  1. No. There isn't an exact standard that makes one brand's MH/F the same as the next. It gives you a good general idea what the rod is going to be like. But it does vary among companies.
  2. I most often fish later in the afternoons and into evening, so of course that's when I've caught most of mine. Looking back on it though, I have caught a couple hawgs around noon.
  3. On average, 3 hours of bank fishing, 3 times a week as long as there's no ice on the water.
  4. The shadowy figure looks like an actual person in crappy lighting and a blurry picture. As for the cups falling over, I used to work in fast food, and there were things like that stacked up and crammed into tight places all over and things often just fell down. And they did look like they fell, not flew, to me. I can't believe the tv news people and the cops actually took this seriously enough to talk about it. I'm not even really a skeptic. I'm open minded to stuff like this. But this case is just horse s*&$
  5. Between 5 and 7. Just depends on my mood more than anything. But I usually go for 6.
  6. Very cool! My local BPS also has a tank inside, and a large pond outside.
  7. I don't know what the boat ramp situation is there. But the results of a google search I just did indicate that there may be a decent population of smallmouth in there. So I say go for it! It's worth a shot, or two.
  8. Not so much lipless for me. But I've caught some enormous crappie and bluegill on a squarebill this year. Strike King KVD 1.0 Chart Black Back.
  9. I don't know a lot about tying knots connecting one type of line to another. But your improved clinch knot and palomar knot will work fine for tying line to lures. You don't need to know every knot in the book. Just one that gets the job done for each of your purposes.
  10. Yeah. I've read that they are made to tolerate weight/pressure mostly in that one direction. So using one backwards isn't a very good idea.
  11. Glad things are looking up for you. Fishing has helped me keep a good attitude through some tough times too.
  12. Here in MO you can only use you EBT card to get edible things. And it can't be anything that is already cooked either, like hot chicken or pizza, since you're supposed to be paying for food and not someone to cook your food as well. That being said, I know a lot of people from all walks of life, from poor to rich. And literally everyone I've ever met who received food stamps sold a portion of them every month for 50 cents on the dollar so they could use the cash for other things. They just give someone else the card, tell them to spend about $100 on groceries, and then pay 50 bucks in return. I think they should probably figure out a way to make it less convenient for people to grocery shop with other people's food stamps. Because as it stands right now, it is way too easy for people to sell food stamps and use the money for other things: Often (but not always) drugs, cigarettes, etc.
  13. Looks like a good deal to me.
  14. Crankbaits for me. But from reading on the internet, I'd say plastics and jigs overall.
  15. ^^^This. Rapala and Strike King are my favorites.
  16. Strike Kind KVD 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5. Black Back Chart has been the best color for me recently.
  17. I've just recently started venturing into the everything else forum. And already I've seen a thread simply asking how many languages people speak turn to immigration/race/politics. And now a thread on bigfoot turns to religion... I think I'm going to stick to the fishing stuff. I bid you all goodnight
  18. Nice!!! Was the bait actually in its mouth, or did you snag it?
  19. Yeah, I completely agree. Some are just plain ridiculous. Some are more serious than others though. I still think with all the people in the woods where there have been alleged sightings, someone would have gotten good footage by now. Heck, almost everyone has a camera on their phone nowadays.
  20. I do agree with Red that we can't necessarily write things like this off. There are a lot of things that people quickly dismiss as something you'd have to be crazy to believe in, and that attitude might well keep us from discovering certain things. I'm speaking generally here, not just about bigfoot. I'm still somewhat open minded. After all, new animals including some relatively large mammals, are still being found around the world. BUT, that being said, I have come to agree with the logic of the sentence of Mark's that I quoted above. The fact that there are a dozen tv shows with entire teams of people actively searching for bigfoot has made me much more skeptical, because with all those people from every cable channel searching you would think someone would have found something by now.
  21. Chart black back was going to be my first choice. I was thinking of something like a Helsinki Shad too, but I agree with you about the lack of flash. I've also given darker colors, like the red crawdad, a shot in low visibility situations but with very little success.
  22. The STATE owns the lake? Well in that case, FISH ON But just to be safe, make sure you don't walk through the property of the angry yelling people on your way to and from it.
  23. Nice... And wow, I didn't even realize he had chatterbaits. One more thing to add to my shopping cart
