  1. Looks like a good start to me. Congrats.
  2. This place is interesting to me, since I'm only 40 minutes away. Sounds like it would be some great fishing. I just can't see paying $100 for a day of fishing though. I'd rather take my chances at a public lake.
  3. I fished a lot growing up, but I just got back into it last year after about a 15 year hiatus. So I'm basically a novice, and reading the topics here make me realize even more that I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm planning to buy my first rod and reel that are specifically for bass. I'm looking for something reliable, but relatively inexpensive. And I'm thinking I want to go with a spinning reel. I want a setup that is good for a variety of lures, although crankbaits are probably my favorite. My fishing is all done from the banks for right now. I basically need a good starter setup for bass. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I've been meaning to try it out. I have a couple of friends who like to go catfishing at night there. And I had another guy tell me he caught a huge bass there a month or two ago. I don't know much else about it though.
  5. I caught a delicious channel with a crankbait last month
  6. I have a BassPro right around the corner, which is great. I don't know of any mom n pop places within 30 minutes of here though. If I did, I'd love to support them, and I'd probably enjoy the shopping experience of a small place a little bit more.
  7. I read about it somewhere too. I hope they vote yes, even though it's a bit late for me too.
  8. I've made note of the barometric pressure, and discussed it with my fishin buddy on the way out to the pond. But by the time anyone looks at the barometer, the decision to go fishing has already been made, and the pressure doesn't change that.
  9. I keep having a dream where I catch a bass and can't decide if I want to throw it back or eat it for dinner.
  10. General, or bass. I like all kinds of freshwater fishing.
  11. I was wondering what fishing magazine is the best, in your opinion. Thanks in advance.
  12. I fish a small pond, and have caught alot of fish including bass, using live bait.
  13. If it is on a farm, it is privately owned, right? So the owners gave you permission to fish? If so, ask them if they stocked it with fish. If they say yes, spend a few hours fishing and see how many fish are there yourself
  14. I just got some pretty good reports from some buddies of mine who went there. Said they caught some good catfish and bass. What did you use to catch the crappie? I never catch many of them, but I'd like to.

  16. Thanks for all the welcomes guys!

  18. The heat and humidity here in Missouri is the biggest problem. It is just miserable. I did alot less fishing in july than I wanted to because of it. And when I have gone, I have been extending my fishing hours even later at night or earlier in the morning. The small rivers and streams have darn near dried up. Luckily, I normally fish lakes and ponds anyway. And although the water levels are down alot, the fishing is still pretty good as long as you're fishing the coolest hours of the day.

  20. I use nightcrawlers, and catch alot of channel cats. The ones my local walmart sell are huge worms, and the channels seem to love them.

  22. That's funny. I live about 2 and a half hours east of K.C. and I get funny looks when I throw a fish back in the lake. I guess people around here just look at them as food, and nothing else, and they can't fathom the idea of throwing food in a lake. To each his own I guess.
