  1. Man you all are getting some great deals. I dont make it into walmart much but I will make it a point to do so next week.
  2. I look at application, cadence, technique given the specific situation. Ive learned a lot, and most of the time many different baits will work. I can puch those mats with a r.I. sweet beaver sitting in the bottom of my tackle box just as effictvely as if I were to run out and buy 'xyz' bait they are using that I dont have at the moment. I understand its a business though you know ?
  3. I grew up near st. Louis and always wondered if anyone bass fished the big muddy in that area.
  4. I use it to sling topwater baits, paired it with a veritas. Pb on it is 5lbs, handles just fine.
  5. I love mine, smooth, light and well worth the money.
  6. I actually prefer sunline shooter, #8 and # 14.
  7. Alright question for you guys relating to the topic. I was given a new 7'2" shimano crucial drop shot rod for xmas. M XF. Rated for 4-8lb test. I paired it with a shimano ci4 2500 spinning reel spooled with some 6lb invisix I had laying around. I rarely drop shot and was planning to use this rod with light t-rigs, shakeyheads, weightless plastics, and wacky rigs. I have not had any time on the water with it because everything is ice. "Finesse" fishing isbone area I would like to improve and experiment with after the thaw this year. Do you all think this rod will be sufficient? Im a little skeptical about hook sets but as I said I havnt been able to fish it yet. Thanks
  8. Ill take two flat out pigs with a bunch of dinks any day..Very nice! You have your work cut out for yoy to top that 7+ pounder in 2013. .Curious what is a series 5?
  9. Loved episode two! Thoroughly enjoy this format. Edwin Evers is as a punk though sorry to see him move on!
  10. Northstar jig in camo craw, brown craw, or watermellon magic paired with a yamamoto baby flappin craw is my go to and has produced for me regardless the body of water im fishing. When trigging I have done well on the lg yamamoto flappin craw.
  11. Biffle and his male camel toe was hilarious if anyone noticed. I could do without Ike going nuts after every fish but I do enjoy his insight and passion to win. The outdoor channel just recently began airing on my direct t.v. and im loving it, along with the league fishing show.. Feeds my addiction in the dead of winter here in the midwest.
  12. Ive fished lots of seaguar flouro and mono and have been satisfied with each. Are you wetting your line prior to clenching, standard and essential when fishing with flouro irregardless the brand. With that being saud I prefer Sunline Shooter flourocarbon for all techniques aside from fishing surface lures because it has all the attributes of Seaguar Tatsu only cheaper and more abbrasion resistant in my experience.
  13. If I had to choose only one swimbait setup in my arsenal right now I would go with the Basstrix paddle tail swimbait rigged on a 1/8 oz 4/0 keel weighted owner twist-lock hook. I texpose and fish a variety of colors but chartreuse shad is my favorite.
  14. Here's to a healthy, productive, and last but not least fun 2013! I hope to make it to one of the KC area get togethers next year and shoot the sh$t with y'all.
  15. I landed some quality fish last summer/fall on a 1/2 oz cammo craw colored football jig with a small beaver trailer in green Gobi color.
  16. I've had nothing but success with the simple improved clinch knot, always sure to wet thouroghly before clinching.
  17. One day I will....can't wait anyway
  18. Pick up some northstar jigs, you will not be disappointed.
  19. Ww2farmer, I'm with you 100% on this one.
  20. Gotta love catching big bass in December from the bank! And on a light setup no less. Nice catch.
  21. What skeletor said, you can't go wrong with either. Quaility jigs and both are running great sales at the moment.
  22. My suggestion is use the suggestions you get in this thread and experiment the different combo s on the water throughout a season. After a while you will find a hand full of baits that are most productive for you or that you simply enjoy fishing. 10" t'rigged worms and 1/2 jigs are two of my favorites.
  23. Have not tried sieberts jigs, but I know they are quality. I rarely fished jigs. About two months ago I bought a batch of northstar football jigs, the first quality jig I have ever fished. Powder coated finish on head, premium extra sharp hook, wire tied skirt, very resilient. At certain large outdoor chain stores I would spend a buck a jig more for far less quality jigs. Not anymore. And I don't have the same hook-up issues with traditional weed guards as some here talk about. I use a stout 7'5" rod MHF with #14 flourocarbon....when I feel the thump I cross eyes and far more often than not I will boat the bass. When fishing cover and or thick brush I will go to the arkie style head.
