Over-Populated Pond?
Paul, I have fished it with bait. But I spent the majority of the time fishing with lures. I actually had bluegill hitting a crankbait, in some cases I had a bluegill bite a crank that was the same size as it was.

Pacu In Illinois?
I could be wrong, but I think more than one pirhana has been caught there. They did a whole episode of Monsterquest on History channel there trying to determine if it would be possible for them to breed there.

What Is Your Go-To Fall Bait??
I've been doing well on shallow diving cranks.

Over-Populated Pond?
It will have to be one hell of a fish fry, but that's probably what we'll do.

Don't give up mathnerdm. Keep trying different things. It takes time. And every fisherman has bad luck sometimes. You caught bass there before, and you saw someone else catch a nice one, so there are fish in there. And you are fully capable of catching them.

The Road To The Super Bowl
Chiefs fan here But it's unfortunate that we finally start a season off well, and now have to compete with a phenomenal Broncos team in the same division.

Need Some Help For A Friend
A quick google search led me to the following: 1. There is an MJ Lee Lake in a town called Bartlesville. http://examiner-enterprise.com/sections/news/local-news/city-council-oks-contract-fishing-lake.html 2. An MJ Lee is one of the people credited for this report on electronic fishing: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=14&ved=0CEMQFjADOAo&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.environment-agency.gov.uk%2Fsw2-054-tr-e-e.pdf&ei=N5tAUqbZELO_2QW_64GQBA&usg=AFQjCNFC_xg-u3_I8EX0JPpXVN1pK07o5w&sig2=yfdONxf1eYAviSSIfh4U6w&bvm=bv.52434380,d.b2I 3. Well, that's all I was able to find on google.

Angler Released Possible World Record Musky
This brings to mind a question I've thought of before. If you think you've caught a record, how do you go about getting it weighed on a certified scale? And wouldn't the fish be hard to keep alive while you were trying to find a certified scale? If I caught an awesome fish, I think I'd rather throw it back in alive and well than get credit for a record.

Over-Populated Pond?
Yeah, I was thinking that perhaps frying up a lot of the little bass, and maybe some of the little crappie and bluegill too might help the situation.
-
Over-Populated Pond?
Interesting. There are crappie in there. But if I had to guess, I'd say the bass have them outnumbered at least 20 to 1.

Over-Populated Pond?
I have access to a friend's pond. The pond is about an acre and a half, and 12-15 feet deep in it's deepest spots. The only person who fishes it regularly is a 10 year old girl who practices catch and release. I fished it about 10 times last year, but haven't been out there this year at all. It can be kind of a fun place to fish, because the fish bite constantly. I get so busy catching and releasing fish off the dock that I hardly have time to take a drink, which results in hot beer in the summer time I've caught several decent channel cats there, and an occasional crappie. But mostly it's just non stop bass and bluegill. And ALL of the bass are tiny. I'm wondering if this abundance of tiny bass, and apparent lack of any decent sized bass is caused by overpopulation. I've had people tell me that if the little bass are there, the bigger ones should be too. I don't see it though. I've tried a variety of baits and lures. But have yet to see a bass larger than 8 or at the most 10 inches long. Any ideas?

Pros And Cons Of Different Types Of Line...
Other than strength, what are the pros and cons of different types of lines such as mono, braid, etc. Also, what are the pros and cons (other than strength) of different sizes of line, like 8lb vs 12lb, etc, etc. Thanks.

Asking Other Fishermen
I approach people occasionally. But usually they approach me. I don't mind at all. I actually enjoy it.

What Else Do You Target?
Besides bass, I like catfish a lot and will also go after crappie and bluegill. If it's really hot or if I'm just getting frustrated, I've often been known to just crack open a cold beer and watch a bobber for an hour or two.

When Is The Last Time You Invited Someone Fishing ?
I like to get in a good mix of fishing alone, and with others. I like the silence and solitude of fishing alone, but it can be too quiet after a while. Other times it's good to enjoy fishing and conversation with a good friend or family member. Last time I invited someone to go fishing was 2 weeks ago. I planned to do a lot of fishing alone this weekend, but I caught some kind of bug so I'm staying in bed instead
