Youghiogeghny River Lake?
i was just ther yesterday to take my nitro out for the first time this year. I did good and bad, in that i caught some smallies up by the dam, niggest being 3.1 and my buddy was in the river catchin some too between 15-20 inches. the bite was tough but my spots perform year round, AND THEY ARE NOT COMMUNITY SPOTS EITHER 8-) as for largemouth, your best bet is to fish channels in coves, thats where the lunkers chill

lake arthur
hey flyhatch thats what i heard too. i called a friend of mine who fishes kbbc today n he said he is going to go check it out tomorrow n let me know if its still iced over or not. Last I heard was it was thawing out from the bank but you still couldnt get a boat on it. i am going somewhere on saturday and the more i think about it my options are limited due to the fact that there is another tournament at cross creek on saturday and i dont wanna be out there with 60 other boats, the rivers are high thanks to all this rain and arthur is still frozen. hopefully it will thaw with al the rain and the speers pool on the mon wont be affected too much from the rain since it is more south. I do know one thing and that is that the allegheny is really flowin right now. :'(

lake arthur
Does anyone know if lake arthur is thawed out yet? i was kinda hopin to get up there this weekend if it is. i looked on the kbbc websites and a couple others n it did not say

Toon Brite fiberglass boat cleaner
I recently purchased my nitro off a friend of mine who failed to wipe the hull off when taking it out of the water and on to the trailer for 3 years. Now there is a nasty yellowish/brown line on the side of the boat. I have tried a couple cleaners with no luck. I talked to a guy at a boat show a couple months back about it and he said that Toon Brite should remove it. I was wondering if any of you folks have used it or what you thought about it. I am headin to bass pro this weekend in harrisburg, PA to pick some up. I was there last weekend and noticed that they had it in stock.

Speaking of Lake Erie.............
count me in too! i was up there the last week of march last year and had a blast with the largemouth. almost 13 pounds with my 3 best. I then took a trip up there in may n caught close to 80 smallies averaging 2-3 pounds with n occasional 5 pounder ;D. If we do get together i vote for a trip in may

winterizing your rods and reels
Since its the beginning of december and my boat is winterized i figured it was about time to start putting my peg board together and organizing everything i own. I hung all of my rods and reels up in my garage and i got to thinkin, is it good to leave my kistler rods and diawa reels out in the freezing cold for the winter months? What do you guys do with all your equipment during the winter months to keep them in good working order?

SW Pennsylvania Thread
i have no clue why they work but they do. i will throw pointers if they are short striking the cranks just for a slower retrieve i guess you could say. i was out 2 weeks ago n caught them pretty good in the speers pool. the water was 57-59 degrees n they were eating a crankbait pretty good but i was out this past saturday n the water dropped to 49-51 degrees so with that much of a change in a week i slowed things down n caught them on a drop shot n jig n pig. i ran inot a school of spots that i was on the week before n i think they grew cuz i caught a 15 inch average of spots (12 to be exact)

Pittsburgh area bass anglers....need some info....
i belong to a club that we started up 2 years ago so its fairly new (FOrt Pitt Bass Anglers)....there are 14 members in it, we fish 6 tournaments a year, last year we fished Pymatuning, mon river(elizabeth), Yough Dam, Shenango, mon river(speers), and the southside(3 rivers). Its a fun little club and we are currently lookin for members that have a boat. pm me for more info on it

SW Pennsylvania Thread
i love fishin the rivers this time of the year.....when the water gets into the 50s you better have a crankbait tied on......if that dont work fish deep and throw a drop shot rig

SW Pennsylvania Thread
Has anyone been to the keystone power dam lately? Im thinking about goin up this weekend and giving it a shot. I usually do very well in the spring and summer up there but I have not fished it this time of the year. A couple people I talked to said that it is pretty low. Anyone wanna give me an idea on wht to do?

They claim to be a bit bigger than the older alphas and now they can be used for fresh or saltwater. im considering pickin one up but i dont want it to be like some huge saltwater real. what reels out there now couuld you compare it to? Sol? Steez? Curado? etc.

deep water grub fishing
i have been reading through some of my old bassmaster mags and i noticed they talk about fishing a grub in deep water. Mainly in 20-40ft depth range when the fish suspend. I was wandering how some of you folks do this and if so how do you retrieve it? Thanx!

Surface lures and flourocarbon
i recently spooled one of my baitcasters with xps flourocarbon and i was throwing a chug bug on it yesterday. I wasnt gettin the action out of the lure like i wanted to. do you folks think its because the line sinks faster than mono? should i go back to mono on my topwater rod or not?

UPS and Fishing Rods (A Nasty Combo)
Well, I hate to say it but ive been an employee at ups for 4 years now unfortunatly and i have seen my share of smashed rods, trolling motors, bulk line spools, etc. if at all possible i would say to save yourself the greif and agonny of your fishin goodies if its within reason to drive to the destination to pick up your product. If not i would track the progress on you product via internet and once you see that it has reached the terminal closest to you to go pick it up because that is one less ride it has to take to your house in the little brown truck and one less chance to be broken. Ive done it with all my purchases that have gone through that place and ive had seen so people do some nasty things to boxes. I also work for an LTL company and it brings a tear to my eye when you get brand new mercury outboards going to your local boat dealer with giant forklift holes in the side of the crate :'(. Its not a pretty picture. It is nice to see the skids of senkos and lucky crafts that fall over though because you get to test out all the new products before they hit the stores hehe. heres a pretty funny site to check out for all you haters of ups. www.unitedpackagesmashers.com
