Jig Traliers

Featured Replies

I was wondering what what is even ones favorite Jig trailer?

For smaller bitsy bug type jigs, I like a 3" Berkley Chigger Craw w/ Crazy Legs. When i go up a size I really like Netbait Paca Craws.

paca craws and rage craws. For swim jigs its rage tail menace or a single tail grub.

I landed some quality fish last summer/fall on a 1/2 oz cammo craw colored football jig with a small beaver trailer in green Gobi color.

Put on a Rage Craw or Lobster and call it a day!

Paca craw, Zoom speed craws or big critter craws, twin tail grubs, or half a senko.

Zoom UV speed craws mainly. I am expanding my jig fishing this year, however, and am liking the gambler ugly otter as well as the missile baits D bomb. Sweet beavers also aren't bad.

My most productive isnt really considered a trailer... yum f2 crawbug. I switch that up with paca craws

On a Flipping / Pitching / Casting Jig ~ Rage Tail Lobster, Xcite Baits Raptor Tail Craw

On a Swim Jig ~ Rage Tail Eeliminator, Berkley Havoc Bobby Lane's Grass Pig Swimbait,

Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper, and the Berkley Powerbait Thump Worm.

~Note: have had nice results with Berkley's Powerbait Hollow Belly Swimbait & the

Powerbait Flatback Shad Swimbait as trailers but they are a little pricey ~

Rage Tail Baby craw, craw, grub & menace. Netbait paca's. Denny Brauer chunk. zoom Ultravibe speed craw and super chunk JR. There are more but these are some of my most used.

#1 Uncle Josh Pork, the legend never dies

#2 rage craw, the best moving action and moves just slow enough while resting to be the best of both.

honestly, have the hardest time choosing between these two options. Always a coin toss.

Rage Baby Craw, Craw or Lobster

Swim jig: Rage Menace or Single Tail Grub

:xmas-115:

Flipping/pitching jig- paca craws, poor boy kiss craws, chigger craws, and RI sweet beavers

Swim Jigs- 4-5" single tail grub, berkley havoc grass pig and subwoofer

Flipping/pitching jig- paca craws, poor boy kiss craws, chigger craws, and RI sweet beavers

Swim Jigs- 4-5" single tail grub, berkley havoc grass pig and subwoofer

I picked up a pack of the subwoofer on clearance not really sure what I was going to do with it. This is a great idea!

What part of a pig is a craw, the jig & pig comes from a jig fished with a pork ring trailer, not a soft plastic imitation crawdad! Just my end of the year rant for all those who have hijacked the name jig & pig.

There is a good thread at the top of this forum "Jig Fishing Questions" with some answers to your question about bass striking lures that fall down through the water column.

Bass have their eyes located near the top of the head to give them good vision looking upward for a good reason; to see prey above them, they don't see to good what is directly below them. It is natural for a bass to strike something falling down through the water column.

If you are fishing in shallow water, the bass will more than likely be within a foot of the bottom and we see your lure from distance, unless it falls very near them, they only have less than a few seconds to react befor the lure hits bottom. If the water is 10, 20, 30 feet deep, the bass has more time to react to a lure falling down through the water column. In shallow water most strikes occur during the retrieve when you are casting a distance, on the fall if your are flipping a lure a short distance. The best way to increase strike detection in shallow water is use a little weight jig and always watch where the line enters the water and cuts a V. If the V stops the jig is on the bottom or in a basses mouth!

i have used various plastic trailers of one kind or another. my favorite jig trailers still remain to be ones of pork, not plastic. when targeting BIG bass, i still find it very hard to beat out pork. i know there will be lots of argument, but i have fished with lots of people either in my boat or theirs, and both of us throwing jigs. they will be using a plastic trailer of some kind, and i will be using pork, and i have not found plastic to catch more big bass than pork. plastic trailers do catch bass, but in my experience, pork will catch more numbers of big bass.
