick worm and the bite picked up for me. Showed down the retrieve, slow bottom hop. Had my most success thoroughly fishing brush/standing timber and docks on rocky banks with quick access to deep water. I would darn near anchor on a spot that looked fishy. Had 0 luck at the back end of coves so I stuck to points and structure just off the main drag. I've never been to Smithville but I hear folks over this way rant and rave about the crappie action. Tight lines, and keep at it.
  14. Oh I heard that. Performance is just fine with any revo, those new S's look great.
  15. I prefer #15 seaguar invisix flouro for that setup
  16. I'm curious for all of you religious jig fisherman, how does your hook-set compare to setting the hook with weedless plastics? (T-rigs, etc). I'm just now getting into jigs.
  17. T-rigged 10" culprit worm in red shad or Junebug Baby brush hog in any natural color Zoom trick worm in green pumpkin with the chartrues (sp?) Tail...I'f you haven't thrown this one yet give it a go. Wish they made the trick worm in a thicker profile although that would limit the great action it produces. Im able to get about two fish out of it before its trashed.
  18. I bought the Reno mix early this spring in 7.9.1...Abu states it's a similar retrieve speed to the high speed 7.1.1 ratios- reason being the ultra low profile or something along those lines. I love my mgx, so much that I bought another yo pair with a Loomis NRX. However, was talking with a guy at work about reels and he made a comment that a 7.9.1 gear ratio was way to I fish a jig or T-rig 99% or my time on the water so I think the high speed probably fits me well, but it has left me wondering if I'm passing up some fish. But then I concluded the speed at which you physically reel the spool is more of a factor than gear ratio and varies as we wish depending on the situation. If you can't tell already fishing really makes my OCD rear it's ugly head at times, right up there with cooking : /
  19. Revo mgx, Damon auto correct and srry for posting twice
  20. For many of us in the Midwest. I'm in central Mo, third week in September usually turns cooler day and night, and the bait fish flock to shallower water along with them comes big males and hungry females ready to put on the pre-winter feedback. Bass fishing is about to pick up, I also intend to have a few crappie feasts when I'm able to find them. Tnight lines....just picked up a Loomis NRX in 6'8" med heavy extra fast to pair with a revo max freshly spool with seaguar Tatsu fkouro. Jigs and soft plastics in the brush, here we come !
  21. 3/0 gammy with a 3/16oz to 1/4 oz tungsten weight With a baby brush hog. Zoom magnum trick worm in green pumpkin chartrues tail on a 4/0 gammy ewg hook has also been go this season same weight.
  22. Everyone above already posted productive combos, why I love bass resource forums. Tight lines my man.
  23. I love the imx series, will be purchasing several more this winter to vary length, action, power..Best I've ever used
