I have a 2.0 M Veritas never had issues with the guide inserts but it’s more like MH rod to me so that is how I fish it.

Look up wacky rigging a 4 inch senko. Use a spinning rod and reel. You will be hooked in no time. Most importantly have fun!

I have never punched mats. This is something I always want to try but have yet to do it. Maybe this year will be the year.

My sweet spot is 6’6” to 6’10” also. I’m 6’4” and don’t really like longer rods. I have longer rods but like the shorter ones better. I fish from a boat also and for whatever reason the longer rods seem to get in the way.

I have started using swim jigs for the first time and have had some success in cold water. I am putting a 3.75 rage Swimmer on as a trailer and it really looks great in the water. Any tips on when and where to use these or if I should change the trailer? Thanks guys.

Has anyone tried putting. Shroom jig head inside of this like a bigger tube? I just did it and it looks like it might work okay for creek smallies. I bought some of these last year and really didn’t use them because it was light and didn’t quite seem right with the jig head on the outside. I’m going to give it a shot. Can you tell it’s still winter here and I’m going nuts just waiting for the weather to warm up?

I went with the 4 strand on a spinning reel and always close the bail by hand. I’m going to give it a fair shot with several trips. Thanks for the tips guys.

I picked up a Diawa Ballistic 2500 last year and is is my favorite spinning reel right now. Look on Ebay for a good deal. They are very smooth.

Gammy 1/0 octopus hook is what we use.

I picked up some 10lb kastking braid and spooled it up on my new Pflueger Supreme 30. The reel seems great so far but the braid had a lot of wind knots and is really loud going through the guides. I may have over spooled so I will give it another shot before removing it. First impression not so good.

I pulverize some kosher salt with a blender and add that to my stick baits when making them. The more salt the higher the sink rate. Good luck.

If this was the case senkos would have stopped working years ago. I don’t think the fish care as much as the fisherman. If they are on I don’t think they remember being caught on a specific lure or bait. I think it’s instinct that drives them to eat. I change it up to find a pattern never thinking they saw this lure too much. I could be wrong but this is how I fish.

I am going to get one of these. Should get a 25 or 30 size? I’m not sure about their sizing. I have a Diawa Ballistic 2500 that is the size I’m looking for but I know they run big. do they run big or small? Any info. Would be helpful. Thanks!

That’s the time of year we go. We use tubes and swimbaits mostly. The river can rise quickly that time of year so it’s a crap shoot as far as clarity and bite. It’s also the best time of year to get a giant pre-spawn football. Some times it has been in the 60’s and 70’s and others in the 30’s and 40’s. Over layer you can always strip clothes if too warm but if too cold you will not have a fun day. You should definitely go it is still one of the best smallmouth fishery’s in the world for both size and numbers. Good luck!

I have an 18 foot bass boat for the big lakes. I got a used jon for $200 and a little trailer for $100 off Craigslist. I also got a 6 hp motor for $400.00. I use the Jon on electric only lakes and with the motor on the Delaware river draft is only a foot or so so I can get to some pretty skinny water with it. I think you will use the Jon more. I also have a Wilderness 120 yak that I have not used after getting the Jon. Good luck either way.

I caught 3 nice bass on a blade bait today. There was ice on the lake last week.

I need to re-carpet my boat this year. It’s a Tracker Tournament V-18. I am handy but have never done anything like this before. Is this something I can tackle myself? Any tips anyone can give me? Should I find a professional to do this? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks everyone.
