One Bait stranded on a lake/ winter time 50 degree days and 35 degree nights water temp in mid 40's if you only had one lure choice
If I had to catch food it would be a Blade Bait. You can catch a lot of diffrent fish in a day with a blade bait. If I just had to fish with one bait it would be an LC Pointer 78 in sexy shad.

Cleaning old lures
I never clean my lures. Some of my best lures are the ones that are really beat up. I just sharpen or replace trebles if needed.

tragic news for my family
So very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

Reaming solid butts
I got my butt reamed solidly by my wife when I got home 3 hours late from poker night last week. I hope this helps. Sorry couldn't hold off on that one. I'll try to be better in 2017.

Dropshot Leader Question
If I ever need to use a leader longer than 10 feet I'm just going to use straight fluoro. I usually start with around an 8 foot fluoro leader to braid then just re-tie once I think the leader is too short. This works well for me.

People that leave trash
It's a battle that we fight all the time. I do it passively by picking up trash and putting it in the trash can. If they don't know the benefits of not littering they never will no matter how much you speak the them. The good news is those kind of people really don't know how to fish because they never take the time to learn.

O rings on Senko's
I received an O ring tool in my Christmas stocking and wanted some opinions on using O rings. I know they will make the bait last longer but have you seen a lower hook up rate then without them? I have always thought they would hinder the hook up rate. I could be wrong. Let me know if you have any experience with them. Thanks, Tom

Morning vs evening fishing
I seem to do better in the early morning but in the summer when it's hot I love being the guy in the middle of the lake in the middle of the day for some reason now. ?

In a slump, and out of ideas...
Yep. Try throwing a blade bait. I have caught white perch, yellow perch, Pickerel, Pike, crappie, and occasionally a bass. I'm not too picky this time of year. I happy just getting out this time of year and with the blade bait odds are I'm going to catch something.

sunglasses
I use Maui Jim's in amber with the readers on the bottom. These work well for me. And I can tie knots and leaders with them. If the lenses get too scratched up I send them back to Maui Jim's and they replace them for $50.00. New glasses again. Their customer service is really good and fast. I'm surprised nobody else uses these. You can get some good deals on them on sale also.

VMC weedless wacky hooks
I don't use wacky hooks with weed guards. I use a Gamakatsu 1/0 octopus hook and drop it into weed pockets or on the edges of weeds. I bought a pack of these but my thought is I have a better hook up ratio without the weed guard. If it's too thick then I'm using somthing else.

Cannot WAIT for Spring!
I was out on Monday and caught a bass and lots of crappie and perch. I'm happy to get one bite from a bass this time of year but will take anything I can get. Jerkbaits.

Let's see your Christmas tree!
My wife likes white lights and I like color. I put up the tree and we decorated and lit it. Looks great! She left the room then I push the remote and presto chango color! She came back in and I told her is was color the entire time. That her brain was so used to seeing white lights that she thought the color lights were white. Really had her freaking out for about 5 minutes. Then she looked at me and said yea right and all your rods and reels really cost what you tell me they do. I pay the bills dummy! She's a keeper! Merry Christmas!

Wow -- if this is true....
I always do better on a rippled surface then a flat calm one. I'll keep the olive oil for pasta and salads.

My son is a drug addict.
You are in my prayers. It's time for tough love. No matter what you do don't stop. I will say this again. No matter what you do don't stop. It is time to save his life. If you need to go to the court and have him committed because he is over 18 or if you need to round up some of your buddies and drive out and find him to bring him home and sit on him for days until he is over the withdraw. One bad dose and he is dead. If he is heavily addicted he will not stop on his own. His only goal is to find his next high at any cost. I'm sorry to be so blunt but I just wanted to state some facts to you. I am the father of a recovering heroin addict. I spent the sleepless nights trying to figure out what to do. I asked for help from the police and addiction specialist. It wasn't until I woke up one day and hunted him down that things started to change. It ended very badly for my son's friends and their family's. This same addition issue is played out all over the country. It knows no barriers, social status, or upbringing. My son fought his battle and won. I had no idea what I was doing and was scared but I did it. I wish you and your son well and no matter what anyone tells you don't stop. Feel free to pm me if you would like my number I will be glad to help you in any way I am able.

What did you learn or where did you improve at in 2016 .
I learned how to fish the scrounger jig with much success. (Thanks AJ). Also not to fish from past experiences on the water or memory. Each time fishing to use my electronics more along with what seasonal pattern we were in. More time spent doing this equated to more and better quality fish in the boat.

What do you do in the off-season?
I will ice fish if the ice is safe. I also melt down and make stick baits from all the plastics I have used during the season. But most importantly I do any projects my wife wants me to while it's cold outside. Why you ask? Because life's a chess game and I'm Bobby Fisher.

Deep suspending jerkbaits
LC Deep diver. Usually the pointer 78.

Gambler Flapping Shad
I picked up some of these in the 4 inch size to slowly drag on a swimbait belly weighted hook in the cold water. They look great. Does anyone have any experience on the best way to fish these in the cold water?

Glad y'all mentioned Blade Baits for Cold Water
I'm a Binskey blade fan. Kill them in cold water on this.

Shakey head in winter
I was fishing today and didn't catch any bass until I tried a shakey head. I was just dragging it really slow and letting it sit. They were really light bites as if they were just picking it up and sitting there with it. The water temp. was 45 and the bait was a Zman hula Stix in the deal color. This is the first time I tried a shakey head this cold. They wouldn't hit blade baits or jerkbaits. Any one else try a shakey head in the winter?
