  1. Well, the title says it all. I need a rod for around $100 to pair with my recently acquired Pflueger Patriarch. I would like something that I can throw a variety of stuff on. But I'll be throwing a lot of small cranks, some spinners, and the occasional soft plastic. I'm kind of interested in St. Croix, but am open to any suggestion. Thanks.
  2. I can't get that monkey off my back either.
  3. Hard to say for sure. There was a little creek near my house when I was a kid that had some small fish in it one day, all of a sudden when there hadn't been any fish in it before. I later found out that a guy that lived nearby threw a bunch of fish from his pond in there.
  4. Quality. Catching a lot of fish can be fun too. But I think I'd rather catch one 5 pounder than ten 1 pounders.
  5. Are you talking about the Chiefs?
  6. I can't remember ever going and not buying myself anything. I don't have any kids. But heck, if I manage to just buy a couple of small items for 15-20 bucks, I walk out patting myself on the back for showing restraint.
  7. I just tied a couple that I probably won't use until Tuesday. I've never had a problem.
  8. Doing it legally is the right thing to do. Plus that ticket is a lot more expensive than the license. I think in the situation you described you need to decide if you want to get a license or fish, or if fishing for such a short amount of time is even worth getting a license and going at all. But doing it without a license is not the way to go.
  9. I think about anything and everything. But I've become pretty good at blocking things out most of the time, so I'm only focused on nature and what I'm doing at that moment.
  10. This guy jumped in to help a 300 pound bull shark: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/01/fisherman-revives-bull-shark-catch-release_n_4024903.html
  11. If you got the hook out without any major problems, didn't have her out of the water too long, and didn't let her flop around in the grass and dirt while trying to get a good shot then it'll probably be just fine. So where are the pictures?
  12. Not yet, knock on wood. I would be sick.
  13. I've got pocket knockers being shipped to me now. I'll let yall know how they work for me.
  14. I feel your pain. I just got back from loosing a soft plastic tube and hook, a crankbait that I've been having success with, and a brand new lipless crankbait that I was using for the very first time. And to add insult to injury, I caught one decent bass when I first started fishing, followed by nearly 3 hours of nothing.
  15. What do you need and want? A rod and reel? Two rod and reel setups? A rod and reel plus a bunch of lures and other tackle? Narrowing it down a little bit would help people give you more specific recommendations.
  16. Go Chiefs! Jamaal Charles is a great player. The Giants made it tough for him to run today, but he is a weapon as a receiver too.
  17. There's "A River Runs Though It". I haven't seen it in so long, I don't remember it well enough to say if I'd recommend it, or know how much of it was about fish. Then the is a movie called "Big Fish" which is a good movie, but there are only like 2 scenes that are even slightly related to fishing.
  18. ^^^ I agree. Check out the articles and videos. I found them very helpful.
